3 – Building the Team

"These evil beings are sentenced to hell in my world's afterlife." Zaa explained while walking with Matt, observing the construction workers doing various kinds of work, "My God promises they can go to heaven or even become his crew if they keep up the good work."

"No wonder they're so excited." Matt squinted at a woman in a shabby dress chopping down a tree with an axe. She was screaming like a madman, and her eyes bulged so much they looked like they were about to pop out of their sockets.

"And we have enhanced their speed and strength." Zaa went on. "So, they will work faster and more efficiently."

"I see…." Matt grimaced at the sight of a loinclothed elf man carrying rocks up to the height of an elephant. That man also has an intense expression.

"No one forced them." The supervisor stopped and looked at Matt with a smile. "But if they refuse this job, they will return to hell. So, this is not slavery. And remember one thing. These are cruel lawbreakers who deserve punishment."

Matt tried to ignore what was happening around him. If he replaces Zaa, there's no guarantee that things will be different.

And he might do something similar soon.

"Mr. Zaa? What is it?" Matt raised an eyebrow when he noticed the supervisor's smile looked weird. "You want to ask something?"

The supervisor widened his smile. "Yeah, sir. I have a few questions."

"Then, just ask." Matt chuckled. "You don't need to hesitate with me."

Zaa took a deep breath, then exhaled. "Why is the path from the fighter's entrance to the arena so long, sir!? Why is the arena square!? And why should there be those things!? I'm also worried about the location of the audience! How can they enjoy the match, then!? What is the function of that big screen!? Spectators in the stands above can use binoculars to see more clearly! With all due respect, sir! This design of yours is absurd!"

Matt smiled back. He tapped Zaa's shoulder and said. "You'll understand eventually. Now, you better focus on your work."

The supervisor's mouth could only open and close without any words, and Matt just left him. He was quite surprised that someone like Zaa couldn't understand his vision. What Matt came up with wasn't anything new. He only made a few modifications according to his wishes.

"Megumi hasn't woken up yet?" After a long walk from the construction site, Matt approached a woman with pink curly hair sitting on a rock.

She glanced at Megumi. That assistant snored on her sleeping bag and drooled.

"I'm not sure that position indicates that she is awake." That woman in the white nurse's dress looked at Matt again. With a tone devoid of enthusiasm, she muttered. "And my face is here, sir."

Matt moved his gaze from that woman's prominent cleavage to her eyes. "Sorry, Miss Arael."

The young man only glanced at those assets; even then, he didn't do it on purpose.

"That's why I don't like this body shape." She took a deep breath. "I don't know why my god created me like this."

Those words didn't suit her dress which was so tight, further highlighting her body curve. Also, that outfit almost exposed half of her above-average-sized cleavage.

Matt became suspicious that she wanted to attract attention but refused to admit it.

"When are you going to summon the fighters, sir?" Arael asked, still in her spiritless tone. "You didn't call me just to be idle, did you? My main task is to fix the injured fighters…."

"Arrghhh!!!" A scream from afar cut Arael off.

"His body is split into two!!!"

"Medic! Where's the medic!?"

"And also treating the workers." Matt shrugged. "Please help whoever it is, Miss Arael. After this, you can assemble a healing team with me."

The healer took a deep breath, got to his feet, then ran so fast that it raised dust and wind.

That was one of the reasons Matt chose Arael as his organization's chief healer. She can move at speeds far above the average human. It also makes her able to treat someone faster.

Although her personality is a bit strange.

After confirming that Megumi showed no signs of waking up, Matt decided to go ahead with his plan for the time being. He had tired that woman out yesterday, so he didn't want to wake her up.

"Alright…" The young man sat down on a boulder and opened his cell phone, checking the bookmarks of the five individuals he had selected.

Two humans, two elves, and one dwarf.

He checked their profiles one by one to confirm his choice, then tapped the [Summon All] button.

Those individuals appeared in thin air and landed in front of Matt. They didn't crash to the ground like Megumi, but the noise from their landing was enough to snap the assistant's body up from its slumber.

With eyes barely open and hair untidy, she stared at those individuals in silence, then hurriedly put on her glasses. "Why didn't you wake me up when you summoned them, sir!?"

"It's okay."

"But this is my fault because I sleep too much. I apologize. To be materialized in the mortal world, God's servants like me must use an organic body like this. I'm not used to it... I'm sorry, I'm talking about unimportant things."

"Really… It's fine, Miss Megumi."

The assistant stood beside her boss, fixed her hair and clothes, then cleared her throat. "Greetings, great warriors. Welcome to…. Well, we haven't named our organization yet. One thing is certain, Mr. Andrew Nash summoned all of you to fight each other. You may all be surprised by this, but I will explain everything and answer your questions."

Those people's gazes fell on the assistant, who wore a faint smile.

"Nope." Matt raised his hand. "They will not fight."

"You heard it yourself. You're not going to fight." Widening her eyes again, Megumi turned her head to that young man. "They're not going to fight!? What do you mean, sir!? Why summon them then!?"

"I will summon the fighters later. I'm still making the selection." Matt got up from the boulder, holding his cell phone. "But their duties are no less important for the success of our organization." He then approached those people and hissed. "The question is, are you guys ready?"
