Success

Elijah sat crossed-legged and began to circulate his mana, soon enough, two clones appeared beside him.

"Master." The two clones bowed just as Elijah opened his eyes.

"Take this," Elijah said, passing over the book containing the body-tempering technique to one of the clones.

Taking the fire spell, he passed it to the other clone who also sat down and began to read through before starting to cultivate.

Elijah sat as he watched with interest as these clones cultivated. Though he was quite skeptical about the success of cultivating the fire spell he still wanted to try.

He wasn't going to give up no matter what the case was.

In a flash, an hour passed, and with a puffing sound, the two clones dispersed.

At the same time, Elijah felt a wave of energy rushed into his body. At that moment, his body was like a container as it hurriedly absorbed the energy. After a while, it stopped.

All of a sudden, Elijah felt as though his blood was boiling as an excruciating pain took over him. Sweat covered him in no time as impurities began to come out of his body.

After what seemed like an hour, the pain stopped and everything went back to normal.

Elijah breathed heavily as he opened his eyes, for a moment, he thought he was going to die as the pain was just too much.

That was the effect of the body tempering technique, at the ninth level, he was going to feel as though his blood was boiling and an excruciating pain would take over him.

After everything, the impurities inside his blood would be flushed out. And then his body would transform. His physical strength would be equal to that of fifty adults.

Also, he would be immune to some spells. In this world, mages were not omnipotent even though they were powerful.

Their disadvantage was that they had a very weak body and would be easily killed if they were slow to cast a spell or they encountered a warrior of the same level and didn't have any extremely powerful spells.

If a level five mage met with a warrior at the fifth tempering body stage, as long as the mage ran out of mana, the warrior would be able to win, and in some cases, the warrior would win even before the mage ran out of mana. Same thing if the warrior was a level higher than the mage, then he would be able to kill the mage even before the mana ran out.

The time taken to cultivate the body was far longer and more tedious than that of the mages. So most mages wouldn't cultivate their body and just focus on their spells, as long as they could perfect it, they would become invincible.

What Elijah wanted to do was to cultivate both his body and also become a very powerful mage. He wasn't willing to be tied down with such a ridiculous weakness.

Calming himself, he tried to remember the incantation his clone had memorized when it was cultivating the fire spell.

There were three ways to cast a spell, one was to chant an incantation, the higher the grade of the spell, the harder the incantation was. Besides, one had to chat the incantation without making a mistake.

Making a slight mistake in most cases would cause the spell not to work. And in severe cases, it would have a backlash on the person. Sometimes, it might lead to the rupturing of the person's meridians and they would be unable to absorb mana again making them unable to cast spells.

In some cases, it would lead to mana deviation. In worst cases, the caster would die on the spot, though this depends on how powerful the spell they wanted to cast was.

The second was visualization and manipulation of mana. This one required the caster to have strong mental strength and control over their mana, or else they would be unable to cast the spell.

Though there were no consequences for this method and was only used by high-level mages and geniuses. Besides, it was faster than chanting. As long as one could visualize the spell and control their mana appropriately, the spell was immediately going to be cast.

The third was the use of scrolls. Spells would be sealed in scrolls, as long as mana was infused into the scroll, it was going to activate. This method didn't need one to have any affinity to a particular element or ability since they just needed to activate it.

Elijah took in a deep breath and started to chant the incantation. He wasn't chanting too fast, neither was he slow, he wanted to maintain a balance to prevent anything from going wrong.

Just as he finished saying the last words of the incantation, a little whirlwind gathered on his outstretched palms and condensed into a ball of fire.

Huh?

Elijah froze seeing this as he couldn't believe his eyes. He wasn't expecting to create the fireball as described in the book, even though it was very small, Elijah was still extremely happy.

Puff!

Because of his unstable emotions, the fireball went off with a puffing sound and dispersed into the air.

Elijah couldn't contain his excitement and once again began to chant the incantation, soon he was done, and just like the previous time.

A fireball formed on his outstretched palms, this time, it was a little bit bigger than the first one.

After a while, he waved his hands dispersing the spell. Immediately, he dispersed the spell, he fell onto the bed weakly.

At that moment, he realized something, the longer one kept a spell active, the faster one's mama reduced. If one didn't have enough mana in their mana core, they wouldn't be able to maintain the spell for a long time.

After a while, Elijah stood up and walked into the bathroom to wash up while whistling happily. Now, it was proven that he could use magic just like the others. He even had a cheat, which was his clone.

He didn't need to cultivate, all he had to do was just to create a clone and have it cultivate on his behalf. What a wonderful world.

It was time to make all those who looked down on him regret their actions. He was going to make them pay.
