Chapter 5

“Bastard, you are the cause of everything. He dares you fall the bag on the floor. Do you know how much that bag cost?”

The man yelled at Marcus again. Marcus at that moment couldn't say anything; his mouth was open, and words refused to come out. He couldn't believe he was seeing Hazel with another man; it felt like a dream, only if he could wake up from it as quickly as possible.

Hazel wasn't supposed to be here; she told him she was going to her room to get things done. How come she is here all of a sudden and with another man? What is happening? Marcus and Hazel were staring at each other. Marcus managed to utter his heart was heavy.

“Hazel, what is going on here? What are you doing here? Who is this man?”

Hazel, at that point, was speechless; she couldn't say anything. She never thought she would meet Marcus here, of all places. He told her he was going to see his friend and all of a sudden, he is here. She wanted to explain what was happening when Penelope uttered

“She doesn't have anything to explain to you, you homeless dog; hasn't she suffered enough in your hands, you glorified idiot?” Penelope's eyes were burning with range. She has been waiting for this day to come, so she can kick the bastard out of her daughter's life. Now that the opportunity has come, she must make good use of it.

“This gentleman is Mr. Charles, the heir to the Kingston family. For your information, he want to marry Hazel and help our family secure a contract, and we all had already agreed to it.”

The Kingston family is ranked as a second-class family in Summerville. They are known for their wide connections when it comes to business in Summerville. At that moment, Charles raised his shoulder a little. He worked hard for this day, and it seems he's finally getting what he deserves. Marcus couldn't believe what he just heard. How is it even possible that he spoke to Hazel not long ago before he left the house? She never made mention of this; it could be that she was keeping it a secret from him, and it just finally exposed herself.

“Mother, I know Hazel has gone through a lot just because of me, but she is still my wife, and we are both married. I have worked hard for this family. I gave my best to make sure everyone was happy.”

“Just shut that mouth of yours. I know your head is full of shit, since you have worked hard, so tell me what you achieved. Every hard-working man has something they have achieved. Where are yours? Show me yours, you bastard.”

Marcus couldn't say anything at that point. It was fine. It was strange that Penelope would say such a thing when she collected the little salary the Hudson family pays him every month. She gave him nothing from it. How can she utter such nonsense? He wanted to say something when Penelope uttered

“I heard you were sacked today; you must be here to apply for a cleaning job. Is this what you're going to use to take care of Hazel and make sure Ivy attends a good school like her mates who have responsible fathers?”

“No, no, mother I'm here to buy clothes for my wife and daughter.” Penelope eyes squinted, the bastard is still shameless as usual.

“You came here to buy clothes; do you even know how much it costs to buy clothes here? You think it's some kind of roadside market; just look at you; everything you are putting on doesn't even cost 100 dollars, and you're here to buy clothes for my daughter, you bastard.”

She then gazed at the sales representatives.

“You better call the security now; he's here to steal something. this is what he does? He's a thief.”

Marcus couldn't stand Penelope anymore. This isn't the first time she has done this, and she constantly seeks every little opportunity to make him look stupid and useless. He knows that if he paid for the clothes, it would shut her up. Marcus faces the sales representatives.

“Please package all the clothes and tell me how much it will cost.”

The sales representative nods as she quickly calculates the price.

“Sir, the cost of everything is $300,000.”

Marcus didn't feel anything, before it was a huge amount of money to him; he would probably have to work two years under the Hudson family for him to be able to raise such an amount, but things are different now.

“Young man, since the clothes are for my wife-to-be, just let me pay for the clothes. I know you can't afford it; you should leave it for a capable man like me.”

Charles, with a mockery look on his face from the look of things, knows Marcus is useless anyway.

“Don't help this bastard out, Mr. Charles; since he wants to humiliate himself, let him do that it's none of our business.”

Penelope gazes at Marcus with deadly eyes.

“I can take care of the bills myself; I never asked you for help.”

Marcus gazes at Charles with dead eyes; he knows Charles brought Penelope over with money.

Hazel couldn't just stand and watch Marcus humiliate himself in public she utters.

“Marcus, stop pretending as if you can pay the bills. You and I know you can't, just cut off the crap how are you supposed to pay such an amount of money? Just allow him to pay the bills and drop your arrogant behavior.”

Marcus gazes at Hazel. His eyes were cold. He couldn't believe this is the same Hazel he had talked to not long ago, but he doesn't care about what they are all saying; he knows he can pay this little amount of money. Marcus took out the black card. He was confident, he knew he had enough money in it. Everyone was eager to see Marcus pay for the clothes.
