Chapter 6

Eventually, Derek found himself unable to resist Catherine even with the thoughts still lingering in his head.

His hand slowly lurks all over her body and Catherine, now realizing what he wants, stops him all of a sudden.

"Can you turn off the lights?"

The request she made has him surprised. His brows are up as he tries to understand what could have made her request such a thing from him.

It has never happened before in their years of marriage. What could have possibly changed tonight?

"Is that what you want?" he has to ask to be sure he heard her right.

She affirms by saying, "Yes."

Reluctantly, he stands up from the bed to turn off the lights. And with the weird feeling about her request still in him, he goes back to the bed.

He starts by kissing her on the lips to which she kisses him back. The kiss lasted for about two minutes while he takes off her pyjamas.

He felt he hands on his body as she takes off his clothes too. He couldn't control himself anymore and swiftly thrusts deep into her, her moans and his grunts taking over the room in no time.

About thirty minutes later, they were done. Catherine went off to sleep immediately but Derek couldn't even find the littlest of drowsiness to fall asleep so he stood up from the bed to turn the lights back on.

He couldn't help but stare at Catherine's perfect face. As much as he loved looking at her, he couldn't get the complicated feeling off him.

Catherine had her pyjamas on again and she was sweating profusely despite the room being cool from the AC. In order to make her comfortable, Derek decides to take the pyjamas off her.

"What in the world is this?"

The sight of her naked body wasn't what got Derek reacting that way. It was what he was seeing on it.

There were bruises all over her, from her arms up to the side of her neck. The bruises almost looked they had been bitten into and he was sure it was not his doing.

The shock that went through Derek's body was a lot because if he was having little doubts about Catherine's loyalty to him before, this was more than enough to increase his doubts.

"She didn't do that. No, she didn't," he says to himself as a way of telling himself that Catherine didn't cheat on him with another man.

All of a sudden Catherine wakes up from her sleep. It was possibly from hearing him speak out loud and she had to ask: "What's going on?"

He was trying so hard not to snap at her. Trying so much not to hate her until she has told him what happened to her body.

"No, you tell me what's going on," he says in return. "What's this on your body?"

Catherine realizes what he's talking about and then sits upright, adjusting her pyjamas just so she could cover herself up well.

"Where did you get all of that from? You can't tell me it's from the stranger that bumped into you because it wasn't a car. So what happened?"

"We played a dangerous game," Catherine announces to him.

His seemingly angry reaction didn't change. "You and who?" he asks.

"My colleagues and I? Don't forget I was on a business trip."

"What kind of game would make you look like you got beaten up or something?"

"A very dangerous one."

She then proceeds to explain: "The game involved our hands being tied behind our backs with another colleague standing while we do a free fall hoping the colleague would catch us. It was a game done to enhance trust among all of us."

Derek was speechless. What kind of game would put the lives of workers at risk like that all because they were trying to enhance trust?

"There was even a more dangerous game that we played," she announces.

He just sat there and watched her talk, hoping she would eventually make more sense than what he was hearing.

To him, she was being on the defensive and he was going to wait for her to keep defending herself.
