Just like a bystander with no power to stop what he behold; Damien watched them. There were twelve of them.Twelve wizards of the First Order stood in the in-between, where no mortal would dare venture and even the most powerful of the supernatural beings would think twice before embarking on.Their cloaks bellowing, their chants rising as the minutes passed, they invoke the powers that be. That which nobody had ever attempted. The moon wept and the sky shed bloody tears but nothing deterred them from their mission. The storm grew around them as their chants rose. One by one they dropped, giving their life essence in the ritual they had set out for. Turning around the currents of the element was not without its consequences after all. One which they were willing to accept before setting out.One by one they dropped and the moon turned bloodier. On earth and in the realm of the spirits it was felt and the discerning powers scurried to safety for they knew that something huge was going
Damien stood at the window for a long time as torrents of thoughts came to his mind and he allowed them all. Snippets of memories from his days in the World of Origins filled his mind and he tried to remember his days before he was awakened but he couldn’t. Bitterness filled his heart when he thought back to the time that his kind was facing persecution from humans and more loathing filled his heart as he realised that it was the period before his Awakening. “So, while I was asleep behind the veil, those I was supposed to protect and lead were suffering that much,” he thought in anger as he slammed his fist against the wall of the room where the window rattled. “Well, I would say that you should not beat yourself up over what you can’t change now but since you will go ahead and do so anyway, why should I bother?” Helios spoke up in the otherwise quiet room as the sounds of the household activities as they started the day penetrated the room. “I swear f you give me any crap right now
Butler Shawn had already told Damien the night before that he should just go to school this morning and he would have to take him to his new assigned duty that day when he came back since they were unable to get it done the day before.Damien said nothing about the slap that the girl in red gave him in the hospital hall. He doubted if Butler Shaw could have done anything about it anyway. Since he did not want to cause the man any more grief from the lady, he simply kept his mouth shut as the girl glared at him when they joined Butler Shawn outside again. It was as if she was daring him to say anything.Damien did not take the bait and the girl pushed him out of the way as she entered her car. “Be grateful that the nurse said it was just a sprain and thank your poor head that I am in a good mood today if not you will rot in jail for this!” she snapped as she started her car gingerly with her wrapped hand. “Don’t you dare think that this is over!” she said as she winced at the pain.“An
“You what?” Sky laughed out loud on their way to the basketball tryouts when Damien told him about what he saw that morning.Damie, who only wanted to know why the two of them would react that way gave Sky an askance look when the latter bent over in his joy.“You…you mean you caught them in the act? Damn, of course, they would act weird. I bet those two are cheating!”“Cheating? Cheating what?” Damien asked in confusion as he still did not understand what Sky was talking about. He knew that as a student, you were not allowed to cheat in class but then why would HG Salem or the cook cheat when they were not students?Sky curbed his laughter when he saw the confused look on Damien’s face. “It is like this, I am sure that those two are married and from logical deductions, they have to be married to different partners, or wait…has anyone ever told you that those two are a couple?”Not that they talked to him directly about things like that anyway but then Damien had never heard them sayi
Damien got into the basketball team; at least he got the opportunity to come for the tryouts, all to the displeasure of the team and many others. “Ashton was not going to like this” was the main litany on their lips. Mr Bruce, a new coach, just resumed work that semester after the last coach was dismissed by the school board due to a complaint from a student whose mother happened to be part of the board. Mr Bruce still didn’t know how the school system works or it could be that he choose not to let their ways affect him as he insisted on doing what he felt was right for the students. All the team’s protests seemed unfounded without any tangible reason and he dismissed them as he allowed Damien to join the team. If he could pass the tryouts of course. Jax Meyer thought the same as well and Sky automatically approved that Damien would be a great addition.
Damien would have laughed out loud at Sky’s expression when he peaked out from beneath his paint-drenched eyelids before he quickly shut his eyes again. Especially when the latter wanted to rush over to Damien and he was also conscious of splattering his white sneakers with the pool of red paint that looked more like congealed blood on the floor.Yes, it would have been hilarious if he was not drenched in the same paint that threatened to choke him as he felt it dried up beneath his nose, over his closed eyelids, the weight weighing down his ruined uniform. Spitting mad was an understatement of what he was feeling at the moment.Helios' statement sparked his fury more and he could feel the invisible Ring of Origins heated up on his finger and a desire to unleash all it could do on these idiots, his sense heightened and he could hear the bastards that drenched him as they hooted down the hallways as they left the building. Those idiots. “He would get them good” the threat rang true and
“What happened to you?” Damien’s head jerked towards the direction where the querying voice came from and he sighed inwardly when he saw that it was the tawny-eyed girl. What is she doing here now? Her timely appearance reminded him of the girl called Morgan and he wished she would just leave him be because he was in no mood to be civil to anyone! He was about to pass her by when she snapped at him “I am talking to you!” she yelled in a tone he had never heard her use with him before. The “I am the head girl and you have to listen to me” tone.Well, that was it!“I heard you. I do not want to answer you” he replied as civilly as he could and he gave no damn that her eyes widened a bit.She looked around as if expecting someone then looked back at him “Who did this to you?”What did she want with him? She was one of the reasons for his trouble after all. He thought in anger before he shrugged nonchalantly. He wanted to pass her by again but then she held his hand.Damien was surprised
Sky lend Damien a spare cloth since the school uniform was beyond repair now. Sky advised him to get under the shower for a hosing down, which did not help much. If nothing else, it made the uniform look like something that had been dragged through a graffiti war and back.Michael was not around at The Abode when Damien followed Sky home and he didn't wait long after getting spare clothing to change into. Sky talked about getting him a new uniform and Damien agreed that getting spare ones would help especially now that it would be hard to put on the one that had been dealt many blows already. The clothes were given to Solara and she promised to do her best to get them cleaned up. Throwing all caution to the wind, Damien activated his teleporting mechanism and in no time, he was at the edge of the Macmillan’s property. He made himself visible and he walked briskly to the house. He did not attempt to greet those on the porch at all since he knew they wouldn’t answer him anyway.“Did yo
