Threats
Erin was short of words as she stared at Mason with a gaping mouth.

How did he get there? She had seen him go the other way and now he was here?

“This is not the time to ask me how I got here.” He smirked, already knowing what I was thinking.

“Do you want to go in or not?” Mason asked.

Erin took a deep breath, she knew what was waiting for her behind the door but somehow, she wanted the chief to say it to her face if he really meant it.

“I will go in. If I need to run out immediately, I will.” Erin made her decision. Mason nodded and watched her go into the office while he took out his phone to text somebody. Their plans would have to be pushed back.

On the other side of the door, Erin closed the door behind her. The chief’s office was shabby and it reeked of smoke. He sat behind his table, with his legs on the table while he made a phone call.
