Chapter 5: Demonstrate Capability

The old man looked like someone who had just lost his breath. If not helped immediately, his pale face would become stiff as his warm body became cold.

Ashton immediately performed some healing techniques that he had learnt from the system's medical experts to save the patient who was lying limp.

"Please, press as hard as you can." Ashton gave directions and clenched his hand by releasing the inner energy. He intended to apply strong pressure on the abdomen.

"Huh, Ashton..." Valerie's voice trailed off as her sentence was cut off.

She knew that hitting the stomach would not heal a sick patient. Ashton, who saw Valerie's reaction, made him look around. Other people who were there also panicked because if the technique was wrong, death was no longer inevitable.

Unfortunately, Ashton ignored them all. His hand movements were so fast that no one could notice.

BLECH!

Several adults who were holding the person firmly were pushed back. Meanwhile, the patient who had been pale was now vomiting something from his mouth as his blood flowed clearly.

The man took out the wagyu steak he had previously consumed. Over time, he also regained consciousness and returned to normal.

COUGH!

"Thank you for saving me," the old man said happily.

Ashton almost became the centre of people's rage if he failed, but despite the pressure, he managed to save the patient.

No one expected an expensive steak to block the old man's throat. Even Valerie, who was a doctor, didn't think of this. If they hadn't all trusted Ashton, the man would have run out of oxygen.

"Very well. I just advise that next time, don't eat in a hurry, especially large types of meat; you can divide it first before eating it," Ashton replied with advice.

The old man smiled embarrassedly and nodded when he received Ashton's advice. Everyone returned to their respective activities. The emergency unit also arrived there. Professionals immediately checked on the man's condition.

Ashton, who had completed the system mission, immediately left the place. When he stepped out, the system sound came back.

[RING! Congratulations, you have completed the mission of saving a man's life. You get one million euros, ten system points, 5 Emblem coins]

[New skills unlock. Congrats! Martial arts master ability is now available for use. As a bonus, you also receive a mansion in the Kensington area]

Blub! Blub!

Ashton's mobile phone rang. The man was very happy seeing the money in his registered bank account.

It was only a short time before Ashton was earning money again from the system. He also gained other skills as well as a place to live.

After being examined by the medical team, the old man immediately chased Ashton, who was fortunately still around the building. Of course, the man wanted to express his gratitude in person.

"My saviour, wait a minute!" the old man shouted to get Ashton's attention.

"Yes, do you need anything?" Ashton turned around and asked politely.

"Since you saved my life, I will repay you." The old man was seen opening his wallet and pulling out all the money there.

Ashton, who was not short of money, rejected it outright. "I can't accept your money, sir."

"Huh?" The old man was embarrassed if his intentions were rejected. But he did not mind that and understood clearly.

"Hahaha, looks like I have to learn from the younger ones. It is my business card. Please call the number listed if you need any help from me!" The old man explained confidently as if he was certain Maxim would need his help.

"Sure, old man. See you next time!" Ashton replied. He felt it wouldn't hurt to make new acquaintances for his new relationship.

"Haha, that's something I want to hear. Alright, I'll be going." The two then parted ways just like that.

Ashton, who was also about to leave, was immediately stopped by someone suddenly grabbing his hand. That person was not the old man from earlier but a beautiful woman with a bitter expression.

"Miss Powell, is there anything important?" Ashton asked with a smile.

The man felt that his adrenaline was triggered when he was approached by a woman as beautiful as Valerie. Instead of spending time with the old man before, Ashton was more willing to do that with the woman before him.

Unfortunately, Valerie is notoriously cold and not a very friendly person. Any man who approaches her romantically is bound to be abandoned by her.

Valerie looked unconvinced. After all, she was a lecturer and a doctor with a licence to treat patients independently. But today, she was easily defeated by a student who had not attended her classes.

"Ashton, let's just say that I'm fascinated by your medical analyses. Of course, you listened well to my explanations in class. But that's not enough; you must finish the classes you've left in the past year," Valerie said wisely.

Although the woman was not as good as Ashton when handling the old man before, Valerie was still a lecturer who had to guide a student.

Ashton did not respond. Men no longer needed universities or anything related to studies like mundane people. With the existence of the Reality-Changing System, Ashton could do anything, and his fate could change. He only needs to complete the system's mission and will be rewarded.

After gaining medical expertise, Ashton felt no point in continuing his studies.

"Miss Powell, as you said. I have not attended any classes in the past year. As a department chair, you have the authority to expel me. So why don't you do it?" Ashton retorted in a sarcastic tone.

There was no reason for Ashton to stay on campus, so Ashton didn't care whether he was expelled or not. Ashton was too lazy to attend university, so why didn't he do something else?

"Ashton..." Valerie said and then fell silent. She hadn't expected Ashton to say that.

It's true that with Ashton's current medical capabilities, attending university isn't much different from a grown man entering kindergarten, but one should still finish university.

"Of course, it can't be that easy. You're still on campus. Your student status is still active, which means you must return. I don't want to know you must attend classes in the next few days." Valerie said that firmly and then left Ashton.
