A taxi drove to a stop in front of Black Oil Incorporated's local branch. Oliver stepped down from the taxi and eyed the building.
He paid the cabbie off and approached the establishment, but the security man standing there stretched forth his hand and pushed Oliver back.
"You cannot come inside," the security man said to him with disdain. Oliver arched his brow.
"What do you mean? This company allows access for everyone, do they not?" Oliver questioned.
"This company is a fast-rising advanced tech company that opens its doors to potential customers alone. You are not a potential customer! Take a look at yourself. You're a poor tramp in old, worn-out clothes. You belong in an asylum. Leave, or I will kick you out myself!!" The security man yelled at Oliver.
Oliver frowned. His anger slowly twisted his heart as he dipped his hand into his pocket and took out a ring.
The ring was made of pure gold and had a large "B" engraved on it.
The security man watched as Oliver wore the ring, and looked him straight in the eye.
"I am Oliver Blaze, owner of Blaze Financials, and the person who's becoming your new boss. Step aside, or you will lose your job!" Oliver snapped at the security man.
The security man shuddered as he gazed at Oliver. Was it true? Was this poor-looking guy the owner of the largest financial company in the country? And what did he mean by he would become the new boss?
"I don't believe you. That ring could be a fake!" He said and crossed his arms.
The security man opened his mouth to say something else, but a female voice quickly cut him off.
"Let him through! How dare you keep Mr Blaze outside? Don't you know who he is?" She yelled at the security man before she quickly turned to Oliver.
"I'm very sorry, Mr Blaze. My name is Geena. I'll be your aid today. Please, follow me," Geena said to Oliver and led him in.
The security man watched in shock. What the heck just happened?
"Forgive that act of arrogance, Mr Blaze. He didn't know who you were," Geena said to Oliver.
"How did you recognize me?" He asked her. She took a turn and headed to an office.
"I saw your ring. We were already informed that you'd be visiting us today. I just kept my eyes open," she added.
"You're a very attentive lady. Perhaps you deserve more than this job," he told her and she blushed.
"Well, this is all I've got for now. But things will be better soon. I hope so," she added and stepped into an office where a guy in a suit was busy tapping on the laptop.
As soon as he raised his head and saw Oliver standing there, his face darkened and his eyes lit up in fury.
"What in the heavens is this beggar doing in my office? Geena, who the heck is this and why have you brought him here?" The guy yelled.
Oliver gritted his teeth.
"Sir! He's not a beggar. This is Oliver Blaze," Geena replied to the guy who scoffed.
"Yeah? And I am Bill Gates! Get this thing out of my office, now! And if you ever make this mistake again, I'll fire you!!" The guy said to Geena who quickly cowered.
"No. It is you who is fired!" Oliver suddenly said to the guy who frowned while rising to his feet.
"What did you just say?" The guy asked.
"You are fired! In case you missed it, I purchased Black Oil Incorporated last night for forty billion dollars. Everything this company has now belongs to me. I only came here to finalize the contract. How dare you speak to me in such a manner?" Oliver fumed.
The guy quickly logged on to his laptop and checked the company's mail. To his greatest surprise, there was a mail stating a change of ownership to Oliver Blaze.
The guy gasped as he read the mail. He knew he was done for.
"Mr Blaze, please, I'm sorry. I didn't know who you are-"
"Just because a person is poor doesn't mean you should treat them like trash. You're fired. Geena will take your place, now!" Oliver replied.
The guy shuddered as he picked up his things and quickly left the office. Geena, dumbfounded, headed to the system and brought out the final draft for Oliver to sign.
As soon as Oliver signed it, he smiled at Geena who was too stunned to even say anything.
"Wanna go out with me tonight?" He asked her, and she smiled.
"Yes sir, of course," she replied to him.
"But first, terminate your contract with Dominick Torino," Oliver told her.
"On it, sir," Geena said and quickly terminated the contract.
Just like that, the contract ended.
Later that night, Oliver took Geena to a five-star restaurant. While they were having dinner, a familiar voice suddenly laughed over Oliver."Well, well, look who we have here," Cara said to them while she stood there with Dominick. They had come for dinner too.
"How did you get in here, Oliver? And who is this woman? You didn't even wait for me to dump you before you tried making a move on another rich lady?" Cara scoffed.
"You're such a pathetic man, Oliver!" She added and laughed again. People gazed at them.
Just as Geena was about to respond, Oliver touched her hand lightly. He turned to Cara with a smirk on his face.
"You want a divorce so bad? Fine. I'll grant you your divorce!" He snapped at her.
Cara exchanged glances with Dominick in shock. What was going on? Oliver didn't want to divorce her the previous day. Why did he suddenly change his mind?
"You know what? Great! I'll be done with you!!" Cara said and took out the document that surprisingly, she carried with her.
Oliver signed and gave it to her. At that moment, something told Cara that she'd made a big mistake, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
"Here's tonight's special order, sir. The starfish dinner costs seven hundred thousand dollars," a waiter said to Oliver and placed the meal on the table.
Both Cara and Dominick exchanged glances. That didn't just happen, did it?
"Sir, ma'am, this restaurant is currently filled. There's no table for you both. You would have to leave," the waiter said to Cara and Dominick.
Cara frowned.
"What? How can you send us out when these trash are eating here? And did you give them the night's special? How will he pay for that? He's a poor guy without a job! Even if he does the dishes here for ten years, he can't make that money," Cara replied.
The waiter frowned.
"He paid in full, ma'am. Do not try to slander our top customer. Leave now, or I will call security!" The waiter said to Cara.
What did he mean by Oliver paid in full? There had to be a mistake. As far as Cara was concerned, Oliver had nothing. The lady definitely paid, not Oliver!
Cara rolled her eyes.
"Fine! Whatever!! Your loss!!!" She snapped and walked out angrily. Dominick stared at Oliver before he walked out as well.
Oliver smiled. There was more to come. He wasn't done with them yet!
It's been three days since the divorce. Oliver stepped into his new office wearing an expensive black Italian suit with leather shoes. He had a good haircut and looked as sophisticated as they come.He looked different, like he had undergone a major glow up!When he entered his office, his phone rang. The caller was Jamie, his late father's butler, who had always told Oliver not to bring himself down and disguise himself as a poor guy to search for love."Young master Oliver, I have an update on your father's assassination twenty years ago. Tim, your ex-wife's father, is responsible!"Jamie suddenly blurted out, like the weight of the realization was too much for him to bear. Oliver frowned, his face darkening."What did you just say?" He asked in a menacing tone."Do you remember the Circadian Deal? The business deal that took the finance world by a storm years ago? Your father was the driving force. It would have changed the country's economic state for good. Lives would have been em
Oliver instructed Jamie to wait for him in his mansion with further news regarding his father's assassination while he and Geena took a stroll to a jewelry shop.He realized that he had not gotten Geena a present yet since they started going out and Oliver wanted to correct that. When they stepped inside, Oliver looked around, trying to see what would fit Geena best."Oliver, you really don't have to get me anything. I'm fine. You've already given me a promotion at work. That is enough for me," Geena said meekly, and Oliver smiled."Your kind is rare, Geena. I must reward you for being a good person. Besides, when we get married, you'll have a company of your own!" Oliver said to her, still looking around. Geena was shocked."You want to marry me?" She asked him. Oliver took her hand and kissed it."Geena. Since I set my eyes on you, I knew that you would become my wife. When the time is right, I'll ask you to marry me. But for now, just enjoy what I'll buy for you," he told her and sh
"Dominick, do you think gambling is the best thing to do now? You should be focused on getting your terminated contract back from Oliver Blaze," Cara said to Dominick while they stepped into the casino.Dominick's mind was made up, and his glares were intentional. He glided toward a table and then turned to Cara."You said it yourself, Cara. I'm broke. I have to make some money and fortunately for me, I'm an excellent cheat at gambling. Don't worry, I'll win so much tonight that we'll buy a private jet," he said to her and smiled.Cara rolled her eyes, she had a bad feeling about it. But at that point, Dominick wouldn't change his mind."Look who we have here. It's Oliver Blaze!" Dominick said to Cara as he pointed to Oliver's table. Oliver had decided to take some things off his mind as he played with a few people. Despite being an excellent player, he decided to let his opponents win just for the fun of it."Dominick, what are you thinking?" Cara asked him, her breath getting deepe
"Young master, there's been an accident! Your girlfriend Geena is dead!!" Jamie's words made Oliver freeze. Oliver had decided not to go to the office that day, and Geena took his car instead."What did you say?" Oliver asked Jamie like he didn't quite get it the first time."There was an explosion at the square. Your car exploded. The police are on their way as we speak-" Jamie's words were cut off when Oliver dashed out of the house. He quickly grabbed the first car that he saw, and got in. And then, Oliver zoomed off. His breath was heavy, and his chest sunk into his heart.Geena could not be dead. She couldn't! Oliver approached the square and saw a lot of onlookers glaring at the gory scene, and the police had made a line already. He stepped down from his vehicle and slowly began to approach the scene."Hey, sir, you can't go further. That's a crime scene," a cop tried to push Oliver back but he ignored the cop and went straight in.People watched as Oliver checked what was left
"I have a crime to confess. I've killed someone. You have to lock me up, now!" Dominick blurted out to the policeman at the desk. The cop glared at him while raising a brow."Sir, what are you saying?" The cop asked Dominick."Please, lock me up. He can't find me out there. It will be too bad for me. I rather go to jail than let him find me. Please!" Dominick begged again. He heard the news on TV that the assassin had missed its mark. Instead, Geena, Oliver's girlfriend, was killed. Before Dominick ran to the station, he had tried to reach out to the assassin. But the man wasn't picking up.That could only mean one thing; Oliver had gotten to him."Sir, who did you kill?" The cop asked again, trying to get the facts straight for Dominick could need professional help instead."Did you watch the news? I planted the bomb that killed that young woman earlier. I deserve to go to jail for that, don't I? Lock me up!" Dominick yelled at the cop. The cop quickly placed him in cuffs and called
"... I have your girlfriend…"Those words struck Oliver like steel. He gazed at the email for some time, puzzled by the mafia's guts and audacity. But Geena was alive, and that was a good thing. All that Oliver needed to do was go get her. Another email soon followed and it contained a phone number.Oliver dialed the number and it barely rang before someone picked up the phone."I wasn't sure you'd call me back, Oliver Blaze. I've heard that you are quite stubborn," the Mafia said to Oliver. When Oliver heard the voice, his mind was taken back to so many memories. He immediately recognized the voice for he had heard the Mafia arguing with his father one time."Where's Geena? Where is my girlfriend?" Oliver asked the mafia."She is safe. For now. You know, my men pulled her out of the car just before the explosion. You were not the only one who had eyes on the hooded man…" the mafia said to Oliver and he knew what that meant. There was a spy in the mansion who was working for The Mafi
"I am disappointed in you, Dominick. How could you confess to attempted murder?" Tim, Cara's father, admonished Dominick in the interrogation room. They had bribed the police to come in and speak with Dominick themselves. Cara was there as well, an exasperated look written on her face."Confessing to the crime is better than Oliver Blaze finding me. He killed my assassin, Tim. Do you know what that means? I'm like a cockroach waiting to be snapped!" Dominick replied to the older man."I warned you against picking a fight against Oliver Blaze in the first place. But you didn't listen. Look what that has gotten you," Cara said to Dominick and rolled her eyes. He looked confused. So many things were going through his mind at the same time."Why are you both here? Cara has already broken up with me. Did you just come to gloat now that I have nothing?" Dominick asked Tim and he laughed."Or are you here to help me? Any form of help would be appreciated! You know I'll restore both our compa
"Found you!"Oliver smiled as he pinned the mafia's location. He now had what he needed to save Geena and end the mafia once and for all. Oliver stepped out of the tech room and immediately found Ludacris standing there with a worried look on his face."Boss, have you found the mafia yet?" Ludacris asked him and Oliver nodded while raising his brow."Where is he?" Ludacris asked him again. Oliver crossed his arms and stared at Ludacris."You tell me," Oliver said to him. Ludacris let out a nervous chuckle."I don't understand, boss. What do you mean?" He asked in response."What does the mafia have on you, Ludacris? I know that you are the spy. You'd betray me like that? And Jamie, did you lead Jamie to his death?" Oliver fumed.Ludacris knew that he was done for. There was no way he could deny what was so obvious. He sighed and walked toward a couch to take his seat."He wasn't supposed to be there. Jamie was at the right place at the wrong time. I had no other choice but to turn hi
