Chapter Two: Calling Agent Washington

Kai was deep in slumber when the piercing sound of his phone ringing broke the silence of his bedroom. Startled, he jolted awake, his heart pounding in his chest. He fumbled for his phone on the bedside table, squinting at the screen through sleepy eyes. The caller ID displayed "Begonia House," which is the official residence of the President of South Marquina.

Instantly, his drowsiness dissipated as his mind snapped into alertness. He knew that a call from Begonia House meant something important. With a surge of adrenaline, he answered the call, his voice steady despite the lingering traces of sleep.

"Hello, this is Washington speaking." he said, using his work codename, his tone professional and focused.

On the other end of the line, a voice spoke urgently, relaying instructions and observations that Kai absorbed with unwavering attention.

"Washington, we have an urgent and emergency meeting at the Begonia House. We need you here as soon as possible."

"Understood. I'm on my way. What the current status?" Kai asked, in a formal tone.

"We are still gathering information, but the Hawk Eye wants to talk to all of us, as soon as possible." the caller from the other line spoke, with a similar formal tone.

"Hawk Eye" is the President's code name.

"I'll be there as soon as possible. Inform the team to be ready for my arrival." Kai finally instructed.

"Will do. Stay alert and stay safe, Kai."

As Kai hung up the phone, his mind shifted into high gear. He quickly dressed in his security uniform, his training guiding his every move. He left a note for Aunt Cecile and Krystal, assuring them that he would return soon. Afterwards, he made his way to Begonia House with a sense of purpose and determination.

Upon arriving at the Begonia House, he joined his fellow security officers, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. The tension in the air was palpable, but Kai remained focused, his training grounding him in the present moment.

"What's the situation? Any updates?" he started asking his subordinates.

"We're still assessing the situation, but we were given orders to wear masks before we go inside Hawk Eyes' office. We also need to undergo temperature check and mouth swabbing." one of the fellow security officer gave him the current situation inside the Begonia House.

"Good. Let's strictly follow all the protocols to avoid any inconveniences." Kai nodded in agreement.

After a few moments, Kai is now standing at a long queue, waiting for his turn to undergo the mandatory temperature check before entering the President's office. The thermal machine loomed in front of him, emitting a soft glow as it scanned each person who stepped into its view. It was a routine procedure, but deep inside, he was secretly nervous of something unknown that is waiting for him, and the uncertainty of their current situation.

As he stepped forward, he held his breath, hoping for a normal temperature reading. The machine beeped, and he heaved a sigh of relief when the display showed a green light, indicating that his temperature is within the normal range. He moved on to the next step, an oral swabbing test to check for any signs of infection.

Kai followed the instructions, allowing the medical personnel to gently swab the inside of his mouth. His anticipation and nervousness grew when he was asked to wait for half an hour for the test results. It felt like an eternity as he anxiously watched the minutes tick by.

Finally, the moment arrived. Kai's heart raced as he approached the medical staff, hoping for a negative result. The word "negative" were uttered, and a wave of relief washed over him. Kai couldn't help but feel a twinge of confusion and puzzlement, wondering why the test had been necessary in the first place. Nevertheless, he pushed those thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand and the agenda of the meeting with the President.

"Thank goodness, my temperature and my oral swab are both normal." Kai stated.

"It's always better to be safe, especially in times like these. We're doing all of this because it's the President's strict order, and just a precautionary measure." one of the medical staff tries to reassure him.

"Just one question, though. Why was the test necessary? Is there something specific that we're being cautious about?" Kai curiously inquired.

"I'm sorry, but I don't have that information. It's a protocol that has been put in place to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved. If you have any concerns, you can address them during the meeting." the medical staff responded.

"I understand. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it." Kai decided to give up with his inquiries.

As Kai made his way to the President's office, his mind was filled with a mix of curiosity and anticipation. He couldn't shake off the confusion about the tests, but he decided to be patient and trust in the process. He knew that the agenda of the meeting with the President held important matters that requires his full attention.

With determination and a sense of purpose, Kai entered the room, ready to fulfill his responsibilities as a member of the Presidential Security Group. Whatever awaited him, he was prepared to face it head-on, seeking answers and clarity along the way...

President William Redford entered the room, his presence commanding attention and respect. The air was charged with anticipation as he greeted each person in the room, acknowledging their presence. The room feel into a hushed silenced as the President took his place at the head of the table, ready to address the pressing matters at hand.

"Thank you all for being here today. I have called this emergency meeting to discuss a matter of utmost importance that is affecting not only our country, but the entire world." President Redford began, his voice carrying authority and compassion.

Kai patiently waited for the next thing the President will say. The President paused for a moment, allowing the gravity of his words to sink in. The room was filled with a mixture of curiosity  and concern. The people inside the room eagerly waited to hear whar the President had to say.
