“It’s clear that I’ve already done that.”

She looked up to him with her pretty watery emerald eyes. “When?”

“Wasn’t I the one that made you clean my room? I forced Brit down your throat.”

“So we’re even?”

“If you say so.”

She laughed. That laugh unclouded her brain and made her body temperature normal. Elliot picked her off the floor and cleaned her tears.

“Don’t you ever wonder why I was ready to kill myself so I wouldn’t be with you?”

He dressed her scattered hair. “Why?” he asked, giving eye contact.

“My family was always a holy one. My father did his best to instill utmost holiness into us. I followed it but I didn’t know how my siblings could still harbor hatred for him. It was all a f*****d up sham. They did terrible things to me. Why do terrible things always happen to me?”

“That’s why you left me?”

“No, I was so obedient to our holy ways. It was sudden, you were the devil and I was the holy Queen of Halton. Anyone else would have done the same.”
