We were walking on an island, in-between the shelves of Spar, a shopping center. I was still dirstubed from what I had seen on that bus. Father had placed me inside the trolley and he was driving it, he picked up some different items on the shelves and he placed them around me. I had refrained to talk to him since he scolded me on the bus. I thought that he was still upset with what I had said because he was quiet too.
I thought that it was strange and ironic that my brothers felt that I was his favorite child, whereas I felt that it was all out of convenience. If he really loved me more than them, why did I still have to be the only one with a different surname? It was was on my brain and it saddened me. I saw some people approaching us, they distracted me from thinking because they seemed to know us or my father."Mr Janas Sithole, son of God, it has been a long time and we missed you so much in church. How have you been?" One lady asked. It became clear that they knew him, but they did not know me. "Who is this, we haven't seen him around?" The lady pryed."H-hi, Sandra and ma-Willy! Yeah is has been... Well this is the youngest child of mine, Clearance. Ough!" My father coughed awkwardly."Really? I thought your late wife's last born child was Simon Sithole? Did you cheat on your wife again? Men are dooooogs! Is that what killed my friend, you getting another woman pregnant?!" That Sandra lady was blunt as hell, I could not believe her! I got a little self-conscious as well, seating uncomfortably on the trolley."N-no, no, no! It was not like that, Clearance was born after the passing of my late wife." My father responded ineptly. It was like he had never lied before, to save his life. It felt embarrassing witnessing him act that way."Okay, so when are you coming back to church? We missed the kids, even Sunday school misses them..." She added. "You should bring even this one, with his mother and you know church rules? Both of you are supposed to be married or it will be another Ganuku saga. You remember how embarrassing it was for your late wife to report you in church for cheating?""Yeah it was, we will come soo-""In front of the whole entire church, she was preaching about how you were swimming in sin. Change your ways son of God! Cheating is not godliness, child of God, ha-ha!" The lady said, cutting my father off and laughing at her own jokes.Cough!* Cough!*My father coughed loudly and I looked at him to see if he was okay, these ladies seemed to be stressing him out."Are you okay son of God or is the truth purging your sins?" The lady, Sandra asked laughing. It was weird how she talked laughing while being brutally judgemental."No, it's not like that. I woke up with a cold this morning, that's why I came here to buy some essentials. I need to make myself some soup." Father said, clearly lying.I was on the urge to roll my eyes, but I held myself."Why did you not send your new wife? Is she one of those slothful women that refuse to do anything, those slay queens types?" She asked."No, she is also working. Today she went to work. She comes at night." Dad explained, continously lying. I did not know why that I saddened me? When he said that, but it made me feel like crying. I did not know if it was him lying or the fact that he was inconsiderate of me. He did not know how much I felt void at home being constantly neglected and not having a mother. On the other hand I felt that I was his shame, a constant reminder of why he was miserable. He made a lot of mistakes in his life and I was one of them. Everything about that situation saddened me."I should get going." He said. "It was nice to see you again ladies." He finished."Not so fast so of God, we are not letting you go that easily. Put in your number, we need to remind you of church services." Sandra said, whiles handing him a phone."Okay." My father took the phone and he gave Sandra his number. She took the phone with a smug face, seemingly excited. They waved their awkward goodbyes and they went about their way, leaving me timid with the whole situation."Do you want an ice cream?" He asked. I nodded. I did not want him to know how what had happened affected me."Clearance, sometimes you will meet people in life who will try to break you down, but do not let any situation to affect you. In life people make mistakes, but it is our responsibility to learn from those mistakes." He explained."Can I ask you something father?" I asked, not looking at him but facing down the entire time."Ask? Do you want to pee?!" He asked me."No! Do you love me more than my brothers?" I asked him and it caught him off guard, it was like he did not know how he was going to respond to that."Why do you ask such a question, all of you are my sons?" He explained."Well, they were talking the other night about you loving me more than them. They feel that I am the reason why their mother died. Simon tells me all the time. They're even planning to kill me." I explained."Clearance?! You must be hallucinating, do you want me to kill my own children? What kind of a child are you?" He asked. "Samson and Abraham should stop smoking when you are around. What is the meaning of this? Do not speak such lies ever again. You were seeing a couple killing that lady child, on the bus, now it is this? Stop it!" He reprimanded me.I think in that moment I knew that I could never tell him anything, he did not believe anything I said.I was home, when I saw the silhouette of Ganuku reappearing. He was staring away into Rockville. It was like he was watching or witnessing the most interesting event of his life time there. It was a surreal experience witnessing him just standing there and it was during day time. Me and father came home not speaking to each other, even when he bought me ice-cream, he refused to look at me. It got me wondering that if I had told him these few things and he got so offended, how worse was it gonna be if I had told him about Ganuku? When we came back he did not even address Simon's lackluster behavior that morning, he just went to his bedroom and closed his door, informing Abraham to not bring him any food.I went inside the house after a while and I saw my weird siblings again. They looked suspicious, like they had been conspiring against me again. I avoided them and did not say anything. "What did you and father talk about, when you were away in town with him?" Simon, the bold guy aske
After few weeks, the animosity between my siblings and I seemed to have died down, but the tension was still there. We just pretended to ignore it. My father, also, had neglected to talk to me. Ever since our little trip, to town. Besides him being at work, he was arriving late at night, especially when he thought we were all asleep. He didn't know that my spirit was lurking there watching with Ganuku who was teaching me everyone's secrets. The worst feeling was feeling neglected by my own parent. He could not even address the issues at hand, but he had been coming at home drunk all the time. He even ate his dinner in the morning, around 12:00am. My brothers were sure that he was attempting to destroy them, he was planning for their slow death, but the reality was far from that. Since he drowned himself in the bottle. I wished I didn't feel so sad about it, but my heart was breaking. Ganuku saw my reaction and he asked me what my issues were?"You always seem so sad when you look at
We traveled back home, when we got there I saw my body was moved. I was placed in the kitchen on Ganuku's sponge. It was weird. I was on the same sleeping position I was in from when I left my body. I panicked, they probably thought that I was dead or they were playing a prank on me. Were they trying to murder me? All these thoughts came crashing into my head, from that one gesture."Do they know? Do they know, that I had left?" I asked Ganuku."Yes, but we have to act quickly, before they tell your father... Get inside your body, we're doing this thing today." Ganuku stated. I did not know what he was really suggesting, but I complied to his demands. I got inside my body. He grabbed me with the shirt and he made us open the door. It was dark outside and I felt the breeze of the cold night hit my skin, like a deep freezer. I was really scared of leaving with my body in a human form.He made us walk until we reached the gate and then we walked towards the road."We have to act swiftly.
"Wake up, wake up!?!" I was father's voice. I looked up at him, I was back on the kitchen floor on Ganuku's blankets and sponge. I really did not know how I got back home, but from the horrific stare my father was giving me, I knew something was wrong."Who did this to you?" He asked.I did not pay attention, I was thinking about last night, about how I nearly died. So many things had happened yesterday. Me and Ganuku's had traveled to Evalon graveyard, we performed a ritual. Something had happened to me last night because I only remembered collapsing inside his grave, although it was weird, almost like witchcraft. My soul felt like it was traveling again, but it also felt like I was reborn. Ganuku had made me chant about giving him access to my temple, I did not know what that was about, but he was able to enter my vessel. His soul was now mysteriously living in my body, with me and I could feel its presence. It felt like I could feel him and he could take over. His soul felt stran
"Why did you lie on us and where did you find the blood that you had poured on yourself?" Samson asked."I always used to protect you, but the stunt you pulled on us is mean and unacceptable. From now on I will let Simon do whatever he wants to do with you!" Abraham added."Well first of all, both of must be sick in your head if you think there is any help I need from you. Go to aunt Rosina and learn some morals!" I told them not holding back my rage. In that moment I was thinking of the events that had happened when I was still alive, living in my own body."You do not sound like a real innocent Clearance that we know, you sound like crook from hell. That's why that blood was all over you? You are reeked off evil, I can smell it on you." Samson added."Well at least you can just smell it, you performed it. Now you need to learn your morals. Maybe aunt Rosina will teach you a thing or two about them." I said. These were my greatest bullies from the time I was still alive and reliving t
Ganuku P.O.V. :"Okay." Clearance said with understanding. I knew I could count on him when it mattered the most. "Can I enter my body now, just in case father gets back?" He asked looking at me. I nodded, although I did not feel like that was a wisest idea. ~When father came back from his mini vacation of air, I could not help but think that I needed to also get rid of him, if I had to accomplish all of my missions. My brothers were now out. It was then time to make my guilt and shame his potion for putting me through that struggle of being humiliated and the neglected. I had endured so much from him. I had not forgotten about how he let me experience the wrath of his late vengeful wife and I knew that she sometimes visited my other brothers and him, from time to time.I needed to occupy his dream with nightmares, he would think that he was being haunted."What are you planning now?" He asked as he entered the room, that all his sons used to sleep in, including Clearance. I did not
Ganuku P.O.V. :I could not sleep, I was not a sleeper and I could never sleep. I yearned for my justice. Vivian had been left to rot in jail ever since I had died. She was the only person who came for my defense, stabbing that well deserving mother monster, who had happened to be a mother to her five demonic children. The hurt they had put me through? When I was still alive, it could not be subdued with a slap on the wrist, everyone had to pay for their crimes. I despised and hated each and everyone of them. The one memory that still haunted me the most was the moment when Abraham was instructed to test which of my private organs were working? He inappropriately touched me when I was only a child, on my previous body, when I was still a human being. I cried out to father during those days and fought him from touching me inappropriately. Father came rushing in our bedroom to see what was happening. When I told him that Abraham wanted to molest me. He became so rigid and he blamed me
Ganuku P.O.V :He might have thought that he had escaped my wrath, but it was far from over. The was so much I was planning. He had to learn a harsh lessons. Everyone had to pay for their wrong doings, that they had created. He was scared to death after seeing me, but I knew I had to do worse. "Why are you doing this to me Ganuku? I am sorry I did not know what to do in those moments when they hurt you. I wish I could go back and change it, but It was out of my control." He tried to explain again, wiping his eyes. After sometime when I did not respond, he opened his eyes. He did not see me anymore, although I was still there, but invisible. He sighed heavily. He covered himself in blankets, hoping that what he just witnessed was not real. I went back to Clearance's room, my heart filled with rage. I was hurt, my own father had abandoned me because he felt my reality was a nightmare to him. He addressed me in a way that I could never get used to. At least when I was alive, on my pre
Ganuku:I arrived safely on the surface of the river, and then I saw Sosobala on the embarkment of the river. He stood facing south, to the direction I needed to take when I walked back home. I was not scared of him, but I knew I needed to be careful with him. "What are you?" He questioned. "I saw you enter this river few hours ago and you stayed down there for a very long time." He inquired begrudgingly. "I'm the soul of your nephew. Remember Ganuku? That's me." I answered him, honestly. "I am no longer a human anymore, I am a spirit that serves a snake of New Rockville. Do not patronize me with that human title and the body you possess… That's your younger brother's body, what did you do to him?" He urged, facing me. His huge form blocked my pathway. I felt trapped. Whatever I did, he could eventually find me even if I ran, he knew exactly where my family lived. It felt hopeless lying to him. "He is right here." I showed him the ball that I was carrying. "You're introducing hi
Clearance:I woke up in a idiosyncratic place. It looked weird, everything was shadowy and I heard whispers. Ganuku had apologized to me, but I knew that things were getting exacerbated, especially with father. When I heard the tumultuous noise he had with Ganuku, I nearly died from terror! My heart was filled with so much fear. I had never seen father so upset with me, I did not even think I was going to survive his wrath. My brother was not frightened though, he might have been feminine and had a liking of girly things, but fear did not recite in him. I heard voices between him and a strange lady, I was not familiar with her, I had never seen or heard of her anywhere. I was agog. "Why did you bring a living person here?! This is no place for him! You know what the Pharos will do when they find him here, right?! They will use him as their next sacrifice! Why did you risk him coming here?!" She posed questions, agitated. "Do you seriously think I had any choice in this situation?
Ganuku P.O.V. :"You know we are going to start beating you up after we are finished eating here, right? We do not tolerate gay boys here." One boy said."After doing that poisonous thing in front of my face, what makes you think I might spare you?" I asked them and they all looked at me as if I was a crazy person."We will beat you up, even God does not like things like you?!" The other one said clicking his tongue."Which God are you referring to?" I asked."This boy is sick, you should be running before we start hitting you!" The second boy said laughing. It seemed like being bullies seemed like the most common thing that they glorified. Another act that created so much rage inside of me."If you are referring to the god of the colonists, the food you are eating will turn into termites and it will start eating you from within." I stated. It seemed like what I had said had no effects on them and they started approaching."We are referring to the one true God of the Bible." Another s
"I am becoming more of myself." I told him with a smirk. I knew it was his worst nightmare witnessing any of his boys acting suspect. He was high on sexual morals and gender roles. Like if you could not conform to his moral standards? You would have gotten disowned right then and there. (I hid the bottle Clearance was in, in a sock, as he was still distracted with my appearance.) "Since when?" He asked confused. In a movie where he thought that he was a hero, I was most definitely a villain. And if he thought that he was a villain, I was double that villain. I really wanted to piss him off."Since the day you stopped becoming my father. Yesterday we agreed on your boys going to live at aunt Rosina, now you want me go fetch my bullies and bring them back to this house and then go and live on a shed like some dog? Fine, I might as well take an identity of my late brother, Ganuku. I might as well fight for his justice and since I am someone who is made to live in his shoes." I told him.
