Chapter 51

Calista, who was filled with worry, rushed over to Gibson as he was about to wake up from his sleep. She was extremely anxious upon hearing that Gibson had been hospitalized and had to receive several stitches in his abdomen.

"What are you feeling right now? I'll call the doctor," Calista said, turning to leave the room.

But Gibson quickly caught Calista's hand, stopping her in her tracks.

"No need, the nurse was here earlier when I woke up. She checked on me. I just shouldn't move too much," Gibson said, wincing in pain from the stitches on his abdomen. Perhaps the effects of the anesthesia had worn off.

"Really? What happened exactly? How did you get injured like this?" Calista asked, choosing to sit in a chair beside the bed.

Their hands remained intertwined. Calista wore an expression of genuine concern, her forehead furrowing and her face devoid of its usual smile.

"I'm sorry," Gibson replied, not answering Calista's question, feeling guilty for causing her such distress.
