Chapter Nine: A Bored and Confused Chaly
Everyone was in high spirits, celebrating their recent success. However, Chaly was feeling out of place. He was bored, couldn't seem to connect with anyone, and decided to leave the celebration. He went to his room, feeling tired, weak, and sleepy.Jack noticed something was wrong with Chaly and followed him to his room. He knocked on the door, but there was no response. He tried again, and again, until finally, on the fourth attempt, he decided to force the door open. To his surprise, he found Chaly drinking a bottle of alcohol, something he had never seen him do before."Hey man, I've never seen you drink alcohol before. What's wrong, my friend? Talk to me," Jack said, looking at Chaly with sympathetic eyes.Chaly cast a quick glance at Jack and suddenly spoke up. "What are you asking me for? I told you not to bring any other prisoners with you, but you disobeyed me. Now, we don't know where he is or what he's planning to do."Jack tried to calm Chaly down. "Come on Chaly, that man was a good guy. He helped us find Spider, which we wouldn't have been able to do without him."But Chaly was in a bad mood, his temper was flaring, and he shot back. "Nonsense! Get out of my room and remember, if you fail to follow my orders again, I'll do something to you that you'll never forget."Jack left Chaly's room, regretting his decision to follow through on Chaly's promise.Jack tried to shake off the cold that had settled in his body by drinking alcohol, but it was of no use. He could only think back to the morning at Bridge University when he and his best friends Chaly and Spider were running late for their computer class. The three of them were known as the "backbenchers" because they always sat in the back of the class. As they were rushing to get to class, Jack spotted a beautiful girl walking towards them with her boyfriend. The girl had a warm, brown complexion and a charming smile with a small gap between her teeth. She was of medium build with a well-proportioned body. Jack and Spider were both struck by her beauty and stood still, staring at her.Chaly snapped them out of their trance, "Guys, we have to go to class. We've missed several lessons already and you're going to make us miss this one too." he said, also looking at the girl. Jack, still in a daze, replied, "Go ahead if you want. You want me to leave behind those hips and those pretty eyes for a boring computer lesson?""Jack, don't be foolish," Chaly said with a hint of annoyance in his voice. "You want to miss the lesson because of a girl? There are so many girls out there, you'll find another one or you'll see her again another time. But this lesson, it's now or never."Spider tried to calm Chaly down. "Come on guys, Chaly, just because someone is beautiful doesn't mean you have to miss the lesson for her. She might even have a boyfriend with her.""That's not the point," Jack interjected. "Even if you're going shopping for clothes, you can't go naked. So why can't we go for this girl? I think God created her with a lot of care." Jack finished by kissing his fingers."But how?" Spider asked, confused. "How are we going to approach her?""It's simple," Chaly suggested. "Spider, why don't you try your luck and we'll wait for you here? I can see that Jack has already gone mad.""I'm not mad," Jack protested, but when he looked at Spider, he realized that he had already left. Jack was disappointed, but there was nothing he could do about it.As Spider walked, he noticed the man the lady had been talking to say goodbye to the boy and leave. The lady was still packing her books into her bag. Despite feeling nervous, Spider was also happy that the man was gone. He took a deep breath and approached the lady."Excuse me," he said, and the lady looked at him with a friendly smile. "I know this might seem random, but do you happen to know where AGA is?""I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with that," the lady replied.Spider mustered up the courage to continue. "To be honest with you, you're very cute and I just had to come to say hi." The lady smiled again and said, "Hi there.""I'm Spider," he introduced himself."Hi Spider, I'm Helena," the lady replied with a warm smile."Wow, that's a beautiful name," Spider said, impressed. "It's nice to meet you, Helena.""Nice to meet you too, Spider," Helena said, and they exchanged a friendly greeting.Suddenly, Jack appeared from nowhere and greeted the lady. He introduced himself as Jack and told her that Spider was his best friend and that Chaly, who had just arrived, was also a friend of his. The lady introduced herself as Helena. Jack complimented Helena and said that everything about her was cute, including her name. Jack then told Helena that they were students of computer science and that they were studying programming.Helena was impressed and asked if programming was difficult. Jack proudly claimed that he was the best in their class and even in the entire school. Spider and Chaly remained silent as Jack's voice dominated the conversation. Helena commented on Jack's genius and how he spoke with confidence. However, Helena had to leave and thanked them for the meeting. Spider mentioned that her boyfriend might find her there, but she clarified that Luke was just a classmate and not her boyfriend. She still had to go home. Chaly remained quiet, just observing the conversation."Welcome home, it's great to see you again," Chalk said as he greeted the lady spider. The deed did the same, and Jack offered to escort the lady home. However, Jack couldn't resist making an inappropriate remark. "I can see you're single, can I pursue that role?" he asked.Radio, who had a habit of speaking nonsense, intervened. "Stop wasting your time and stay away," he warned Jack.Despite Radio's warning, Jack persisted, but ultimately, Helena went home, leaving Jack disappointed. He was too afraid to follow Spider and Chaly, who was not pleased with Jack's intrusion into their conversation. Jack's behavior ruined the happy atmosphere that the three roommates, including the spider, shared. That night, Jack's wild behavior made everyone unhappy, and he couldn't even bring himself to eat his dinner. The sun had just risen and three boys were stirring from their slumber. They had promised to attend a class that morning and were determined to keep their word. They moved quickly, not speaking a word to each other, eager to reach their destination. As they neared the classroom, Spider spotted Helena getting on a bus filled with education students. Without hesitation, he sprinted towards the bus, and Jack and Chaly, who were left feeling confused and curious, followed suit. They rushed to the back of the bus, searching for Spider, but instead, they found a man introducing himself as Luke."I am Luke, the man of God, and I wrote the Gospel of St. Luke. The Lord said that you should love your neighbor as you love yourself. Here, have an orange fruit," he offered, but Chaly declined, as he was a man of vegetables.Jack was taken aback when he saw Spider sitting next to Helena, chatting and laughing. The sight made him uneasy, as he feared that Spider might win Helena's heart before he ha
Chaly and their group were huddled together at the back of the room, marveling at their newfound wealth. "I can't believe we've become rich in just a matter of seconds," exclaimed Luke with a wide grin. Helena gazed at Chaly in amazement, and they burst into laughter, thoroughly enjoying the trip. Their camaraderie continued until they returned to school. The five guys had become fast friends, and they decided to spend the night at Chaly's house. As they settled in, Chaly divided the money equally among them, and they all rejoiced, reveling in the sheer joy of the moment. It was a night that they would remember fondly for a long time to come. The following morning, the lady took the matter to the Vice Chancellor. She meticulously explained how the group of young men misbehaved, resulting in them stealing from an innocent old man. The VC was extremely disappointed with the boys, especially since he knew Luke's father, who was the Officer-in-Charge of the Police Department (OCPD), and J
The room was silent, except for the cheerful chirping of the Weaver birds that could be heard all around. A man, who appeared to be a lawyer, was present, and although he may have understood the law better than anyone else in the room, he seemed to lack knowledge of the school's rules and regulations. In contrast, the person speaking felt confident in their understanding of the school's guidelines and advised everyone to disregard the lawyer's advice on this matter. Some people in the room seemed to be in a bit of a disobedient mood and they took their time sitting down. The speaker continued, acknowledging two individuals, Helena and Luke, who seemed to have a good track record when it came to discipline. The speaker believed that any minor issues from them might just be the result of peer pressure.Just as the speaker finished, a commotion ensued. It was discovered that a man present had been involved in drug trafficking in the school. The head of the disciplinary department stood u
The Inspector couldn't believe his eyes as he was escorted to join his best friend, Odhimbe, in prison. They were both sent to Jay and Spider's jail, where Odhimbe's power had dwindled and the other prisoners were elated to have a new Inspector. At first, the prisoners were grateful for the change, but it wasn't long before they realized that the new Inspector was far stricter and more ruthless than the previous one, Ondula. The new Inspector wasted no time in making his mark on the prison. He changed the name of the west wing, claiming that it had been named by a useless Inspector. The prisoners grumbled but knew better than to argue with their new authority figure. To make matters worse, the Inspector introduced a new punishment for misbehavior - the "moon fly." It was a deep pit that descended ten thousand feet underground and was home to a swarm of crocodiles. Any prisoner who misbehaved would be thrown into the pit, and the crocodiles would make quick work of them. The other inma
Luke sat down and tried to calm his racing thoughts. The argument had been going on for what felt like hours, with everyone throwing out different suggestions for their next target. They all knew that this was a dangerous game they were playing, but the promise of riches beyond their wildest dreams was too tempting to resist. Finally, after much deliberation, they all agreed on the bank. It was a risky move, but they were confident that they could pull it off.Chaly, the leader of the group, stood up and addressed the rest of the gang. "Well, by the look of things, you people have suggested that we rob the bank to take the money. So write down 'money in the bank'," he said. Everyone quickly jotted down the phrase on scraps of paper, and Chaly himself wrote it on the black wall of the abandoned warehouse they were using as their hideout. He underlined it for emphasis."So, as I said earlier, who built the Westend International Prison is also the same as who built the bank we were suppo
After finishing their dinner, Spider left the group and returned to the planning house. He found Jack sitting beside Helena, speaking in a hushed tone. Spider didn't say anything and instead went to his room to rest. The next morning, after everyone had settled in the planning room, Chaly stood up and said, "Good morning, everyone. As I mentioned yesterday, we have two plans: Plan 1 and No Man's Plan. Let's begin with Plan 1, also known as the Direct Plan."Chaly brought up the bank's blueprint on the computer screen for everyone to see. "As you can see, there are two gates: one for the public and another for the staff. There are also two types of fences: an electric fence and a razor wire fence. However, the razor wire fence is only found at the staff gate."The team listened attentively as Chaly continued to explain the plan in detail. They discussed the best way to bypass the security measures, how to distract the guards, and what to do if anything went wrong. After several hours o
It was around 5 pm when cases involving former inspector Ondula and his colleague were brought before the court. The cases were delivered by concerned citizens of the country who were seeking justice for the innocent people who had lost their lives due to the alleged actions of the two men. The judges present in the courtroom at the time decided to postpone the case for a week, giving the government time to gather tangible evidence in order to prosecute the accused. This decision did not sit well with the citizens, who were eager to see the two men punished for their alleged crimes.Interestingly, Ondula was also being tried for another offense: allowing two prisoners to escape from an international prison, an unprecedented event in the country's history. The gravity of the situation was not lost on the citizens, who were demanding swift and decisive action from the court. As the trial was postponed, tension hung in the air, as the citizens' desire for justice was palpable. Chaly stood up and addressed the group, "Jack, I accept your apology. Now that we're all here, let's move on to the backup plan. This plan only comes into play if the first one fails. We won't waste our time discussing it now. We'll wait until we're in the bank, in case we need to put it into action. We don't want to risk anyone overhearing our plans."Helena spoke up, "Excuse me, Chaly. How exactly are we supposed to make a plan in the bank? We can't just sit down in the middle of the lobby and start discussing it. What if the bank has high-tech surveillance and tracks us down? How are we going to survive that?"Chaly responded, "We'll have to find a way. That's why we're discussing it now. We need to have a solid plan in case something goes wrong. And if I get arrested, everyone needs to be prepared to survive on their own.""Secondly, each of you will wear a microchip that doesn't have GPS in it, but I'll still be able to locate you and communicate with you," Chaly said to the grou
As she entered the restroom, Helena found Charlie, who was supposed to be her contact, waiting for her. He looked worried and started talking in a low voice. "Helena, we have a problem. The police have discovered our plan, and they are waiting for us outside. We need to leave now," he said urgently.Helena's heart sank. She had put everything on the line for this plan, and now it seemed like it was all going to fail. She took a deep breath and asked, "What do we do now, Charlie? Do we abandon the plan?"Charlie shook his head. "No, we can't. We have to keep going. We just need to improvise," he said.Helena felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had trusted Charlie from the start, and she knew that he wouldn't let her down. "Okay, what's the plan?" she asked, trying to sound confident.Charlie hesitated for a moment before replying, "We're going to split up. You and Jack will take the emergency exit at the back of the bank and head to the getaway car. Luke and I will create a distr
The father of a young man named Opkli ordered him to go to bed because it was too late for him to still be awake. Opkli removed his clothes and got into bed, but to his surprise, he found that the floor was covered in water. He didn't pay much attention to it and stepped on the wet floor unknowingly, causing him to slip and fall. Unfortunately, as he fell, he accidentally touched a live electric wire on the floor and it electrocuted him due to the high voltage. Tragically, Opkli's father suffered the same fate, and both of their bodies were discovered the following morning. The police deemed the incident as an accident.Opkli was devastated and cried until he found himself in a dark room with cold water on the floor. He noticed that his friend, Ondula, was sleeping soundly beside him, snoring like a pig. Opkli couldn't help but wonder about the events that led to his suffering. He recalled how Odhoch had mercilessly cut his finger, and he promised himself that he would seek revenge by
Inspector Ondula was ushered into a room by an unknown person and was brutally beaten until he bled. He couldn't identify his attacker, but he could see Mr. President's image in the mirror. Afterward, Mr. President called for Opikli to be brought to his private room immediately, and within seconds, Opikli was also present. Mr. President was agitated and pacing back and forth, rubbing his forehead with his hand, saying, "Ondula, you are the one I trusted most in this country, and now you and your damn friend, Opikli, have ruined everything." Ondula tried to explain that the actions they had taken would eventually be appreciated, but Mr. President dismissed him.As he was leaving the room, Mr. President noticed that Opikli was missing a finger. He inquired about it, but Opikli merely looked at him contemptuously, saying nothing. Mr. President immediately made a phone call to order the judges and lawyers involved in Ondula's case to be taken to the prison, and Odhoch to be impeached for
The scene shifts to the aftermath of the court hearing. Everyone is leaving with the same question on their minds: how could someone forget what happened last month and what brought them to jail? Many citizens stay near the court, waiting for news about the case of Ondula, who is accused of a serious crime and is rumored to be burned alive.Meanwhile, Mr. Opikli is taken to the suffering prison, which is located in the northern part of the country and is the only one of its kind in the entire country. This special prison is notorious for torturing and beating both men and women. Upon arrival, Opikli is unchained and begins celebrating because the prison smells better than the one he came from.Opikli is then taken to take a bath with warm water, something he never thought would happen. After his bath, he is given an expensive suit to wear and taken to a high table where he eats a lot of food. He is surprised at how well he is being treated and wonders why he is being treated like some
