“Host? System? What is happening? I was dying just now! What is happening? Why am I still alive? I can remember falling from the rooftop.” Ethan panicked as he looked around, but he was in a dark room, so he couldn't tell where he was or what he was doing in the dark.

“Am I dead and sent to where poor men stay? Am I going to spend eternity here?” He questioned invisibility as he placed his hand on his body to check if he was hurt.

Just then, he recalled when he was falling from the rooftop and heard a loud voice that echoed in his head.

“Am I insane now? From poverty to insanity?” His eyes widened as he froze for a second. He felt like he wasn't going to be a normal human again.

[How can System be linked to someone who is weak and stupid too?]

The mechanical voice came again, and this time, Ethan was startled. He was set to stand up and run away, but then he stopped and looked around.

“Who said that? Who are you?” He asked, his eyes bulging out in fear and uncertainty. He needed an explanation, and of course, he needed a real explanation, not some junk.

[According to Host’s question, System has been linked to Host just to help him get revenge on everyone who called Host weak!]

[I am the REINCARNATION REVENGE SYSTEM and have been activated by you.]

The loud voice enunciated, explaining briefly, but Ethan still didn't believe it.

“System? Show yourself!” He commanded, waiting to see it, but it wasn't that possible. That wasn't how things worked.

[Host request can't be completed at the moment.]

[System only exists in Host head and can't be revealed unless necessary.]

“You've got to be kidding me! How the fuck did you get into my head? What am I doing here? Am I not dead? Or, is this how the poor dead get tormented?” He asked a lot of questions that the RRS system couldn't catch up to or respond to.

“Hello?” He called out, but the voice didn't say a word to him. It kept quiet, and he had no choice but to find his way out.

He stood up from the ground and walked over to the door. Just as he was about to open it, the REINCARNATION REVENGE SYSTEM spoke up with a loud voice.

[Host shouldn't open the door. When he opens the door, Host will get punished.]

“You are just in my head and aren't real!” He shut his eyes as he took a deep breath.

[System is the only trusted part of Host. Host has to obey or get punished!] The System warned again, but then Ethan didn't believe it.

There was no way he was going to listen to a robotic-like voice in his head. He wasn't in a movie.

He immediately opened the door against his system's wishes, and just then, he was astonished by the sight before him.

Gideon, Nathan, Samuel, and Nick—his college bullies—were standing before him with metallic rods in their hands, and even more shocking, they were putting on the school uniforms.

It happens that they've been searching for Ethan but haven't seen him. When he kept arguing with his system, they overheard him and waited for him to come out of the room.

“I'm imagining and seeing things, right? First, it was a system of rubbish in my head, and now...” He rubbed his eyes as he stared at them again.

“You think you can hide from us forever, don't you?” Gideon snarled as he glared at Ethan.

At this point, Ethan was more confused. Gideon killed him a few minutes ago. How was he in a uniform? Ethan looked down on himself, and seeing that he was in a uniform too, he couldn't help but laugh so hard.

“You are laughing? Let's see if you can laugh when we are done with you!” Gideon declared, and immediately, they all attacked Ethan, hitting him so hard with the rod in their hands.

“Ahhh!” He shouted immediately, as the pain he felt was more than he could imagine. He fell to the ground, and they kept hitting him. He tried his best to cover his face too.

“What's happening? Why does it feel so real?” He said inwardly as he tried to escape their blows and kicks, but it wasn't possible.

“Hey! Hey… voice in my head! Are you there?” Ethan asked as he tried to get a response from his system.

[Host doesn't have to speak out loud for System to hear] It warned him.

“Like you are real!?” He said it inwardly, trying to stifle the pain he was feeling on the inside.

[System heard that] it snapped with fury evident in its voice.

“Just help me! Help me, and I promise to listen to you,” Ethan begged at this point. The blows he was getting were beginning to get to him. He had begun to bleed too, and no one was separating them.

Everyone, including the teachers, feared Gideon.

[To help Host, Host must complete a simple task, unless, of course, Host is too weak and a coward.]

“What? Help me! I didn't ask for a task or insults!” Ethan struggled to speak at this moment.

The RRS system refused to speak to him, seeing that he was still pretty stubborn. And he realised this.

“Fine, what's the task? I'll do anything to get out of here!” he asked, biting his lower lips in pain.

“Ahhh!” He screamed even louder.

[To be free from bullies, Host has to fight back.]

“What? If I can fight back, why haven't I done so? Why would I ask a silly voice in my head for help!?” He lashed out, trying to show his frustration.

[That's all Host has to do, and System will reward Host with another life and help] it uttered with a deeper voice, and at this point, Ethan had no other choice but to fight back.

He immediately recalled that Gideon killed his mother, and even worse, he had pushed him off the cliff just to kill him and end the fact that he sold fake drugs to the hospital. Ethan also recalled getting betrayed and cheated by his girlfriend with Gideon and just then, he found the boldness to defeat them.

His heart raced with anger and fury as he stood right up to his feet, and immediately, he grabbed Nathan, who was closer to him, and punched him in the face.

Everyone that was watching froze with their jaws dropping, including Gideon and others. No one believed that Ethan could do such a thing or that he could fight back.

Nathan, seeing that he had been humiliated before everyone, couldn't hold it in. He was going to make Ethan pay for acting in such a way.

"Err, system or host? Whatever you are, I've done what you asked. I think it's time you get me out of here and now! Pleasee!” He begged, seeing Nathan charge towards him, and he was getting closer to him too.

[Task 1 RRS has been completed successfully, and System has to help Host out. Integration of reward in 1… 2… 3… The host has successfully earned a new life and 10℅ RRS points.]

“Can you be fast!?” Ethan requested as he shut his eyes, waiting for Nathan's blow or a saviour.

[Process successfully completed]

*******

“Ethan? Why are you closing your eyes while I speak to you?” A familiar voice instantly questioned Ethan, making him snap his eyes open.

He was faced with no other person than Camilla, his girlfriend, who had cheated on him. He still can't believe she's in uniform.

“Where am I this time? What am I doing here? Can't I just go back?” Ethan looked around as he tried getting his head into the game. He grabbed his hair tightly and could haul it off if care wasn't taken. He was going insane. Everything happening around him was new and mind-blowing.

“Ethan, are you okay? Baby?” Camilla called him softly as she stared into his eyes.

“What are you doing here in uniform?” Ethan questioned like the fool she saw him as.

“Come on, Ethan... I'm here for my father's proposal, which I requested you write for him. He really needs the job. You should give him the proposal instead of submitting it yourself. I bet he can make it better!” Camilla said, trying to convince Ethan, but just then, Ethan recalled.

He could recall this moment, when he gave Camilla his proposal to be the CEO of the Newhope robotics company. They happened to be the best in the future, and Camilla's father got the post with his help. Ethan remembered how she cursed him even after helping her and her father.

Immediately, his fist tightened. He wished to hit her and break up with her, but it sure wouldn't be any fun. He looked at the billboard behind her, and that was all he needed to know that he had really reincarnated.

The dates and year had changed. It was 2024, meaning he had gone back in time ten years before his death. He was living his second life, and there was no way he was going to make the mistakes he made in his last life.

Just as he had promised himself, he was going to make everyone pay for looking down on him.

“Ethan you…” Camilla was going to say, but then he chirped in.

“I'll be applying for the post, Camilla. Don't you think giving your father my proposal is wrong? Besides, he is sensible too. I think he should write his proposal himself! Unless he is incompetent!” Ethan let out with a sneer curling up on his lips, and without a second thought, he turned on his heels and walked out on Camilla, who was stunned.

This wasn't the Ethan she used to know; this was a new version with a Revenge system!

Ethan left Camilla's side and headed right for a calm and quiet class. He was also trying his best to be vigilant. He wouldn't want the eyes of his bullies to find him. It was better to avoid them than punch them in the face, just as his system had ordered him to do the first time. He kept breathing heavily as he locked himself in the hall where he had entered. He sat down and tried to calm his nerves. It was time to know the truth; it was time to understand it all. Although he knew that he had reincarnated, he still needed more details to explain what was happening to him. “System? System!” He called out with an audible voice, like he was having an argument with his system. [Host doesn't have to speak out so loud for system to listen!] It warned him again, and he recalled it. He instantly became calm. “Sorry there… But can you explain what's happening? Because trust me, I'm about to lose it. What's really happening, and how did you get into my head?” Ethan questioned, his gaze f

Why hadn't he been killed? And why had the shot merely echoed through the air?In that moment of uncertainty, his gaze fell upon a figure standing before him: a young man, roughly his own age. He was protecting Ethan and in this case he was curious. No one has ever stood in for him before.“Who is this?” He ques

“Who are you, really? You are not the weakling everyone used to know!” James inquired, putting Ethan in a state of confusion, fear, and uncertainty. Ethan wasn't sure how he was going to react to James's question. His identity must be concealed. It must be hidden. There was definitely no way anyone should find out that he had reincarnated, and with a system too. He kept mute and could only turn to James with a stare filled with apprehension. His heart had begun to race rapidly too, and although he wished to speak, his lips were too heavy to explain his situation. He feared getting caught and not having his revenge. Just then, James walked slowly towards where Ethan was standing again, and with his eyes squinted, he gazed right into Ethan’s eyes, his attention fully concentrated on Ethan. “You are not him; you've changed. Something in you has changed. The Ethan I know will never ever speak back at anyone! Who are you?” James asked again, this time with a more drastic tone. Ethan's

“Congratulations on becoming the new CEO of the Newhope Robotics company!” The voice sounded, and at that moment, Ethan couldn't help but freeze for a split second. It felt like a dream. There was definitely no way that anyone was going to recruit him as the CEO of a company; the same company that he had avoided applying to because of Camilla's father. His grip around the phone tightened as his heart raced with joy immediately. [Hot has been rewarded! Congratulations] Tears rolled out of his eyes as he ended the call and dropped the phone right on his bed. Who would have believed or imagined it to be this way? Who would have believed he'd get a system that would help him get this high? ‘Thank you so much, RRS!’ He said inwardly as his eyes became moist. Just as he was still feeling emotional, his mother's voice echoed through the house. “Ethan? Ethan, it's time to get to work at the construction site.” Ethan immediately stood from his bed and rushed out of his room, his brows fu

Just show…” Ethan was going to say, but the second he turned to his left, the sight he saw immediately infuriated him, and he instantly tightened his fist. His eyes had caught sight of Mr. Han, Camilla's father, in the company, and just then, the words his girlfriend or Camilla said to him before he walked into the company rang in his mind. He also recalled the past and how he was treated by Mr. Han. “Sir?” James called out, seeing that he had been quiet for so long that he needed to get words out of his mouth, and watching him just stare at someone he barely knew made James curious. “James?” Ethan called out, making James respond immediately as he bowed his head to Ethan without delay. “Send Mr. Han to my office, and I mean now!” Ethan commanded with a smirk curling up on his lips before he looked away from where Mr. Han was standing.
