Chapter 5

Isidore and Iris roamed around the city to look for an apartment for the time being. Isidore knew he can't swallow the disgusting action of his wife.

After she just revealed that she cheated on him with Jameson Roy, he knew he had to take his sister away from those rascals.

After all, they were the reason why his sister had suffer great pain although it was only for a short amount of time.

“Are you sure you are fully okay now?” Isidore asked again. It was his sixth time of asking about her condition.

Because although he has already trusted the system he still can't ignore the fact that Iris were in a lot of pain just awhile ago.

“I told you, I'm fine! I'm so much fine than I ever was since my illness progressed,” she said as she formed her small muscles in her thin arm.

Isidore sigh. “Okay. Just don't hide your pain from me, okay? I'll be here for you, I'll be here for the both of us.”

Iris smiled to his worried brother. She leaned on the seat of the cab. It was already 1 hour since they used the taxi cab to roam around the city. And Iris was concerned if they still have money to pay for the fare.

“Uhmm. Aren't we enjoying ourselves here? We can just walk you know?” Iris started to opened the conversation. For as far as she know, her brother doesn't have enough money to waste.

Isidore shook his head. “No. It's better this way. Besides you just healed.”

Iris rolled her eyes.“Oh come on! Don't let me be guilty about this. We can just walk. We don't have money to waste! And besides, where are we going anyway?”

“Don't stress yourself about this, okay? Worry about your health. I am more worried about you being angry than the money I'll be wasting.”

“Brother, please?” Iris held his brother's hand waiting for explanation. Isidore gazed at her and heave a deep sigh upon seeing her puppy eyes.

“Alright.” He sit properly. Iris' eyes gleam with joy when she heard her brother's approval. “But promise me you'll no longer ask questions but rather worry only about your health. Okay?” Isidore placed his pinky promise to make a deal.

Iris smiled and accepted his finger. “I promised,” she said.

Isidore smiled back and answered briefly, “We will look for a new apartment. We are no longer living with the White's. That's it. No more buts, no more questions.”

“What?!” Her mouth were agape from what she heard.

She blinked to her brother who was now leaning on his seat and closing his eyes.

“What about—” She was about to ask question but decided to be quiet.

She leaned on her seat and allowing herself to be taken away by her own thoughts.

She realized she doesn't have the right to say and the right to ask. She knew it was because of her why her brother was forced to marry into that family. And she also knew they weren't that good in-laws for the both of them.

Though she have many questions to asked, she remained silent. Because deep inside her, she was happy about her brother's decision.

She didn't know the reason behind it all. But as long as they are away from that cruel and demanding family, she know her brother won't have any hard time to comply with their insulting deed.

Isidore on the other hand was being nervous. One hour has already passed yet they still haven't found an apartment for the both of them.

It was because of the System why he had to come up for his impulsive decision in living away from his cheater wife and his harsh in-laws.

One hour ago...

Right after Isidore and Iris stepped out from the Herbal Farm, new mission was being sent to him by the System.

[New Mission]

He knew everything inside his head were true and were not purely imaginations. He knew that he is not mentally retarded and that this thing called System will be the one to guide him through this revenge he has.

He accepted the new mission and was about to go back to his decision as soon as he read the condition.

[Look For a New Apartment or Live With Julia White Forever]

'What? No way!'

[Host has now 3 hours to complete the mission]

'Live with that cheater woman? No way! I just had my reasons to stay away from that family there is no way I'll be living with her forever!'

Isidore opened his eyes when the cab slowed down and stopped in front of a tall narrow building, Ceres Apartments. The only affordable home for an average earners within Clandver City.

He gazed at the homeless woman sleeping under the roof of an old and already closed building not so far away from Ceres Apartment. He could't see her face but he knew he was having a hard time because of her cough.

He just heave a sigh upon realizing he was not the only one suffering from this unjust life.

He paid the cab using his bank and they went directly to the front desk of the building to ask for its vacancy.

The front desk were looking down on him when he asked about the room.

“We don't offer rooms for homeless and jobless people. Go get yourselves a place on the street.” The lady in the fron't desk named Mrs. Ruth shooed them away.

“I have job. I can pay, I promise. Please just for temporary. Me and my sister need a temporary home, please?” He beg as he gaze at the ticking clock hanged behind the Mrs. Ruth.

It's already 2 hours since the mission has started! He can't afford to waste another 1 hour to look around the City or else the System's punishment will deemed him as a worthless son-in-law forever!

Isidore hurriedly put his employment ID and credit card in front of Mrs. Ruth.

“I told you to get out.”

“Please?” Isidore beg.

She raised her brow and examined the ID carefully.

“You'll have to pay 3 months advance payment. The smallest room is the only one I can give. It is worth 2,000 dollars per month. Therefore you have to pay 6,000 dollars plus 500 dollars for utility f*e. Which is a total of 7,500 dollars all in all.” Mrs. Ruth stayed her strict composure as she continue to scare Isidore from the expensive offer.

But Isidore was never scared about the money.

“Brother, that is too expensive. You barely earn 10,000 dollars per month.” Mrs. Ruth smiled upon hearing his sister's sentiment.

Mrs. Ruth smiled and scoff. “Tsk. I offered you the street but you refused. Stray dogs shouldn't be picky, you know?”

Isidore furrowed his brows from the lady's words. “I'll get the room. Slide my card and I'll pay good for 10 months.”

“What?” Mrs. Ruth was taken aback. “Don't be too full of yourself! You homeless boy, you are nothing but a show off!”

“I said slide my card, lady. Or I'll call your management for customer prejudice.”

Mrs. Ruth gritted her teeth and clenched her fist from annoyance and fury. “Hah! I will! So that everyone here can see how you are trying to scam Ceres Apartments over your show-off tactics!”

“My brother is not a scammer!” Iris defended.

“Shut up!”

Mrs. Ruth put the 20,000 amount and slide his card. She was waiting for his humiliation. Other customers were already looking at them, also waiting for Isidore's humiliation.

But everyone was agape when the payment was successfully sent.

Mrs. Ruth blinked from the shock and humiliation. Her other colleagues shook their head out of disbelief from her actions.

“This way, sir.” Another agent approached Isidore to guide him for the next process.

It was when he signed the papers that the System approved his mission.

[Congratulations for Completing Another Mission!]

[$100,000 is awarded to the host.]

[Stay tuned for another minor mission!]

He let out a deep sigh like he was challenged by an obstacle course.
