Chapter 48

"Welcome to my home, young man." William Carter said, rising to his feet.

"Please sit down sir." Elijah hurried over to the table.

"After you." Williams pointed at the empty chair opposite his granddaughter.

With William at the head of the table, Elijah, and Winnie were both by his sides. Elijah sat, really liking this view. He could sneak a peek at Winnie because God knows he couldn't take his eyes off her.

"You were a bit late though," Williams said, finally sitting again.

"My apologies sir. There was a little hold back." He explained.

"Hope everything was sorted, or do you need help?"

"Grandpa," Winnie warned gently.

"Thanks for offering, but I sorted everything out already." Elijah smiled.

Her heart lurched against her chest. He never smiled this comfortably with her. She was grateful for the presence of her grandad because she was certain to see a more eased side of Elijah.

"Good." The old man nodded.
