"I'm really sorry," Gavin pleaded seeing how infuriated Meghan had become because of his behaviour earlier inside the restaurant. He only acted the way he did because of his love for her and his fear that James would take Meghan away from him.
"What were you thinking?" Meghan sighed.
"I love you so much, Meghan. I don't know if I'll be able to continue living if you ever leave me," Gavin admitted.
Meghan knew how much Gavin really loved her even without him saying it. She too loved him so much and would do whatever it'll take to fight for that love. But with her parents threats and pressure to leave Gavin and marry someone else, she didn't know how if love alone would be enough to save her marriage with Gavin.
"Gavin, I know you love me and I don't doubt that but this isn't about love anymore. Love doesn't pay the bills Gavin, money does. And if you continue this way, I might have to leave you at the end of the day," Meghan expressed truthfully.
Gavin wouldn't deny the fact that Meghan was right. "Love doesn't pay the bills, money does," the words echoed in his ears again.
Taking Meghan's hands, "I promise to fix this. I promise to get back our house, to repay the loan and to take full responsibility for everything. You won't have to pay the bills anymore." Gavin promised.
"What are you planning to do?" Meghan asked, surprised at Gavin's promises.
She didn't want him getting himself involved in dishonest schemes just to prove himself to her.
"Don't worry Meghan, I'll not do anything stupid. I promise you that," Gavin assured her. "Just go home and rest and please forgive me for how I behaved earlier. I'm really sorry," Gavin apologized.
"It's okay, Gavin. I hope you won't accuse me of cheating on you again," Meghan said.
"Never," Gavin replied.
Gavin hailed a cab, his voice barely audible as he confessed, "I don't have any money for the fare."
"It's alright. I'll cover it," Meghan reassured him, though her heart felt heavy with the weight of their situation.
As they stood by the cab, Meghan felt a pang of guilt, wishing she could go back inside to explain to James that she was leaving. But she knew it would only raise questions from Gavin, and she couldn't bear to confront that.
"I love you," Gavin murmured, hoping to reassure Meghan how much he really loved her.
"It's alright, Gavin. The cab's waiting," Meghan replied, her tone indifferent, masking her conflicted emotions as she climbed into the vehicle, the incessant honking of the driver urging them to hurry up and end their conversation.
"I apologize for the delay," Meghan said to the cab driver as she settled into her seat.
"It's no problem, ma'am. Where to?" the driver asked politely.
"Riverview estate," Meghan replied, her voice betraying none of the turmoil swirling within her.
Meghan looked through the window and saw Gavin waving at her prompting her to wave back at him.
As the taxi pulled away, Meghan couldn't help but imagine how beautiful her marriage to Gavin would have been if his financial situation was a bit different.
Immediately, Meghan left, Gavin brought out his phone and punched a secret number.
"Hello, Mr Roman," the voice at the other end greeted. "Why'd you call?" He probed further.
"You don't have to worry yourself. I just called to notify you that I'll be dropping by at your office tomorrow," Gavin replied before dropping the call.
The sun rose earlier than usual on that beautiful Tuesday morning. Unlike every other day, Meghan had planned her day before hand. After she returned from her date with James the previous night, which Gavin had ended up interrupting, she decided to focus on making herself more useful to her parents company. Her issues with Gavin had lingered on for quite too long and it was weighing her down. She had made a mental note of all that she had in mind to do that Tuesday. First, she'd meet with a new client and then visit the saloon to have her hair well made.Sophie had taken the day off and since she wouldn't be going to the office, Meghan decided to borrow her car. The cost of public transport was quite on the high side and with Sophie's car she could save a few dollars for other things she might want to do later."Hey, Sophie, do you have plans this morning?" Meghan inquired."What plans?" Sophie asked, unable to understand what Meghan was talking about."I mean, do you have plans of g
Meghan lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling, the harsh words from her family echoing in her mind. She felt trapped, torn between her loyalty to Gavin and the increasing strain on her relationship with her family. The threat of being fired from the family's business weighed heavily on her, and she wished Gavin could understand the pressure she was under. She picked up her phone, hesitating for a moment whether she should dial Gavin's number or not. She wanted to know how he was doing and where he was staying at the moment. She debunked the idea, opting to call one of her team members at the office. She told the team member to tell the other members of the team to go ahead with the assignments they were supposed to work on together, informing her that she won't be coming around to the office anymore.Sitting alone in her room, Meghan couldn't hide the emotional turmoil churning within her. On one hand, she desperately wanted to earn her parents' pride and approval, just as Sophie had.
Gavin arrived at Morano City Bank, his face masked in an unusual smile. Standing in front of the bank, he couldn't help but recall the memories from his last experience with the manager and the security guards. He knew what he was about to do might go against the promise to his father never to reveal who he truly was no matter what the situation might be. But after the series of humiliation he had been made to go through both from the Stallions and others alike, he felt it was enough.Taking a deep breath, he moved towards the entrance of the bank and was stopped by the security guards again just as he had expected."Sir, you're not allowed to go in," one of the security guards said rudely as he stood in front of Gavin."Excuse me, but I have to go in," Gavin replied."Didn't you hear what he just told you? We've received orders from the manager not to allow you in," the other security guard said, his gaze piercing through Gavin with utter disdain. They just couldn't stand the sight
Thomas Winnick was seated in his office when a knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. He immediately knew it was Gavin and the security guards."Come in," he called, ushering them inside. His face lit up with excitement as he saw Gavin. Ignoring the formality, he embraced Gavin warmly, surprising the security guards."Welcome sir, it's so nice to see you again," Thomas said, his voice filled with genuine warmth."Thank you, Thomas. It's good to see you too," Gavin replied, returning the sentiment.Thomas then turned to the security guards. "What are you still doing here? You may leave now," he said, dismissing them. The guards exchanged a bewildered glance wondering why the president of Morano City Bank would address someone as tattered and unkept as Garvin with the word 'sir'.Without saying a word, they quickly exited the office, leaving Gavin and Thomas to their reunion.Turning to Gavin, "I was really surprised when I saw your call yesterday. Hope everything is fine?" Thomas
Thomas couldn't hide his worries as Gavin was about leaving the office. Even if he had agreed to Gavin's request and had granted him all that he had asked for, he knew it was against the promise which Gavin had made to his father."But sir, Isn't this going to raise questions from your wife?” Thomas inquired, his concern evident in his words.Gavin dismissed his worries, gesturing for him to allow him handle things his own way, "You don't have to worry, Thomas. I've got everything under control.""If you say so sir, I just want you to be careful," Thomas said, his words touching Gavin's heart.Gavin smiled seeing how much Thomas genuinely cared about him, returning his kind gesture with gratitude, "I'll be fine, Thomas. Thank you,"Immediately Gavin left Thomas's office, his phone beeped and it was a credit alert of $100,000 just as Thomas had instructed.A very unusual smile adorned his face, one that was real and heartfelt. It would be the first time in months if not even years that
Standing outside his mansion and swelling with pride at having finally gotten his home back, Gavin hailed a cab to take him to the Stallions. He was ready to face them and make it clear that he was far from wretched."Where are you alighting, sir?" the cab driver asked politely."Riverview Estate," Gavin replied, still basking in the moment. After a few minutes' drive, the cab driver spoke again. "We're here, sir," he said, stepping on the brakes right in front of the estate.Gavin stepped out of the car, a broad smile on his face. He almost forgot that he hadn't paid the cab driver yet."Sir, you haven't paid me," the cab driver reminded him gently."Oh, right. My apologies," Gavin said, quickly reaching into his pocket and handing over the fare. He nodded in thanks before turning to face the imposing entrance of Riverview Estate, ready to confront the Stallions with newfound confidence."Thank you, sir," the cab driver said as he drove off.Inside the estate, Katherine and Sophie we
Upon entering the house, Meghan was greeted by yet another surprise. The empty food shelves were all completely stocked up enough to have them go for months and lacking nothing essential as far as family's food shelf is concerned.Unable to hide her concerns any longer, she asks Gavin how he was able to raise the money to get the mansion back and to have their kitchen stocked with so much foodstuffs. "What exactly did you do, Gavin? Where did you get the money from?" Meghan asked, her tone demanding an explanation.Gavin smiled, seeing the concern etched on her face. "Don't worry, Meghan. Even if I told you, you still wouldn't believe me," he shrugged. He recalled how she had reacted earlier when he had jokingly told her he was the owner of Morano City Bank. She had dismissed the idea as absurd, not even considering it a possibility. That reaction had made him decide to keep the full story to himself, at least for now."Come on, Gavin. I'm your wife and I have the right to know what
Gavin arrived at work still angry because of the heated argument between him and Meghan. He just wished Meghan would try to understand him and all the efforts he was putting in just to make her see for herself just how much he loves her.“Hey Gavin!” A colleague called out to him. “Why weren't you at work yesterday? The boss came looking for you,” the colleague said.Gavin could tell he was in some sort of trouble. Brax Connelly wasn't a man to joke with and the fact that he had stayed away from work without due permission was enough reason to be worried.“Gavin! What happened to you? You didn't come around yesterday and you didn't even deem it fit to notify the boss. He's angry,” Another colleague said, expressing just how much the boss had been angry that Gavin didn't show up for work the previous day.A couple of deliveries were not made and it has really gotten the boss angry.“Oh! It wasn't intentional. I had some important stuffs to attend to. I'll explain to the boss,” Gavin r
