Chapter 007- Turmoil and Reunion

Diane was completely shocked when Logan casually mentioned the first name of her mother, the powerful Matriarch and head of the Reed family.

Lost in her thoughts, unable to find the right words to say, Diane struggled to comprehend that the beaten-up young man in front of her was actually her long-lost half-brother, whom she had been tirelessly searching for.

"Logan, is that really you?" Diane whispered, her words barely audible as she cautiously approached him. "Where on earth have you been all this while?" Her hand reached out to touch his face, but Logan abruptly swatted it away, leaving her stunned and bewildered.

"I understood that my mother has caused a lot of pain for you and your mother. Despite that, I already made up my mind to find you, Logan. The family's multibillionaire system isn't thriving without a male leader," Diane said in a neutral tone but Logan responded angrily, waving his finger in clear annoyance at her words.

"I can't believe this! Diane, you didn't even bother to ask about how my mother and I have been surviving since that awful night when your mother, Eliza, made Grandpa Dom throw us out into the rain. It was a bitter, bone-chilling night, and Mum had to struggle to find shelter for the then-little Me. It's been a constant battle for us since then, and all you seem to care about is the family business!" Logan's voice trembled with hurt and frustration as he expressed his feelings.

''No, that's not it. It's not like that, I didn't mean to,'' Diane replied, regretting her choice of words.

It was a moment of stunned silence as everyone struggled to find words, but Zora, in particular, found it hard to fathom that she was married to the heir of her family's long-standing rivals.

Leaving Diane speechless, Logan approached Madame Ruthie who was then regaining consciousness, undeterred by the chaos around him. She was still in the care of the medical personnels, but he knew he had to speak with her.

"I'm sorry, mother-in-law," Logan murmured, his tears flowing freely as he lingered by her side. If only he could find the right words to make her understand that he never intended to harm anyone.

"You don't have to be sorry, Logan. Please don't apologize," Madame Ruthie whispered as she struggled to regain consciousness, reaching out to wipe the tears from his cheeks.

Madame Ruthie continued. "I am very sure it was a mistake, probably a mix-up, but..." However, before she could finish her thought, Ings abruptly interrupted her.

"I can't find any reason to justify him being a part of this family, mother. He's not worthy of our name and he should be asked to leave!" Ings declared, his voice laced with disdain.

"Why should he be proud of a family that is second in wealth and riches to his? You people should be the ones celebrating, having the heir of the most influential family in Heralzia right here in your midst!" Diane exclaimed, hoping to impress Logan but to her surprise, Logan just replied her with a scornful gaze.

"It's getting late, and Logan has managed to completely spoil the celebration," Mr. Bill grumbled in frustration. "Rencroso, you know what needs to be done," he ordered before storming out of the hall, his guards swiftly clearing a path for him into the inner chambers.

Like a sudden bolt of lightning, Rencroso's firm grip on Logan reverberated through the room, causing a stir among the onlookers. In response, Diane's vigilant guards swiftly aimed their weapons at Rencroso, ready to puncture his body with bullets in no time but he didn't even flinch a bit.

"Are you out of your mind, Rencroso? Do you want to get yourself killed?" Zora cried out in fear. "Let him go right now!" She again warned, her voice trembling with fear.

Slowly but cautiously, Rencroso loosened his grip on Logan. "Just so you know, I did that for Ms. Zora," Rencroso growled at Diane's guards, flexing his broad chest and muscles.

"Mr. Rencroso, You don't need to grab me like that. I am perfectly capable of walking out of here by myself," Logan said with a tremor in his voice as he stormed out of the room. The sound of his hurried footsteps reverberated through the hallway as Diane's guards respectfully bowed their heads when he dashed past them.

''Without delay, go after him,'' Diane commanded.

Urged on by Diane's commanding tone, her loyal guards swiftly took off after Logan, their heavy footfalls echoing through the Estate as they pursued him at full speed.

"What's the matter, sweetie?" Zora glared at Diane with absolute contempt. "Your brother's gone. What are you still clinging onto?" She taunted as she sauntered towards Diane, her heels echoing on the polished marble floor.

Diane issued a chilling warning to Zora, ''Don't come any closer. You don't want to see what I'm capable of,'' as Zora persisted in advancing towards her.

Zora's swift movement was like lightning as she drove two of her fingers into Diane's eyes, causing her to scream in agony.

The guests were taken aback by Zora's daring approach, and a mixture of surprised acceptance and quiet disagreement filled the elegant dining hall, creating a charged conflicting atmosphere.

"Can you believe she did that? It's just not right," one of the guests exclaimed with a look of disbelief on their face.

"Zora, that was totally unnecessary. You could spark a family war by pulling a stunt like that," another guest commented, expressing concern.

"Absolutely not! This spoiled brat totally had it coming. What made her think she could just barge into the home of her mom's opponent?" a female guest chimed in.

"At least your filthy runaway brother is gone. Leave this place immediately before he disappears out of sight," another person mocked as everyone burst into uncontrollable fits of laughter.

Diane's eyes brimmed with tears as Zora and the other guests mocked her, but she fought to keep her composure.

"Remember this, Zora," Diane declared with a swift hand on Zora's cheeks as the whole room erupted in awe. "In the Reed family, we don't let words hurt us. We are not bunch of inferiors.''

When Diane slapped Zora, chaos erupted as Bennett guards rushed towards Diane to retaliate. But just as the situation reached a boiling point, two of Diane's guards returned, out of breath and ready to defend her.

One of the guards stepped in front of Diane, poised to protect her from any threat, while the other positioned himself behind her, their backs touching as he wielded his gun in multiple directions.

"Haha, maximum security, right?" Zora taunted. "You better leave this house before my Dad shows up. He wouldn't hesitate to have Rencroso teach you a lesson," Zora cautioned.

''Of course, I will, Daddy's girl," Diane responded, turning to the guard behind her. "Ablaze, have you managed to catch up with Logan?''

"We apologize, Heiress," Ablaze bowed low. "Tempête and I did everything we could to find him, but he had vanished by the time we made it to the main gate," Ablaze explained, with both him and Tempête bowing simultaneously.

"Darn it! I've already bragged to Mom that I'll bring him home," Diane muttered. "And you don't know where we can find him?" She asked, turning to the second guard, Tempete.

"Last week, we made an interesting discovery - it turns out he lives with his mom on the outskirts of Contreal," Tempête revealed.

"We might come across him on the Alaxar road if we chase him by car," Ablaze nodded as he spoke.

"Move those sluggish legs!'' Rencroso barked. ''You and your dummies are taking an eternity to clear out," He snarled.

"Tempête, get the car ready," Diane commanded as she turned to Ablaze. "Watch these Bennett fools while I walk out of here.
