Chapter 4

Like a dream, Luther urged himself to wake up, but it was just too real, the word ‘Master’ baffled him and left him standstill.

Throughout his lifetime he had heard other names that were not pleasant to the heart, but this particular name he was referred to gave him chills.

He wanted to tell the macho men that they got the wrong person, but he remained mute instead, and bowed his head so they didn't tell how scared he was.

If somehow they found out that he was the wrong person, he was prepared for another round of embarrassment.

The men walked towards the building, it was bigger than any residential house he had ever seen, not even that of his in-laws, and the weirdest part was where it was located.

As the men began to walk towards the building, he just followed them till they were inside this glamorous gold like castle. Amused by the sight, words couldn’t explain what it felt like to be inside such a place.

Gradually, he was led into a room in this castle.

The walls were golden and the bed was lush and luxurious. He felt goosebumps being there. He instantly felt unworthy of so much luxury.

“Where am I?” He asked the man who led him into the room.

“This is your room, master, you will get treated by the home nurse while you settle, your mother will be coming to see you soon” he said then left Luther in the room.

Luther took the liberty to look around, his eyes met so many glamorous designs but the moment he sighted a portrait, he felt ripples of heat take charge in his body.

It was a picture of a man who looked so much like him. At first he had assumed his portrait was hung on the wall, till he noticed the age difference, the major difference was the hair and the eyes, and just looking at it, Luther was left in a state of delima.

He had never seen this man, but it looked so much like him.

“Luther '' A familiar voice said from behind, his mothers voice brought about a wave of nostalgia, it made him sad and angry to see her again.

Her face was like he remembered though she looked older now.

With tears in her eyes, she managed to smile at him, but his dislike for her superseded any emotion.

He remembered how badly she treated him as a child, she was all he had at a certain point in his life, and one day she could not take the pain anymore, she left him for days in an uncompleted building to fend for himself until he was carried to an orphanage home.

Just to be standing before him twenty two years, “Luther my baby” she walked towards him as tears trickled down her eyes.

Luther moved backward, with his hand positioned towards her.

“Don’t come any closer”

“I didn’t mean to leave you. I know you hate me sweetheart, but you must come to understand that I couldn’t take care of you” the pitch of her voice decreased as she went on her knees.

Luther looked away immediately, hate and anger intertwined with his reasoning, which pushed every other occurrence aside.

“That wasn’t enough reasons to plague my entire existence, I have a wife to go back to, so tell me why I am here” his tone was abrupt.

“I never stopped watching over you, and I knew you will hate me that’s why I didn’t come any close but Luther my dear, please don’t hold it against me, I am back now and I am not going anywhere, I want to make it up to you”

“Go straight to the point” he stared directly at her now.

She wasn’t looking bad compared to him, he had thought she had died but instead she looked flawless, her hands were covered in gold rings and her clothes looked regal, while on his side, he was dressed in rags, a scarred face and a broken heart.

It’s been twenty years, and she had exceeded what he used to remember about her, and it made his heart clench even more.

“This is your fathers house, your real father and before you say anything, just know he didn’t accept me when I told him about you, not until now” her shallow explanation had Luther in a haze of confusion, so all along, he belonged to a man this wealthy and he was made to leave a shitty life?.

His feet fell to the floor, as realization struck him, it was barely past the twenty four hours in a day but he had felt so many emotions. So many memories crossed through his mind, from his childhood to his current stage, all he had known was tough love and pain, and somewhere out there, was his father who would have taken him out of this mess but he didn’t.

“Luther” his mother ran towards him.

“Don’t come any closer, just stay where you are, I can hear you from over here” he stated, and she stood her ground.

“You are the sole heir of the Cruz family, your father personally wanted you to know he was foolish for not looking for you”

“How about you, you left me too didn’t you?”

“But Luther…”

“I don’t need your explanation, I need to go back home.”

“Don’t; wait you need treatment” she urged but Luther walked past her, nothing made sense to him, and he didn’t want to wait to hear more draining information about his life. What were they going to tell him now?

That he owned all this and a trillion dollars?.

“Master!” Mattew walked towards him and so did his mother.

The moment he held Luther’s hands, he handed him a card.

“ Call me.”

Luther wanted to reject it but instead he took it then walked out of the building, he had no means of going back home so Mattew took him towards the direction he demanded he would be dropped, and being Late Mister Cruz personally accountants and family lawyer he tried telling Luther all that he owned and why he owned it, but Luther continuously dismissed him.

As Luther got home nova saw him with a swollen lips and very bruised face, “what happened to you?” she said ruffling through his body, in panic.

Where could he start from? Was it when he was smashed on the face by her brother and betrothed lover? Or the fact that he might as well be the richest man she would ever know.

“Nothing” he replied then took his seat in the living room.

“Did you get into a fight, you need to get treated” She ran into the room and brought out their aid box with bandages and spirits to clean his wound.

While at this Luther could only think about all that had happened that day, what if it was true and somehow he owned a trillion dollars, what will he do with it, he only ever had two issues at hand, and it was taking care of his family and proving to his in laws that he was honorable and a victim of circumstance.

After Nova was done, she laid beside him, still sober, her eyes were still wet, maybe she was regretting being with him but didn’t want to tell him, he wouldn’t judge her, knowing she was the best thing that happened to a man like him.

“So do you want to go back home?”

Nova looked at him, then waved her head, “ My home is with you. ”
