Arthur leaped away from the roaring Lionake, his eyes gleaming in a strange light. He had used all of his strength to injure it, and needed to dash off to regain energy before the monster lashed out.
Arthur landed gracefully on the ground just a few metres away from the crazed Lionake. Its head was cleaved in two, and it was regenerating at a slower pace than earlier. "Damn it! It wasn't so tough when I used to trash it effortlessly in the past!" Arthur frowned deeply, his energy was depleted but regenerating slowly, but it wasn't enough. Unless he wanted to feed himself to the beast, he needed to be decisive. "Don't worry Arthur, I'll attack it too! We'll all end it here!" Drake shouted as he dashed forward at a crazed speed, dragging his sword behind him as he closed up the distance between the Lionake and himself. As soon as he got close enough, he threw himself at the target. He planned to chip away at the enemy's health until it was weak enough for them to one-shot it. It was a simple plan, but not very easy to carry out with their lacking strength. "Stupid monster— die!" Drake landed directly in front of the towering Lionake. He didn't even hesitate before taking a stance and tightening his grip on the massive sword in his hands. 'If I can do this successfully, we'll be able to finish off the monster quickly without expending more of our energy…' Drake roared as he drew a curve with his left leg, then drew back his sword with his eyes burning in a strange light. He was also under the effects of the buff Arthur had been given.'Lililth had cast it over me the moment I leaped forward to strike. I can still feel this wild energy coursing through my body. I feel, powerful!' Drake roared as he dragged his blade across the air, tearing through the wind to hack at the tough hide of the Lionake. His sword blasted into the scales and tore them apart immediately. In a few strikes, he was able to leave deep cuts across the scaly hide of his target. After a series of hacking and slashing. Drake took a step back and dashed off to safety. He had mutilated the sides of the Lionake, and he saw firsthand how tough the opponent's defence was. Not only were the wounds he had left on the Lionake healing at a fast pace, but the monster also seemed not to be getting weaker at any length! "Tsk!" Drake clicked his tongue as he dashed further away with his brows knitted. He wasn't going to give up, he is going to rest, then attack again! Like a mad wolf, he is going to attack his prey relentlessly until he has it in his jaws. Drake is willing to fight till he faints from exhaustion— No retreat, no surrender. "Roar!" The Lionake let out a thunderous roar as soon as Drake had dashed off safely. Completely disregarding its well-being, the maddened Lionake charged forward without hesitation. "What the— damn it! Felicia shoot it down! Drake, don't let it come any closer!" Aaron shrieked as he jumped back, "Aaah! Don't come any closer, don't come any closer!" "You idiot!" Felicia cursed, then assumed a stance with her bow raised and eyes sharp. She quickly nocks an arrow, and waited patiently for the opportunity to strike. She wasn't confident in taking down the monster with her strength alone and knew her limits. She could only bet on Arthur and Drake to deal with it before it reached them, or she could buy enough time for Aaron and Lilith to escape. “Blue Fire Ball!” Lilith shouted as she waved her staff, sending a wild ball of blue flames hurtling towards the charging Lionake. The blue fireball was as big as a baby, and it was very powerful. The ball of azure flames that materialised out of thin air flew at a terrifyingly fast pace, exploding the very minute it blasted into the Lionake's head and tore it apart completely! "Arthur! Drake! Take it down now, take it down before— Tsk!" Lilith cut off her speech and waved her staff again without hesitation, “True Shield — Max Defence!" A bright light engulfed the party, taking the form of a few large shields that floated before the party in a blink. The shields looked fragile — almost as if it would shatter upon the slightest attack. "Drake, brace yourself it's going to use a special skill! Arthur get ready to take it down as soon as its mana is depleted from the attack!" Her hands swung from one side to another, and a few more magic circles formed around her. 'Push myself,' Lilith whispered in her heart, 'I will push myself till I break through! I mustn't let this roadblock stop me, I must break through!' Drake's pupils narrowed down to slits as he heard Lilith's words. He quickly sheath his sword and crossed his arms before his face with his brows still knitted. The Lionake whose head was blown off was still alive! It was burning its energy to regenerate its energy but was still as strong as it was earlier. It raised its paws, and without hesitation smacked down to the ground — directly before Drake. A clap of thunder sounded, and the earth before Drake was blown away. Before he could react, he was assaulted by a massive gust of wind that tore through the shield and blasted into his hands. Damn it! This hurts! Gritting his teeth as he bore the pain, Drake was getting exhausted. He was a human, and because of that, he felt exhausted whenever he is burning energy. He wasn't a beast, nor was he all-powerful. The skin of his forearms had been diced by the demonic wind. Drake was bleeding profusely and he was unable to stop it. Sooner or later, he would have to drop his hands, only to get torn apart by the wind. 'This is the power of an awakened? So strong, I can barely breathe…" Drake felt the air grow thin and himself a bit lightheaded. He was unable to do anything, all he could do was wait for death. "Drake!" Hearing the scream, Drake's pupils shrank into needle points and he raised his head. Right above him was a headless Lionake, the wounds that he left on its abdomen had healed. "Damn it!" The Lionake didn't waste any time. It swatted the poor Drake away like a ragged doll and charged forward without hesitation. It was going to wipe out all of them! Then it would eat them slowly, savouring their deliciousness! “Boom! Crack!” Drake felt all the bones in his body crack in that instant. The force of the massive paw that struck him was like that of a speeding train! Drake was completely helpless as he was blasted away. Blood oozed out of his nose as he hurtled through the air, his right hand had been shattered and his limbs went limp. He had broke a few more of his ribs, and the unbearable pain sent jolts down his spine — he was speechless, not knowing what to do as he crashed into a wall in an explosion of dust. A trail of blood had been left from his starting position, to where he was buried into. Blood gushed out of his wounds, forming a growing puddle beneath him. He was paralyzed. Aaron and the others were shaken, fear engulfed them as they stared upon the headless Lionake. A cold wind blew as they began to take shaky steps away from the monster. They wanted to run away! The door to leave the dungeon was just metres away! Fortunately, they hadn't gone in deep and could still save themselves! They— they— they! Just as they were preparing to run away, Arthur who had been frozen from shock all these while staggered to his feet. He held his sword, and he took a few steps forward. He remembered the past, a situation he'd encountered earlier. He'd been through this situation before. He had been a coward, despite knowing he had the power to change something. He watched everyone die that day, he watched them get torn apart. "Heh heh." Arthur grinned crazily as he assumed his battle stance and stared directly at the target, his eyes glowing in a strange light, "I wasn't joking, when I said I'd take you down." Aaron who was about to make a run for it froze as he saw Arthur standing back up to the monster. He was unable to comprehend why, why isn't Arthur running away from death but embracing it. What is he seeing that's making him take these dumb steps toward his destruction? Why isn't he backing down? Defeating the monster alone is not something he can do! He won't survive! Felicia was sweating, the arrow still nocked in her bow. She was terrified, but she was betting all she had on Arthur. All he needed to do was to delay it a bit or hold it down, all she needed was just one opportunity to strike! "Heh. Unlike before when you tore them apart before my eyes, I'm aware of my strength and your very weaknesses. Even if it seems impossible, I'll take you down. I'll bring you down to hell!Arthur charged again, this time his speed was more than a little bit faster than before. A smile appears on his face as he suddenly yeeted himself directly at the Lionake, his sword gripped tightly. "Die!" Arthur spun himself mid air, using his strength to drag his sword to follow his momentum. His whole body exploded with energy as he spun his blade mid-air to attack his enemy. The Lionake had already regenerated half of his face, and had completely regenerated all wounds it had on it's scales. Arthur deduced that it must be tired, and he could take it down easily. The Lionake raised it's hands quickly and slashed at Arthur with it's massive claws, it's aura still wild and crazed with rage. Slithering away with it's regeneration nearly complete— it opened it's mouth and roared madly. Arthur's pupils shrank into needle points as the ripples caused by the sudden paw attack from the Lionake took form into massive claws. It was able to easily teae through the air as it flew to
The team were already a few dozen metres into the dungeon, encountering nothing but pathetic Lionakes. The Lionakes yielded very little XP, which amounts to nothing to the team. As of now, only Drake had levelled up. Lilith and Aaron were at the bottle neck, and Felicia was not even close to levelling up. Arthur only engaged in one or two skirmishes, hence, his paused advance. He was close to his bottleneck, but since he had not much kills except the guard, he couldn't level up. Arthur had promised himself to breakthrough to the next level, and he is still disciplining his tired self to get active and advance. "Arthur, you haven't been taking down any of the Lionakes. Aaron has been stealing most of your kills for a long while now." Felicia threw a glance in Arthur's direction, and raised her brow, "Are you okay? You still look a bit pale." Arthur blinked, then hacked down a Lionake with his brows furrowed. The Lionake granted him just 100XP, a simply pathetic sum for someone l
Arthur hid behind a cluster of dead shrubs and rocks, assessing the situation before him with a frown on his face. After a few seconds of watching, he glanced at a frozen Lilith who was crouched besides him. Stunned, he raised his hand and tapped her lightly on her shoulder. She woke up from her daze instantly, but didn't make a sound. As soon as her brain processed what had happened, she grinned awkwardly. Arthur shook his head and went back to surveying the monsters closely. The two Lionake Hunters and Stone Hooves seemed to be in some sort of strange haphazard formation. The Lionake Infantry crawled around aimlessly, but seemed to be at elevated alert. A dungeon is divided into four parts — The Gates, The Domain, and The Boss Chamber. Clearing an entire dungeon could take from hours, to weeks or months of endless battles and deaths. Each dungeon having it's own unique monsters and castes. Dungeons are classified into 7 levels — E level, D level, C level, B level, A level, S le
Drake's sword connected, and in a flash of light tore through the rocky neck of the monster! The head of the Stone Hooves was severed from it's body, and fell to the ground with a thud. "It's dead!" Drake exclaimed as soon as the head of the beast rolled down to the ground and came to a slow halt a few metres away. His palms were sweaty, and his back aching, but he still marched on! He dashed towards the other monster and hacked at it's neck with his skill still active. Unlike before when he was unable to harm the Stone Hooves, he could finally slash them! Soon, the two Stone Hooves were dead and their death earned Drake a total of 3000 XP! It was a large sum for such weak kills. It was only this easy because Aaron told him about their weakness. If he had not known, killing the monsters would have been nothing short of a miracle. Not only were they as durable as the guard, they were also stronger than normal peasants. The group began their advance, running into a few more
Arthur regrouped with the others at the doors to the final dungeon. His body was ridden with a few wounds and bruises, but he was still as strong as a bull! Although, he couldn't enter the dungeon in his current state. Lilith had to heal everyone, then drink just a few Sun Vials to regenerate her Supreme Qi. After she was done, Lilith had everyone drink it except the resistant Arthur. She didn't bother persuading him, as Sun Vials were precious — even to her. "Okay danger alert. This domain we are about to waltz into is rated as a B rank by me. For a good reason that is." Arthur sheathed his sword and crouched, lowering himself so he could hunch over and touch the ground. Everyone seemed to be shocked after Arthur's revelation, particularly Aaron whose eyes shrank to needle points the second he heard Arthur. He seemed completely confused and a bit angry. Despite their mixed feelings, all of them did not say a word and just watched Arthur with flaring nostrils. Aaron's eyes seem
All the bones in his body seemed to have snapped at that moment, the pain he felt spiked and his aura was transformed from a calm shade of silver to a raging storm of wind, dust and aura. He felt as if all his muscles were being tugged on by a thousand angry babies, his veins seemed as if some unseen force was pulling them apart! It room him all his strength to swing his sword, to bring it down upon the enemy and finalize the battle. Or so he thought… Arthur's eyes widened as his sword crashed into the head of the the Iron Hooves Boss, and snapped! Pain engulfed Arthur as the rebound force from the strike travelled across his body in waves! His head seemed as if it was about to explode, and his limbs went limp. He was unable to guard himself, and all he could do was watch as he crashed into the walls of the domain. Breaking his back and all the bones in his body. [Awakening, Failed!] "Failed?" Arthur slid weakly down from the crater on the wall he created with his back, blood str
Arthur dashed towards the boss monster, glaring into it's eyes as he weaved through the metal spikes which were fired at his face. He seemed determined to attack the monster without holding back his strength. Any metal spike he was unable to dodge, he punches them without hesitation! His punch coupled with his azure flames, would shatter the spike and send the shards flying to scattered directions! The power behind each of his punches were powerful, just a single strike now would deal ten times his usual damage. This also meant it drained ten times the SQ a usual attack would drain. "Heh heh!" Arthur's eyes gleamed in a demonic light as he leapt towards the Iron Hooves, brandishing his flaring fist as his aura exploded to shroud the entire arena in a sea of majestic azure flames. “Self Taught Azure Art — Azure Hell Fist!” All the heat in the atmosphere was sucked into his fist the second it was thrown out, causing the heated temperature of the area to descend into a freezing
Arthur was sure his single attack was going to rip the target apart without fail - it was one of the many skills he'd honed throughout his past lifetime, and armed with that knowledge, beating the monster should be nothing more than child's play. Should, in the sense that there was a chance all his plans would go down the drain the minute he drains his Supreme Qi and exhausts both his body and soul during the heat of battle. His final attack, a simple looking descending claw strike - ripped into the boss monster's defense with zero effort and resistance. Numerous blasts bloomed at that moment, tearing further the boss's wounds. After letting out a roar of madness, the Iron Hooves kicked Arthur away from itself, then with it's body still shrouded in azure flames, quickly activated it's [Zero Damage Zone]. Arthur's eyes narrowed as soon as he'd noticed this, crashing his land a few metres away due to his lack of energy after his last attack. Although the monster had deflected t
"Hehe, the idiot must have noticed the death of his followers by now and must have understood that his target is being assisted by a powerful entity." Rylex chuckled to herself. Her face was vibrant and she was brimming with energy and excitement. "…" Syx turned her head to face Rylex, staring at the side of the goddess's face. Her glowing eyes flashed as she collapsed into the sea of thought, and in a flash, her expression went blank. "It won't be long until he starts to feed me more of his stronger followers, each of them as a probe to guage my strength." Rylex rolled her eyes with a sneer, her aura was shrouded with arrogance and pride, "Unless some elder god were to make their move, even the god of death himself would he unable to stop me." She was a bit pumped, and it showed with her not even trying to hide it. After a few seconds, she was finally able to calm herself and pick up her speech. "If not for my inability to leave Jack here and just—" Rylex paused, her brows furr
"Is she doing okay now? The monsters have already been cleared out, and your father is probably awake now." Luke said as he sat besides Fay who was watching Meng sleep.Fay sighed before turning to face Luke with a bright smile on her face. "Meng Meng's doing fine for a fairy her age. She'll be up in a day or two." Fay answered as she grabbed Meng's little hand.Luke smiled broadly before rising up, and looking outside through the open window. His eyes narrowed as it locked upon the silhouette of a creature watching them from afar."Say, what actually made you guys to remain here instead of heading back home." Luke looked over his shoulder to Fay and asked."That's top secret, but I think you should know." Fay sighed heavily before continuing with a frown, "There's a powerful universal weapon hidden here in the capital. was found by Meng and I after stumbling on a secret dimensional portal inside one of the hidden castle rooms.""Would you mind telling me what you saw in the dimensio
Luke hunched over, panting as his eyes swept across the bloodied battlefield before locking on the the dead body of the almighty dimensional phatom stone golem.[You have surprisingly been true to your words before a lower-lifeform!][Royal Charm Instant Rank Up!][Respect +10]"Damn, after all that honesty, I didn't get a new skill? Why is this system wicked to me all of a sudden? Who cares about levelling up? I have !" Luke muttered before straightening his back with a slight frown on his face as he let out a low sigh. Before Luke was badly mutilated body of the dimensional stone phatom golem which lay motionless on the ground alongside it's dead minions. "He actually defeated that dreadful dimensional monster, and even had been toying with it this whole time!" "That prince actually didn't move! He really subdued the powerful monster without moving from the spot!""Almighty prince Luke, almighty elven god! Invincibility under the heavens!"The awe-filled cheers of the human soldi
Mylos clung unto the walls of a tall building, gazing past the massive fence to view the plethora of houses before him. With his demonic vision, he was able to see objects metres away as if they were just an inch away from him. "Just a few hunters patrolling by that alley to the west. I should be able to avoid them if I'm careful. What I need now is a place to stay the night." Mylos spoke softly with his head bowed in thought, and brows knitted. In his bag, he had some “credits” which humans deemed useful for transactions. He calculated having enough for more than a few months of rent, but decided on paying for just a few nights since he would be mobile. "I can also last some weeks more without any food, but I'll be forced to find a meal if I get too weak from these hunger pangs." Mylos frowned, then he shook his head and clenched his right fist, "Let me get away from here." As soon as Mylos clenched his fingers digging into the wall into a fist, he crushed a part of the wall
A young boy ran briskly through a forest with a frown on his extremely handsome face. He was wearing a plain black hoodie with the hood pulled over his head to cover his hair. Strapped to the side of waist was a sword still in it's sheath. Everytime the boy's feet landed on the ground, he would appear metres away in the distance like a phantom without even leaving an afterimage. It was as if he was using a strange version of teleportation. Chasing after him was a blue haired girl on a bike were a crop top and a short shirt. A large claymore was strapped to her back, but it wasn't sheathed, boldly displaying it's blade. The dark grey blade of the claymore which was riddled with glowing green runes gave off an intimidating and dangerous vibe to whoever set their eyes on it. From the size alone, one could only imagine how powerful the wielder must be to have the ability to use it in a battle. The forest today was exceptionally quiet except for some tweets from the scarce birds f
"Sit." Mylos blinked, then sat down on the chair facing that of his father. He stared into the man's eyes, his brows were furrowed and shoulders tense. He seemed anxious, but did not give himself away with any strange action. "Father, I—" The Chaos Eminence waved his hand, causing Mylos to shut his mouth and look away. After he had given his son the signal to shut his mouth, the Chaos Eminence drops his hand and laid it upon the table between them. "Don't bother yourself…" The Chaos Eminence sighed as he closed his eyes and laid back in his seat, "A large number of them had attacked the building you told me you would hide in. I guess, that was a very smart move." "No father. This has gotten to something beyond what I am able to handle." Mylos cut in after listening to all his father had to say, his brows still furrowed as he was still in deep thoughts, "I believe you know what I saw there." The Chaos Eminence smiled warmly as he picked up a glass cup filled with water and
“Clang!” Dancing under the moonlight, the sparks of their blades clashing lit up the scattered shadows. Blood was sprayed all over the auditorium walls, and charred markings were blasted all over the exquisite ornate doors. Dead bodies lay on the ground — most mutilated, while some were burnt to a crisp. Their swords were shattered and their armour rent with claw marks over the metallic surface of the metal. “Clang!” In this blood soaked scenery. The duo clashed without a second of relent, their attacks and counterattacks looked perfectly synched — fluid and graceful, without a second of hesitation or stagger, nor a shred of relent. After seconds of clashing fiercely, they pulled away and gave some space for breathing. Finally, the faces of both swordsmen were revealed as the gleam of the moonlight shone on them. "Haha! Sword Eminences are truly annoying creatures, I don't even have the chance to breath." Standing in the moonlight with his head slightly bowed, he grinned
Mylos had gotten himself accustomed to the relentless attacks from demons. He believed that they were drawn to his hidden ability somewhat, and must want it for their worthless selves. He could do nothing about it. "I have been promised ten thousand gold Yreo for your wretched head, youngling. It's a shame I was too late in reaching you, or you would have made me easy gold to last more than a few years." Mylos smirked coldly as he held his sword, not making a move as he scrutinized his opponent. Alas, his little head carried a heavy bounty which numerous hunters gunned for despite his status and reputation. For that only, he'd been constantly attacked by troupes of hunters in unison with the demons after his ability. He had never been allowed to rest with their targets behind him, and had been killing attackers left and right. Although he never thought that the demons would also gain a reward for hunting him. He believed that only the hunters from other dumb races were after his
Silence. The winds were agitated, and so were the steeds risen by the Imperial Flame Army. The vast plains was shrouded in an icy mist, and one could spot a few decapitated bodies scattered throughout the battlefield with a few limbs torn off. Holding the reins of his humble steed, Yin Huo who wore an emotionless mask, cast his gaze over the vast horizons. After a few seconds, he finally stabilised his armoured stallion was. "Esteemed Southern Commander, Yin Hou! We have already received estimates of the enemy's total forces." A short and stout bearded man who rode a dark stallion inched over and whispered in Yin Hou's ears, "The army seem to be marching over in this direction…" Yin Huo paused. His emotionless eyes suddenly began to flicker with a righteous light, and from those short flickers were birthed wild flames. "Heh." Yin Hou opened his mouth to speak in a deep and cold voice, his gaze held over the vast horizons, the plains devoid of human life or activity.
