"If that's not a gift, then where did you get that from?" Catherine asks but Derek could still see through her uneasiness.
Seeing her acting this strange could only mean one thing. But he didn't want to admit that it was what he was thinking.
"Like I said before, it was sent to me. And this is yours, Catherine. You've always had it. Can you explain what's going on here?" he confronts her with that and it didn't do much to take off her strange reaction.
At first Catherine sighs. Then her face lights up like she suddenly recalled something. A completely different reaction to what she had on before.
"That's it," she says out loud. "I had that skirt on some days ago at a party and then washed it after. I left it out to dry but couldn't find it when I went to take it off. That's possibly why you have it here with you."
Her explanation wasn't adding up. To Derek, it didn't make much sense. It was more like she was trying to play around with him.
"I don't get you," Derek declares. "Why would your skirt be delivered to me after you left it out to dry?"
"That's what I don't understand too. I honestly left it on the balcony at the place I rented for the trip. It came as a shock to me when I didn't find it anymore."
She collects the skirt from him to examine it, the look of recognition glaring in her eyes.
"I thought the wind had blown it away but no matter how much I looked, I still couldn't find it. But I don't understand why someone would proceed it to you. It's crazy."
"Was that the only thing that went missing?"
Catherine nods. "From what I can tell, yes. I checked and it was just the skirt I didn't seem to find when I was there."
Derek wasn't sure what to believe at this point. Catherine's words were sounding like she was being truthful with him but he just couldn't make much sense out of it.
It was then that he remembered the passport he found in the bedroom.
"Where did the business trip take place?" he asks, hoping to get another reaction from her.
Catherine stares at him as if knowing where he was getting at.
"Why are you asking?"
"I found your passport in the room. I thought you said you were traveling out of the country for the trip?"
"Oh goodness, did I forget to mention about the change of plans?"
Derek narrows his eyes at her. "What change of plans?" he quizzes.
"The business trip was shifted to a nearby city. We didn't need to travel out of the country anymore. I'm sorry for not mentioning it to you."
It was surprising to Derek that she had something to say each time to back herself up. At this point he didn't know what to believe again.
"I know you might have your doubts but trust me when I say that I've been nothing but loyal to you," Catherine starts to say as a way to cheer him up. "I don't know who sent my skirt to you but I'm guessing it's a douchebag trying to set us apart. But we shouldn't let that get to us."
Thinking about what she said just now made Derek realize that she might actually be sincere with him. He knew the struggle he went through to get her. No doubt that someone that wanted her for himself was making efforts into breaking them apart.
Looking into Catherine's eyes, he had to believe that she wouldn't do anything to hurt him. She loves him as much as he loved her and there was no way she was going to cheat on him.
"It's fine," he tells her, this time being much convinced that she was innocent of whatever he thought against her.
"Are you sure?"
The worry in her eyes made him sad. He hated that he had to put her in this kind of situation.
To assure her, he flashes her a smile. "I am, trust me. Let's go to the room."
With that they both head upstairs to their bedroom where Derek had already prepared well for her in anticipation of her return.
The fragrance in the room was topnotch as Derek already invested too much time into making sure the night was perfect.
As they both laid down on the bed, Catherine brings out something from her handbag which she had placed beforehand on the bedside cabinet.
"Look," she shows the item she brought out to Derek, "The phone truly broke that day. I wasn't lying about it."
Derek takes a good look at the phone and he could see that it was damaged beyond repair. Whoever must have bumped into her that day must have been so careless.
"You don't need to show it to me. I believe you," Derek tells her and she smiles before putting the phone back down on the cabinet.
Just as she's about to lay down to sleep, Derek tells her: "Come here."
She obliges and he pulls her soft body into his own for a warm embrace. The feeling of her soft skin on his was enough to send a message to his whole body and it was at that time that he realized how desperate he wanted her at this moment.
He kissed her on the forehead and he could swear that he felt a vibration go through her whole body. That was a complete turn on for him.
He would have taken it to the next level almost immediately but he is suddenly hit with the thought of his wife being in bed with another man.
It obviously didn't happen but the thought made him uncomfortable. Very, very uncomfortable.
He wasn't sure if it was the right thing to be thinking but he knew it was going to be hard to take that thought off his head just like that.
Eventually, Derek found himself unable to resist Catherine even with the thoughts still lingering in his head. His hand slowly lurks all over her body and Catherine, now realizing what he wants, stops him all of a sudden."Can you turn off the lights?"The request she made has him surprised. His brows are up as he tries to understand what could have made her request such a thing from him.It has never happened before in their years of marriage. What could have possibly changed tonight?"Is that what you want?" he has to ask to be sure he heard her right. She affirms by saying, "Yes."Reluctantly, he stands up from the bed to turn off the lights. And with the weird feeling about her request still in him, he goes back to the bed.He starts by kissing her on the lips to which she kisses him back. The kiss lasted for about two minutes while he takes off her pyjamas. He felt he hands on his body as she takes off his clothes too. He couldn't control himself anymore and swiftly thrusts deep i
"We were separated into three teams for this one. One team played the role of armed robbers, another played the role of hostages, and the last were policemen. I got the role of an armed robber but Stacy… You remember Stacy, right?"Derek nods to that. Stacy was one of Catherine's friends who worked in the same company with her. She always mentioned her to him every now and then."Okay, so Stacy who got the role of an hostage wanted to switch roles and I agreed to it. To be honest, I didn't expect her to tie me up so tight that it ended up bruising my body."The details she gave was too good not to be true. It was as if she already prepared her story before now that Derek didn't even know what to say to go against it.He kept looking at her like she was just mincimg around with words and his look at her must have made her uncomfortable."I know you don't believe me but you can always call Stacy to ask her. She'll tell you what happened," Catherine adds that in her defence."That won't
Derek didn't waste trying the line. He was furious right now and wanted to know who in the bloody world was capable enough to send him such a text in the early hours of the day.He tried the line repeatedly but it kept saying the same thing about it being switched off. Seems whoever sent the text must be playing games with him. This was getting serious. Why would someone send a box containing his wife's skirt and then send a text claiming she was cheating on him?Right now he wasn't sure whether to believe it was a truth being revealed to him. He was beginning to think it was someone trying to mess with his marriage. An hour later, he gets a sudden call from his assistant."Hello, sir," his assistant speaks from the other end of the line."Yes?""I don't know who did this but there's a big inscription of the word 'shame' on the wall outside of your office.""What? Come again.""Someone inscribed 'shame' on the wall outside your face. I don't know who did it, sir.""Have you checked th
"A while back at Kingston's Hotel, I saw a man with a great physique. You could tell he was a hotshot with the way he dressed that day. "Well I saw him with a lady that day and trust me, they were in the most intimate position you could possibly think of as they went into a room. "I wouldn't have thought of anything because I saw only their backs but I heard the man call the lady a very familiar name," Marcus explains. "What name did he call her?" Derek asks, a bit bothered about what answer he was going to get. "Kathy. He called her Kathy. And I could have sworn that I recognized the lady's features." Derek was in an instant dilemma. It was as if he had just been shot with the truth that he was trying not to believe. "When did this happen?" he asked in a bid to analyze the information. "It's been a while, man. Like a month ago, I think." "And you're just telling me now?" "I didn't know how to present it to you. I wasn't even sure. "Isn't Kingston's Hotel here in the city?" "
"Remember what I told you, Marcus. This is the only way we can get the staff to let you check the footages," Derek said upon their arrival at the Kingston's Hotel."Yeah, I got it," Marcus says in return as they approach the receptionist counter. The receptionist behind the counter immediately flashes both of them a smile when she sights them walking over."Welcome to Kingston's Hotel. How may I help you?" she asks, maintaining the smile on her face.Marcus looks around first before saying, "I stayed here some days ago. And during my stay, I came with a watch which I seemed to have forgotten after I left. Can you help me look into that?"The receptionist assesses him to clarify his face. "Hold on, sir. Let me have your details first.""It's Marcus. Marcus Thurstan.""Alright."The receptionist proceeds to type into the system she had in front of her and in no time she got the information she needed.Meanwhile, Derek's eyes were lingering about as he tried to understand what could have
It was Nadia, Catherine's close friend and colleague. She was the lady inside the familiar car and to his surprise, it wasn't her husband she was kissing.Derek couldn't believe his eyes. Nadia was cheating on her husband with another man right in the open? This was too strange to believe.Nadia opens her eyes and suddenly noticed Derek standing right outside her car. Instantly she pulled away from the kiss and adjusted herself. With shame written all over her face, she stepped out of the vehicle, walking up to Derek who just stared at her like she was a disgusting creature."I never knew you had a new husband," Derek said with the intention to mock her. "Or should I call that man in there your lover?"Nadia snorts. "It's not like I'm the only one who has a lover," she says, looking away from him.Derek heard that loud and clear and it was too much of information to process because he knew she was getting somewhere with that."What do you mean by that?""Nothing," she says, folding he
"It wasn't a regular party. The party had a lot of businessmen and we had to perform for them due to some business reasons. The managing director even made us dance with this so-called businessmen and I think that was what caused the misunderstanding you heard over the phone."Nadia explained all that to Derek and it took him back to the day he received the skirt in the box.How he had called Catherine and then Nadia was still fresh in his memory and he remembered the particular detail that got him confused."Are you saying that whoever that man was that made that statement about my wife danced with her before dancing with you?" Derek asks to clarify the situation."Yes, that's what I'm saying," Nadia states. "Even after the party, some of those businessmen tried to book private appointments with me but I declined all of their offers because I couldn't do such."Derek looked at her sarcastically. Like, how was he supposed to believe that she really declined the offers of those who wan
"The ropes were indeed tight enough," Nadia admitted. "But I don't think they were enough to cause bruises on one's body. Well I wouldn't know since I wasn't part of the hostages."Derek immediately began to suspect that Catherine must have had those bruises on her body before she participated in the game. She must have used the game as an excuse to cover up for the fact that she already got the bruises. It was all too complicated for him as he thought about it."Did you guys by any chance lodge in this hotel?" he asked."You know, I was going to ask what you were doing here in the first place. I mean, it's a way long distance away from the city," Nadia said."Just answer the question I asked you.""Well, we did lodge here after the dance party at Filandel. Most of us crashed here on the company's account."It was beginning to make more sense to him now. There was a much serious truth about Catherine being in that hotel truly."Then did you happen to know what my wife got herself invo
