CHAPTER FOUR

[Estimated remaining task time: 8 hours] [Ting! Transaction successful]

[Startup task completed successfully] [Send reward to user]

Max and Irrisia were enjoying their romantic dinner while taking in the beautiful view from the balcony of a fancy restaurant. Max walked over to his table followed by the sound of Irrisia's cell phone showing the results of the transfer to his account.

"Wow, you're really paying me?" asked Irrisia, not expecting her fantastic offer to be actually paid by Max. "You think I'm a fraud?"

"This is really surprising. The geeky kid who's become the center of attention only when he's being bullied turns out to be a tycoon, huh? Are you the hidden son of a tycoon?"

Max smiled blushingly. "I wish I was, but I'm not destined to have a family."

"You can make your own later," Irrisia said, then drank the high quality wine with such grace that Max was stunned.

"I'm quite impressed that you're such a no-fuss person. It's even late and I broke my promise to pay you during the day, but you didn't protest or get angry," Max said, waiting for Irrisia's response.

"I don't know, I don't know why either... Since I met you, it's like I've been presented with a lot of exciting new things to enjoy. You could say that I enjoy my time with you, to the point of forgetting my work."

"Isn't it too soon to fall in love? I heard that your standards are set by Orion Stark, and no one has yet to break through those standards."

"It sounds like I'm setting the standard too high for a man, when I just don't have the time to date, haha."

"Really? What are you so busy with that you don't have time to fall in love? Are you trying hard to make money?"

"Is there any effort that isn't very hard and extra for money? There are even people who are willing to die for money," Irrisia retorted, making Max laugh. They laughed and there was no longer any awkwardness, it felt like the wall that separated them was slowly crumbling and bringing them closer together.

Closer and closer until Max dared to hold Irrisia's hand. "Hm, what is this? Isn't it too soon to fall in love?"

"I just want to enjoy what's in front of me; a beautiful woman who even drinks beautifully, a rosy orange sunset sky and a beautiful view of the city. It's perfect."

"Probably because I like beauty." "All women love it."

"No, I mean, ever since I was a kid I wanted to be a model. They look like the definition of beauty when they walk gracefully on the catwalk. I'm trying to get into a modeling school and become a top model."

"Then I'll support you."

Irrisia smiled, but she didn't tell Max to let go. Irrisia even returned the grip while enjoying her wine. "Anyway, did you see the faces of those two? Is your mission complete?" Irrisia asked.

"Zaco and Tiff? Yes, I saw their faces and I'm very satisfied now."

"You're not someone who holds grudges, are you? You see, if I were you, I would have smashed that brute's head into the floor until it bled, just like he did to you in the gym."

"I want to too, but I can't."

Irrisia stared in surprise. "Why? You were pretty cool when you made him kneel earlier."

"It was just luck. You just look at Zaco's body proportions, someone that big can be made to kneel by someone like me. If it's not luck then what is it?"

"Hahaha! I thought you were trying to become strong overnight too!" said Irrisia in a joking tone.

"I don't have that much motivation to turn myself into Superman overnight. I just wanted to get back at them for their arrogance, especially Tiffany. I've never felt such heartbreak in my life."

Max looked sad. After all, Tiffany's betrayal was still a wound in his heart. He wasn't fully healed yet, so Irrisia tried to make him forget the pain for a moment.

"I want to buy cotton candy down there!" Irrisia exclaimed, pointing to the cotton candy vendor across the street from their restaurant. "Shall we cut dinner short and go find some new entertainment?"

Max, who had been frowning, now smiled and complied with Irrisia's request. They left the restaurant and went to buy cotton candy across the street.

"Get your car, I'll take you to a nice place after this."

"You're going to buy cotton candy yourself? Who's going to pay?"

Irrisia almost laughed. "Gosh, Maxime, I'm not so poor that I can't pay for a single confectionery. Are you underestimating me?"

Max laughed as he realized what she had said. "Haha, sorry, I'm getting used to being rich I guess." "That's good. It's good to get used to good things."

After that, Max let Irrisia buy the cotton candy of her dream by herself. While he took his luxury car in the parking lot with a blossoming feeling. It seems Tiffany was right that Max can change his heart quickly. Was he in love with Irrisia? Would tonight belong to just the two of them?

"Hey, hurry up, princess!" Max shouted from across the street, while Irrisia was already preparing to cross with a pink cotton candy cat character in her hand.

Max smiled and waited for Irrisia, but suddenly the system beeped and a screen appeared in front of him. [Ting!]

[New task entered]

[Task: Save Irrisia Blaneur from danger] [Reward: $3,500,000]

Max frowned, he didn't understand the meaning of the task his system gave him. He shook his head and read again, the task remained the same. Save Irrisia Blaneur from danger? But what kind of danger was she in?

Irrisia looked so happy, she was even crossing the street with big, carefree steps, until a luxury car drove up so fast and hit her hard.

BRAK!

Max was dumbfounded and the system screen disappeared, so he could clearly see Irrisia lying on the street with blood like it was going to drown her. The people there screamed hysterically and the car that hit her sped up immediately after stopping.

Max saw who was driving the car, but he was only focused on Irrisia.

"Irrisia " Max got out of his car with shaky steps, approaching Irrisia who was badly injured and looked

impossible to save. "ANYONE PLEASE HURRY UP AND CALL AN AMBULANCE!"

***

"Paralyzed?" Max repeated what the doctor said in his trembling voice.

Irrisia was immediately taken to the hospital and fortunately she could be saved after a 4-hour major surgery. The impact destroyed her body, and the doctor told Max that Irrisia would be paralyzed.

"It's not her legs that are the problem, but the brain-centered movement system that was slightly damaged due to the violent impact on her head and spine."

"You call that slightly damaged?"

"Yes. Because if other parts of the brain were damaged as well, your girlfriend might not have been able to be saved. Be thankful that she is a strong woman."

"What should I be thankful for!" Max snapped, angry. "She... she wants to be a model, she has to walk the catwalk but how will she walk if she's paralyzed!"

The doctor seemed at a loss for how to react, so he just sighed and looked down deeply. "I'm so sorry, sir."

After the doctor left, Max sat down in frustration. He pulled at his own hair as he regretted not being able to save Irrisia. The task his system had given him had failed him.

"F*ck the system! Now Irrisia can't walk and it's because of me!" Max blamed himself, but then he remembered something.

He had seen who the person driving the car was... the person who had hit Irrisia. "Zaco, I'll kill you!"
