Danger?

Chapter 5

“That was close,” Nathan muttered, as he stepped forth.

It was a relief for him that Angie couldn't see him.

He flagged down a taxi back to the hotel which he had lodged earlier on.

He arrived at the hotel, in his room, dropping the shopping bag on the bed. Ten designer shirts, and five expensive suits.

He smiled, finding it hard to believe he would be able to afford those.

[Tim, Tim] the message displayed on the screen.

[Congratulations on accomplishing your task.]

[The next stage would be the installation of a multi-talent system.]

“Multi-talent system?" Nathan mumbled, widening his eyes.

[Yes, the multi-talent varies such as medical skills, martial arts, and business ideas.] The system displayed.

“Medical?" Nathan repeated.

[Haven't you dreamt of being a medical doctor ever since your high school?]

“Yes." He nodded.

[Now it's your chance, the system will be installed in the next twenty hours. ]

“Okay," Nathan responded.

[System alert!

New task loading]

[The next task is to invest in a business. Below is the address. No. 42b Acer's Avenue, MacDonald Food and Drinks.]

Nathan winked his eyes to stare widely at the screen. The address on the screen. That was a big restaurant in the whole of country X. How would a man like him invest in such a business and be welcomed with an open arm?

He pondered.

His phone bleeped, he glanced at the screen to see a sum of fifty thousand dollars being credited into his bank account.

He almost screamed but stayed calm.

[ Time phase: next forty-five minutes.]

The system went off.

In the next forty-five minutes, he should be at MacDonald Food and Drinks to discuss with the owner.

He dashed to the bathroom to take his bath, and within a frame of ten minutes, he was done. Nathan was dressed in a swanky suit, he had his hair rolled to his right-hand side.

He was out of the hotel, flagged down a taxi, and arrived at MacDonald's food and drinks restaurant in the next fifteen minutes.

Nathan sauntered in, his gaze scrutinizing the scanty restaurant which was chateauesque and expansive, the architecture.

He paused to admire the architectural beauty and wealth which was lavished on the interior decorations.

Without being told, he encoused himself in one of the empty chairs, his elbows propping on the table.

“The restaurant is closed!" A dolor voice sounded from within.

Nathan turned towards the direction of the voice, his gaze getting honed with a woman who was in her early thirties. A frown settled on her facial features like she was either stressed from overworking, or a champ at the bit.

“Closed?" Nathan repeated.

“Are you visually impaired? Didn't you see the tag being hung at the door?“

Nathan's eyes darted towards the door. He gave a pathetic sigh because he was at fault.

He didn't check the door before entering.

“I'm sorry."Nathan tried to say but was cut off.

“Never mind, just get out." The woman spoke in a harsh tone.

“Even when I'm here for a business deal?" Nathan teased.

The woman's eyes widened, she stood from where she was sitting, her mouth apart.

“What business deal?" The woman asked, grabbing the towel off the door.

" For the past three months, no one or any business associate has ever been here for a business meeting.“

" This restaurant has long been dead.“

" Why?“

" Bankruptcy because of poor internal control and insufficient funds.“

At her speech, there persists a moment of austere silence. Nathan was muted, the woman's gaze was boring into his body all the time.

MacDonald Food and Drinks had been one of the biggest restaurants in country X which was always booked down two months ahead of a business meeting to catch some space.

It's a continental kitchen also where different delicacies of different linguistics were being prepared.

Nathan wondered what must have happened for such a big restaurant to fall bankrupt.

Poor internal control? Insufficient funds? She said.

Nathan cogitated, his eyes flared up in glee.

“What amount do you think would be sufficient to keep this business alive?“ Nathan inquired in a dulcet voice.

“Hmm…” the woman hummed, as she thought.

" Thirty thousand dollars would be more than enough to awaken the business.“ She responded in a sharp tone.

Although she must have replied in a sharp tone, Nathan could still sense the glint of doubt in her voice, and the way she stared at him.

He readjusted himself, flaunting his diamond wristwatch, his eyes glancing at the watch.

“What if I should invest forty thousand dollars?" The woman's brow quivered.

" Forty thousand dollars?“ She gasped.

“Are you among the agents at the microfinance bank?"

“No…" Nathan shrugged his head.

“Your bank account number, I'll have my lawyer bring the documents later for you to sign.“

Nathan typed as the woman pronounced her bank account number.

The woman was stunned when she received the notification on her phone. She gasped, staggering backward.

“You…” she slurred.

" You transferred this kind of money to invest in a business in which you didn't even ask me to bring some collateral, or even check the business debt ratio?“

The woman's name was Mrs. Margaret MacDonald. She and her husband had started the business before the husband eloped with his girlfriend with the business funds since his signature was on the business account.

She had borrowed a lot of money to ensure the business did not die down, but a time came when another restaurant opened down the street, and MacDonald was forgotten.

She had gone to banks, and microfinance banks to borrow more funds but upon checking her debt ratio and equity status, she would be declined loans.

But Nathan just walked in and blessed her by investing a whole sum of forty thousand dollars in an account without checking her financial performance, and statement.

She would call him a business Angel!

She thought.

" Do you trust me this much?“ " I was going to shut down this business today in the next 10 minutes if you have not come.“ The woman broke down in tears.

" Save the tears, more good is yet to come. “Nathan advised with a smile before walking out of the restaurant.

He felt an ounce of regret seeping into his mind. Why should he be gullible to transfer such an amount of money to her without having the documents ready, and even a lawyer?

Now he has to look for a lawyer to prepare the documents in the next five hours.

[Tim… Tim…] the system bleeped.

[Signal warning!
