The dim lighting of the hotel suite reflected Lucas Miller’s smug demeanor as he leaned back in a leather armchair, swirling a glass of wine in his hand. Olivia sat across from him, her posture tense, hands clasped tightly in her lap.

“I’m here to apologize for John’s actions,” Olivia began, her voice steady but strained. “He acted out of line, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to mend the relationship between you and my family.”

Lucas smirked, setting his glass down. “Olivia, you’re wasting your breath. This isn’t about apologies.”

“Then what is it about?” she asked, her brows furrowing.

Lucas leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with predatory intent. “It’s about you, Olivia. Forget the project—forget your family. Be with me, and I’ll make all your problems disappear.”

Olivia stiffened, disgust flashing across her face. “What? That’s absurd. I’m married, Lucas.”

“To a nobody,” Lucas sneered. “John can’t give you what you deserve. I can. Power, wealth, status—it’s all yours if you just walk away from him.”

“You’re insane,” Olivia said coldly, rising from her seat. “This conversation is over.”

Before she could turn to leave, Lucas grabbed her wrist, his grip tight. “You’re not going anywhere.”

“Let go of me!” she shouted, struggling against him.

Lucas’s smile darkened. “Don’t make this difficult, Olivia. You knew what you were agreeing to when you came here.”

Fear and anger clashed in Olivia’s chest as she yanked her arm free. “If you lay a hand on me, I swear—”

Before she could finish, Lucas lunged at her, pinning her against the wall. Olivia screamed, but Lucas covered her mouth with his hand.

Meanwhile, downstairs in the lobby, John leaned against the reception desk, his eyes narrowing as the receptionist hesitated.

“Look,” John said, his tone firm, “I know Lucas Miller checked in here. Just give me his room number.”

“I’m sorry, sir,” the receptionist said nervously. “I can’t—”

John reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of cash. “I think you can.”

The receptionist’s eyes darted around before she quickly pocketed the money and scribbled something on a piece of paper. “Room 1203.”

John didn’t wait for a thank-you. He sprinted toward the elevator, his mind racing. What the hell is Olivia doing in his room?

When he reached the door to Room 1203, he heard muffled shouting inside. Without hesitation, John reared back and kicked the door open.

The door flew off its hinges, slamming against the wall. Lucas turned in surprise, his hold on Olivia loosening for just a moment. That moment was all John needed.

“Get your hands off her!” John roared, storming into the room.

Olivia broke free and scrambled to the corner, her breathing ragged. “John…”

Lucas’s smug expression quickly turned to panic as John advanced. “Wait, this isn’t what it looks like—”

John’s fist connected with Lucas’s jaw before he could finish his sentence, sending him sprawling to the floor.

“You think you can put your hands on my wife?” John growled, grabbing Lucas by the collar and lifting him off the ground. “You think I’ll let you get away with that?”

“John, stop!” Olivia cried, her voice shaking. “You’ll kill him!”

John didn’t seem to hear her. He threw Lucas across the room, sending him crashing into a glass table. Blood trickled from Lucas’s lip as he tried to crawl away, but John was relentless. He picked up a broken piece of the table and raised it, his eyes blazing with fury.

“John, please!” Olivia stepped in front of him, her hands on his chest. “Don’t do this. He’s not worth it.”

John froze, the weight of her words breaking through his rage. He dropped the makeshift weapon, his chest heaving as he glared down at Lucas.

“Get up,” John barked.

Lucas groaned, his body trembling as he tried to stand. John shoved him back down onto his knees.

“Apologize to her,” John ordered, his voice like thunder.

Lucas glanced at Olivia, then back at John. “You’re insane—”

John grabbed him by the hair, forcing him to look up. “I said apologize.”

“I’m sorry!” Lucas stammered, fear etched across his face. “I’m sorry, Olivia!”

Olivia turned away, her face pale. “Let’s just leave, John.”

John released Lucas, who slumped to the floor, groaning in pain. He grabbed Olivia’s hand and led her out of the room without another word.

The car ride home was silent, the tension between them almost unbearable. Finally, Olivia spoke.

“That was reckless,” she said, her voice shaking with both relief and anger. “Do you realize what you’ve done? Lucas won’t just let this go.”

“I don’t care,” John replied, his eyes fixed on the road. “He needed to be put in his place.”

“And what about the project?” Olivia snapped. “You’ve destroyed any chance we had of salvaging it.”

John tightened his grip on the steering wheel. “I told you I have a plan.”

“A plan?” Olivia scoffed. “You’ve been nothing but impulsive, and now you expect me to believe you’ll fix this? Lucas will destroy us, John. And I won’t let my family go down because of you.”

“What are you saying?” John asked, his voice low.

“I’m saying I’m done,” Olivia said firmly. “I’ll file for divorce. This marriage is over.”

John’s heart sank, but he refused to let her words break him. “Fine,” he said, his voice steady. “But before you do, remember this—I’ll fix everything. By the end of the night, Lucas’s family will come begging for our forgiveness.”

Olivia stared at him, disbelief etched across her face. “You’re delusional.”

“Watch me,” John said confidently as he parked the car. Olivia got out without another word, slamming the door behind her.

Instead of following her inside, John turned the car around and drove back to the hotel. He wasn’t done with Lucas.

When he reached the suite again, Lucas was on the phone, his voice panicked.

“Dad, you don’t understand,” Lucas was saying. “That lunatic—he almost killed me!”

John stepped into the room, his presence silencing Lucas mid-sentence. Lucas’s face paled as John walked toward him.

“I’m not done with you,” John said, his tone cold.

“Wh-what do you want?” Lucas stammered.

“You’re going to fix this,” John said, leaning down until their faces were inches apart. “Or I’ll go straight to your family. Let’s see how they feel about your little games when I tell them everything.”

Lucas swallowed hard, the weight of John’s threat sinking in. “You wouldn’t dare.”

“Try me,” John said, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “You’ll find out just how far I’m willing to go.”
