Chapter Fifty-one

Charles had barely caught a wink of sleep that Sunday night. Norah and he had spent the weekend on high alert, trying to secure their home from an unforeseen threat – with Emma showing up unannounced, uninvited, and out of the blue on Sunday evening, sending Norah into a state of panic that nearly led her to dial 911. It took Charles all his persuasive powers to prevent her from making that call.

With the first light of Monday morning, Charles had convened an urgent meeting of Oscorp’s top executives. The atmosphere in the conference room was tense, and the grim expressions on the faces of the executives mirrored Charles’ own concern. He knew it was time to unveil the disturbing truth about Emma’s involvement in the recent company fire accident.
