Chapter 86

"Mummy?" She dropped to her knees, grabbing a hold of the painting and clasping it tightly to her chest.

"You're okay mummy. You're fine." She said, over and over again.

Elijah watched her. When she had broken into a run, he thought she was leaving. But then she took the round, and ended up crouched on the floor. He realized it was the painting. But with that realization came curiosity. Did she know her mother was in that painting? Why was she speaking so confidently to it?

"It's mum's painting." He blinked twice, and saw she was on her feet again.

"Really?"

"Yeah," She said taking it back to the spot it had fallen from. "There was no breeze. I wonder why it fell."

That settled it for him. She obviously didn't know her mum could communicate through that painting. Her question could easily be answered too. Perhaps her mum saw her distressed and decided to intervene. The latter, he was grateful for. If she hadn't, he would have easily overstepped the boundaries of their weird f
