Chapter 4: New Mission Triggered

When Ashton heard the system's notification, he seemed nervous. Ashton had majored in medicine because he wanted to become a doctor, but reality was not that easy.

Ashton did study medicine on a scholarship, but until recently, he didn't have any medical skills. He was too fixated on textbooks, making it difficult to adapt to the field. Ashton even doubts if he will have to become a real doctor when he graduates.

Ashton had interned at a hospital in the past, but at the same time, he was just a nurse whose job was to do what he was told. Ashton's medical skills were limited, and he didn't know what to do when encountering a problem like this.

"System, what should I do? The old man is going to lose his life. There's nothing I can do to save him," Ashton said helplessly.

[Sir, did you forget? You just got the medical expert skill; why don't you try using it?]

Something seemed to click in Ashton's mind. For a moment, the man forgot that he received a skill reward from the system. Ashton immediately activated the skill without waiting for anything else.

Ashton's expression changed when he heard the statement from the system. The man seemed to be holding back in a corner of the room.

The loading process was performed in front of Ashton.

Slowly, the pain Ashton was suffering from disappeared, and his head seemed to be smoking as a lot of unfamiliar information flashed before his eyes.

"Haha, my fate will completely change. Now I'm very confident that I can cure all diseases with my medical expert skills," Ashton said with a smile.

Ashton confidently walked towards the man whom people surrounded. The poor old man seemed to be lying limp. But one thing that surprised Ashton was that he met one of his lecturers.

"Isn't she Valerie Powell?" said Ashton when he saw the beautiful woman coming from a distance.

"Would you all please step aside? I understand medicine, so I'm going to check this man's condition," Valerie said, looking around her.

The woman caught the clear silhouette of one of the students who hadn't attended her classes since a year ago. But Valerie ignored Ashton and focused on the poor old man.

"Are you a doctor?" asked the waitress happily.

"Right, let me give you first aid," Valerie replied confidently.

When people heard that there was a doctor in the crowd who could provide first aid, they began to feel relieved.

"Doctor, please save this man!" said the waitress frantically.

Valerie nodded and replied, "Relax, I'll do my best!"

Ashton didn't seem happy to hear that because if Valerie could cure the poor old man's condition, then Ashton wouldn't be able to complete the system mission.

The man could only stare at Valerie, who was doing her duty as a doctor. The woman used all the knowledge she knew to heal the old man who was lying limp. But no matter how much Valerie tried, nothing changed.

"Looking at the patient's condition and the limited equipment, regrettably, I could not save him. This man is in respiratory distress and should be taken to the hospital as soon as possible to get adequate medical equipment," Valerie said helplessly.

Ashton, who finally got the chance, immediately stepped forward to show his skills. He said, "Please give me some space to help this man up. If you wait for the emergency unit to arrive, I don't think this old man will be able to survive and will lose his life."

People who heard the sentence then panicked, especially the restaurant manager. If a customer dies while eating at the restaurant, the police will close the restaurant easily.

"Ashton, you're studying medicine but haven't entered a class in the past year. Please, don't speculate all you want."

Valerie gave Ashton a cynical look. The woman, a doctor, could not help the old man. So, how could a student do better than a lecturer and doctor?

Ashton knew that Valerie had never considered him special. In the past, Ashton's abilities were so ordinary that lecturers and doctors like Valerie did not see any special talent in Ashton.

"Miss Powell, I'm not in the mood to argue. The old man's safety is much more important; if the patient loses his life, everyone here will be in trouble," Ashton said something reasonable.

Valerie was stunned; she never knew Ashton was good at reading situations. The right insights and abilities must accompany words. Otherwise, the results will not be reflected in reality.

"Ashton, stop all that nonsense." Valerie reprimanded Ashton for thinking that he was just looking for attention.

"A person's safety cannot be ignored or played with," Valerie added.

Ashton wanted to help the patient and complete the system's mission, but Valerie and others tried to interrupt him, leaving Ashton confused.

"Miss Powell, if this old man dies. Then you will be responsible for not allowing me to save him," Ashton replied indifferently, then turned to leave.

Immediately, everyone fell silent. No one knew whether Ashton could save the old man lying limp. But his words were so full of confidence that they were convincing to some.

Although Ashton couldn't go because he had to complete a system mission, he used this method to make a statement. The man was very confident that his words would make Valerie panic and choose to let her heal the poor old man.

"Wait! If you have the ability, please save him!" Valerie asked Ashton for help. She had no choice but to worry after hearing Ashton's words.

Since a doctor had given permission, everyone else agreed. They didn't want anything to happen to the poor old man and let them get carried away.

Ashton stopped his footsteps, turned around and confidently said, "Alright, please do me a favour and hold my back and his back abdomen."

Several people and waiters did just that. With the ability gained from the system, Ashton immediately recognised the complications that occurred to the poor old man. In Ashton's analysis, the old man's condition was not caused by disease.
