BLACKMAIL

Burdened by the shame and disgrace of the suit against her mother, Clara decided to reach out to Michael to help. Michael refused to see her but after a lot of begging, decided to meet with her. They agreed to meet in a quiet park in the middle of the night to keep away from prying eyes.

On his way there, his mind flashed back to the day of the divorce. Everything came to him as if he were in that scent that day.

‘Thank you for agreeing to meet with me Michael.’ Clara said. Michael nodded. It was not his plan for them to stay long so that the fewer words he said, the faster the conversation would be, or so he hoped. Clara continued.

‘Please is there any way you can help me with this case? It is tearing me apart.’

‘I wish I could. I don’t know how to help you.’ Michael responded.

There was silence. Clara continued,

‘or is it that you don’t want to help me at all?’

Michael didn’t say anything. it pained him to Clara this way. He had loved her genuinely and she knew so. He had loved her
