Chapter 7_An Eye For An Eye

The lady flinched at the sound of his voice only to see who it was and chuckled in excitement.

“You regard me as a friend but didn't tell me that you are the sister of this loser?”

Sherry raised her head to look at Perseus; she glared at him. “What are you doing?”

His lips stretched into a tight smile. “Just trust me.”

He sounded so sincere that she wanted to believe him.

“How much is the vase that my sister broke?” He inquired.

In the meantime, he contacted the system. ‘System, could you help me check out this lady and her brother?’

[You haven't given me a name; give me a name and I will help you.]

'I will call you Iris then.’

[The name can never be changed; now press yes to proceed.]

He did as the system told him to do, and the information about the siblings appeared on the screen.

[The money has been transferred into your bank account. You can make transfers from there.]

“What would you do if I told you the price? Aren't you that poor trash from school?”

“Just name a price, and I will pay.”

“How ridiculous.” The lady laughed. “You are so poor that you can't afford anything; why are you even at this restaurant? Don't tell me that Sherry is paying for you.”

Perseus shook his head. “I am not like you, and I am going to prove it.” He cleared his throat. “I am paying for everything that everyone took at the restaurant, including the drinks! Whoever has already ordered, I will be responsible for the payments."He yelled as hard as possible, attracting the stares of everyone.

His friends' eyes bulged out of their sockets as they heard that. Sherry's eyes widened in surprise, and that only increased the ladies' snicker.

“Thank you, mister; you are so generous.”

“I'm lucky I came today and will be leaving without paying.”

“What a wealthy young man!”

“What are you doing?” Sherry questioned. “I know that you are trying to stand up for me, but don't disgrace yourself in the process.”

“You poor rat!” The lady pointed a finger at him. “I can't wait for you to get arrested when you can't pay for it.”

Perseus ignored her words. “Why don't you just tell me how much she owes you?”

The older man stepped in front of Perseus, his eyes glittering with excitement. “Can I make an order too? Bills on you?”

Perseus slightly nodded his head. “Of course, but that's after all this is settled.”

The lady stared at her brother. “Have you gone insane? This guy can't even afford peanuts, not to mention paying.”

“Get everyone; the list is expensive while in the restaurant!” He yelled out to everyone's hearing again.

“I can't wait for your downfall.” The lady snickered.

By this time, Sherry was already getting scared for him. “Just run away, pursuits; I can handle myself. You can't pay for all of that; how are you going to escape when everyone is done?”

Perseus glanced at her. “This is it, Sherry, if I help you pay. You will work for me.”

She slightly nodded her head. “Okay.”

“Hahaha!” The lady laughed out loud. “I can't believe you are acting all rich when you are a church rat.”

Perseus stared at the older man since his sister was not ready to spill the amount they owed.

“How much does the vase cost?” He demanded it again.

“Seven million dollars.” The man replied.

A frown appeared on Sherry's face. “You said it was three million yesterday, and now you are saying it is seven.”

“Are you scared you can't afford it?” The lady asked. “I know you hate being cheated.”

“You! I regard you as my friend!”

“Ever heard of betrayal?”

“Give me your bank details.” Perseus requested. “I am going to send the money over.”

The lady who was ready to see Persuades make a fool of himself grinned from ear to ear.

She read out her details to him. “Before you make the payments, I would like to have my phone cast on the screen."

Perseus reached out to the system again. “Done.”

Her phone was glued to the screen that was in the middle of the restaurant. Sherry's heart skipped a bit as she watched it.

“Everyone!” The lady yelled at the top of her breath. “I am here to tell you that this loser has no money on him and is acting so cocky.”

The crowd began to mumble and whisper to themselves.

“I, Laura Smith, am going to prove to everyone that Perseus Damon is a real loser who likes being cocky and lives a fake life. I hope you all watch the screen and see if any money is going to get into my account.”

‘'I already ordered a lot; what if it is true?’ One of the customers grumbled.

‘Who is going to pay for all of this?’ Another demanded.

"Alright, Laura Smith, since you want it that way. Why don't we make a bet? If you get an alert, you will go down on your knees to apologize to Sherry and call me Grandpa.”

“Deal!” She bellowed. “And if you lose, you are going to admit to everyone here that you were wrong and withdraw from school.”

Perseus showed no emotion. “Deal.”

“You don't have to do this; I will take responsibility for myself.” Sherry muttered.

“We made a deal.” Perseus reminded her. “Be quiet and let me pay.”

Laura smirked at Perseus. “Why haven't you made the payment yet?”

He raised his phone. “Done.”

She glanced at the screen and back at him when she didn't see anything. “I still don't see anything. You will have to withdraw from school and never show your face anymore.” Glancing back at the screen, she was about to speak when a notification popped in. “WHAT!” She screamed in astonishment.

The notification entered her phone, indicating that she had been credited the sum of seven million dollars.

Gasp! Her legs weakened as she stared at the screen. “How is this possible? How could you have that amount of money? It must be a fake alert.”
