"What the hell just happened? What did I just witness?"
Elina asked in shock as she paced around the room. Gerald had driven her home. She was visibly shaken, and she did not know what to do with her anger.Gerald on the other hand, sat calmly on the couch. His expression was mixed. The anger and embarrassment radiating through his body made him weak."Why did you just stand there, Gerald? Why didn't you do anything to stop him?" Elina asked as she dug her hand into her hair. She seemed to be losing it.She had never lost a thing in her life and it pained her so much."What did you expect me to do? Fight a man we couldn't even find?" Gerald frowned while he spoke. He could not believe her."You should have done something! Anything! You are a fucking man, Gerald. The least you could have done is defend me. Did you see the way Jeff spoke to me? He called me a liar, Gerald. And you just stood there."Elina sniffled. She sank down as her tears stained her cheeks with mascara. Gerald sighed while he went to pour himself a drink. He obviously needed it.They could not sue the D&M Cars dealership in court without getting unnecessary attention from the public. Viktor Grey had explicitly warned that they all remain careful. He seemed to have some political aspirations."Why was Oliver there? And what did Jeff mean when he said Oliver paid for the car?" Gerald thought out loud. Elina scoffed."You are unbelievable. You have a real man challenging your authority and all you can worry about is Oliver? That trash? He can be their driver or something. We both know Isaiah Lionheart loves cars. Didn't you see his bodyguard there?"Elina shot back at Gerald who swallowed the contents of the glass in one gulp. But still, he was not convinced. He was certain that he was missing something."But still, Oliver looked suspicious…""Oh, for god's sake Gerald! Give me a break with this Oliver shit. I have real issues to worry about right now. Are you so narrow-minded? Can't you see what's in front of you? We need to find the masked man and get back at him."Elina yelled. She stood up, walked towards Gerald, and grabbed the cup from his hand."What do you think will happen if my father hears of this? It's a stain on his reputation. You may feel like you are not in this but you are."She walked even closer to him until she could feel his breath on her cheeks."Do not forget who made you acting CEO of Lionheart Group. You can lose everything as easily as you gained it. You have to find that masked man, and take care of him."Elina said in a menacing tone. She truly had no regard for anyone. Gerald tightened his fist as he tried to remain calm. She always made him look like a fool. But he had other plans."Sure. I will deal with it." Gerald responded."Deal with what?"A deep voice suddenly said to them. Elina's heart jumped when she heard the voice, and Gerald almost melted. Viktor Grey stood there with a frown on his face. He was dressed in formal suits and had a patch of grey hair on his head. He eyed them with suspicion."Father! I was not expecting you today." Elina quickly smiled and cleaned off the stains off her cheeks.Gerald dropped the glass, forced a smile, and approached the older man."What were you two talking about?" Viktor Grey arched a brow. "Oh, nothing that you should concern yourself with. We are taking care of it. Together." Elina said and took Gerald's hand lovingly.Gerald nearly fainted from the shock. She truly was a master deceiver."I hope you both understand how important it is that you both be on your best behavior. These are very dicey times, and I will not tolerate any attempt to spoil my name." Viktor Grey said in a calm yet threatening manner. The statement was mostly directed to Gerald."Of course, sir. There is no problem. Just a minor setback. Nothing that can't be handled." Gerald stated firmly. Elina smiled when he said the words."Good. Have you heard about Vivian? That billionaire brat is getting on my nerves. She thinks she can ruin my business. I will destroy her like I destroyed her father." Viktor said and walked passed them. He sat on the couch, frowning, while Gerald went to get him wine. Gerald felt so degraded doing it, but he had no other choice."Vivian is nothing we cannot handle, Father. Do not worry yourself over her." Elina said and Viktor nodded."How are the wedding plans coming up?" Viktor asked Elina."Splendid, father. We are wrapping up some things. We should be done soon.""And what about the car you said you were getting today? I did not see it in your garage." Viktor asked.Elina's heart rate increased. She knew she had to play cool, or else she would spill the beans. Gerald shot her a look while giving Viktor Grey his cup."Well, I decided that I did not want it anymore. I got bored. You know how I am." Elina blurted."I will get another." She added.Viktor could sense that something was wrong. What was she hiding?"You said you loved that car. You've been talking about it for weeks." "I no longer like it. It was not what I hoped it would be. I got angry and left." Elina remained adamant. Viktor turned his gaze to Gerald."Is this true?""Yes sir." That was all Gerald could say."Very well then. Let me know if you have new samples. Or you can make an order from overseas. I think that will be better." Viktor Grey stated. Elina forced a dry laugh."I think so too father. Awesome." Gerald checked his watch."I have to go back to the office now. I have a meeting."Gerald said and quickly stood up. He kissed Elina on the forehead before he gave Viktor Grey a gentle bow. He soon walked out of the house, fuming. He was not sure for how long he could bear the trashy treatment that he was getting from the Greys. They made him seem so useless.Gerald got in his car and started the ignition. As soon as he drove out of the compound, Marv who had been waiting inside a car on the other side of the road, picked up his phone to make a call."Boss. Gerald just left the house. What should I do?" He asked."Follow him. I want to know everything he does today. Do not spare a detail." Oliver said from the other side of the phone."Yes, boss." Marv hung up immediately and drove off."Are you Oliver Cage? The man who applied for the position of a janitor here at Lionheart Group?" Stuart, the head of the staff at Lionheart, asked Oliver as he stood before the short man in his office. "Yes sir." Oliver calmly responded. His head was bowed, but he could see the sides of the office. It was modest, well-ventilated with catchy yellow blinds.Stuart thought for a moment while gazing at Oliver. He was having mixed emotions about the poor man standing before him. Oliver was still dressed in disguise, and he looked even poorer than ever."I do not think that you can work here, Oliver. You are far below what we employ here at Lionheart. You do know where you are, don't you?" Stuart asked. Oliver sighed. So, he was going to play that game, wasn't he?"Sir, please. I need this job. I cannot afford to be unemployed. If you would give me a chance, I promise to clean as best as I can." Oliver muttered.Stuart sighed as he ran his hands through some paperwork. He turned to Oliver
"No…no…no! This cannot be happening!" Gerald shuddered as he quickly turned his laptop off. His mind was filled with a lot of wandering thoughts. He tried to focus, but he was too tense to do so."Fuck!'He groaned and punched the table. The table was wooden, so it could not break. But Gerald bruised his knuckles instead."Sir, are you alright?" His secretary ran into the office after hearing the bang. Gerald closed his eyes briefly and breathed. "Cancel the rest of my appointments for the day. I am leaving the office this instant." Gerald told her."But sir, you have a very important meeting with the CEO of prime salts in an hour…""Are you fucking deaf? Cancel the fucking meeting and reschedule! Or I will find someone who can obey me." Gerald barked at his secretary. She froze."Why are you doing this, sir? You said you loved me." The secretary muttered. Tears were forming at the angle of her eyes."Love? You were just a plaything. Get the fuck out of here!" Gerald scoffed afterwar
The Grandeur Art Auction was indeed the event of the month. Millionaires trooped into that art gallery from all over the country, sending each other admirable looks, as well as looks of slander. The event was hosted by Amelia Grandeur, the daughter of Emil Grandeur, one of the art professors in the city. Amelia, like her father, had inherited a love for the arts. She established an orphanage and allowed her kids to paint. But unfortunately, the rich folks did not pay much to buy their work on ordinary days. She was broke and was at the brim of shutting down the orphanage. She had to rely on events such as this to get funds for her orphanage. The art auction then became a meeting ground for millionaires to discuss business in a fun and lively way, neglecting the children in the process."The works are terrible, aren't they? She shouldn't let her bloody orphans paint."Elina said to Gerald as she clutched to him. "Hmm." That was all he responded with. There was a particular painting
Gerald sat perfectly still on the couch as he tried to wrap his head around what had happened. He could not believe that he had been reduced to so little. He was supposed to be the acting CEO of Lionheart Group for gods sake! Why did The Crow, the biggest broadcasting company in the city devide to write about the humiliating incident? Why did they incite the public against him? Gerald still couldn't believe any of these things were happening. He felt like he was losing his mind."You have a call, sir." A servant walked up to him with a phone. Gerald picked up the phone."Yes?" "I heard what happened in the news. Are you alright?" A woman's voice said from the other side of the phone. Gerald was instantly alarmed."Mum? How are you calling me? Where are you?" He asked. "You dumped me in rehab, remember? What, did you think that I would never get the chance to speak with you again? How could you do that to your own mother?" Mrs Blackburn asked."You were a blemish on my career. You kn
"Ducks." Was the very next thing Oliver said to Gerald. "Ducks?" Gerald asked, puzzled."I saw them bring in new ducks for their pond. There were about five of them…". Gerald watched in bewilderment as Oliver spoke. He could not believe his ears. "I just thought you should know since you asked sir…" Oliver concluded."Oh, you stupid little thing. I guess your poverty has affected your sense of reasoning as well. Get out, now!" Gerald barked. Oliver quickly bowed and walked out of the house.Oliver scoffed and smiled as soon as he stepped outside. His plan had worked. But there was something very important that he needed to do, something that had been delayed for too long already."Marv, bring the car around." Oliver said to Marv over the phone. As soon as he walked out of Gerald's house's vicinity, he entered the car and Marv drove off.Marv followed Oliver's instructions and drove towards his old house. Marv parked the car in a corner."Stay here." Oliver said to him. Marv nodded.Ol
"You need to relax, boss, Edgar would never do anything to hurt your sister. Yes, he was a jerk in prison but he has his limits," Marv tried to calm Oliver down but Oliver's heavy stomps could not be calmed, not even in the slightest. He dashed towards his former apartment, much to the surprise of the occupants who had just seen him leave."How dare he? How dare he raise his Filthy hand on my sister? I will break those fingers of his!" Oliver barked. He dashed towards the corridor, shoving people out of the way while they cried. As soon as he gets to Picks' room, Oliver bursts open the door. But Vera was not there. There was no sign of struggle. The room was mildly furnished, and had a television hanging on the wall. Oliver could see Vera's clothings arranged by the side of the wardrobe, but the majority of the wardrobe was occupied by Picks' stuff."How did he get her? I turned my back for a moment. Where could he possibly go?" Oliver wondered out loud. He thought for some time, and c
Edgar gasped as the gun he held in his hand fell. He staggered back, giving Vera the opportunity to run away from him. A bullet had pierced his abdomen, and before he knew it, he crumbled to the ground.Oliver walked closer to him with the gun still in his hand. He avoided eye contact with Vera who stood at the side, shivering. She could not believe what just happened. "You have two choices, Edgar. One, you submit to me and I save your life, and two, I leave you here and you die. Which will it be?" Oliver asked Edgar wearing a poker face. Edgar was terrified of this new version. He tried to speak but he coughed out blood instead."S-save m-m-me…" he managed to mutter. The shadows rushed to the room to check what had happened, and they gave a sigh of relief when they found out that Oliver was safe."He's losing too much blood. Take him to the hospital. I missed the vital organs. He will survive." Oliver said to Marv who nodded. But as he approached Vera, she shuddered and took a step b
The emergence of night was the quickest thing that happened that day. All through the day, Oliver wondered if his grandfather was alright. He had returned to work in the company. He could not be absent from work, especially not with his alibi. But there was something that Oliver noticed since he left the hospital. A man who was standing across the street, gazing at Lionheart group. Oliver studied the man as his curiosity grew. He was quite sure that the man was watching him. It has been hours and still, the man was there, watching closely as he worked. Just then, Oliver's phone rang."Marv. What do you have for me?" Oliver said over the phone."You were right boss. The man appears to be a tail. Should I apprehend him?" Marv asked, but Oliver scoffed."No. Do not let him suspect a thing. I shall get to the bottom of this myself." Oliver said and hung up. He cast a glance at the spot where the man was sitting, pretending to be reading a book. "Oliver! You are lagging at your job!" A co
