THE HINT

As Griffin got into his cab, he didn't know where to head to as hadn't even gotten a call back from Doug so he'd decided to examine Jayne's body.

As he got to the morgue, he examined ber body carefully.

Two marks on her neck, she was obviously strangled. She fought her attacker making him release his grip off her for a moment, then he'd dragged her by her hair explaining her little loss of her.

He scanned her hands

, they looked burnt. He'd done something gruesome like maybe dip her hand into hot oil.

All in all, it was obvious that he/she had wanted her to suffer before dying.

Amanda had big motive to this because Jayne had given away her identity at the bar. Did she kill her to stop her from exposing her further?

If she did then.. Griffin's eyes widened as he voiced his thoughts. "Jayne might know everything regarding Amanda and this case". This was huge!.

His phone rang and he picked it as soon as he saw Doug's name flashing across the screen. "Yes, Doug?"

"I found another last location of your witness. I'll send it to you right away"

"Thank you, man. I really appreciate it "

"No sweat". As soon as the call ended, Griffin got the text message of the John's last location and headed straight for it.

He found himself at church, a Catholic church. He ruffled his head. Why was everything about church? Was Amanda such a saint?

"I'll be damned. I do know that saints don't bloody kill just anyone. That's for sure" Griffin muttered before walking into the church.

On getting inside, he sat at the back seat and was shocked to see George beside him. "You-"

"Shh"

Griffin sat patiently as he waited for the sermon to end. When it came to a close, he spoke up to George.

"What are you doing here?"

"This is my church. And you? What are you doing here?"

"This is the last place our witness was seen. I don't know why he would come here though". He placed his hands in his pocket not sure if he should ask but still the words can out. "And Christina? Is she okay?"

George shook his head. "She's loosing it seriously. I'll check up on her again today though"

Griffin patted his shoulders "You do that".

"Since I'm here and you are here for work, do you need your partner?"

Griffin smiled."Of course I do besides no one knows this place better than you do"

George shook his head. "I knew you would only insist on us being partners again for a catch"

Griffin shrugged. "Well, it's like unlocking two treasure boxes with one key".

"Come, let's go meet the pope". George took Griffin to meet the pope, Saint Isaac.

Upon seeing George, Saint Isaac smiled. "George, hope you were blessed by today's service?"

"As always, pastor"

Isaac turned to face Griffin. "You brought along a friend?"

"He came rather late though"

Saint Isaac chuckled. "It doesn't matter if he came late because the lord accepts all. Even those who walk at snail's pace"

Tired with all the chit-chatting, Griffin decided to hit the nail on the head. "We're looking for someone actually and this happened to be his last location. Do you think you might be of help?"

"Of course. I'll be happy to help any way I can".

Griffin brought out John's picture. "His name is John walker. Have you seen him amongst your congregations before?"

Saint Isaac took the picture from Griffin's hands to get a closer look. "The church is always filled up so the face might not be familiar to me". Isaac squinted his eyes for a clearer view. "Wait a minute, I remember this kid"

George seemed hopeful "You do?"

"Of course. I remember the night he'd come here"

"Did he come on his own?" Griffin asked.

"No. An elderly man came with him. I assume he was his father as he brought the child to the altar weeping profusely".

Griffin smirked. Unbelievable! This killer was good.

"I'd laid my hands on the child and prayed for him and thereafter told the father that all will be well. Is the child alright?"

"He's dead" Griffin said as saint Isaac shrieked in horror. He did the sign of the cross upon his body as he muttered. "Holy Mary"

"You said an elderly man. Did you happen to get a good look at him?" George asked.

"No. I remember the rain pouring heavily that night so he had on a black raincoat all I could capture was his face which was disoriented by his tears"

Griffin sighed as he placed his hands on his waist. Once again, they were back at nothing!.

"Well thank you for your time". Griffin said as he walked away.

"I'll see you on Sunday, pastor". George said bidding his farewell.

"Likewise, George". As Griffin and George took their leave, Saint Isaac felt his head throb.

The man who had brought the child, he'd actually seen his face but how come he couldn't remember it? It was as though he was brainwashed.

"I fear what is happening these days, almighty but please protect your children" he prayed as he watched the retreating backs of George and Griffin.

"So where to now?" George asked Griffin as soon as they got to their car.

"Our killer had already killed John before coming to the church. He pretended to be his father. He must have acted it out so well that no one could tell the difference"

"Since it's a man, does it mean Miss Amanda is off the suspect list?"

"She's number 1 on the suspect list. She fled immediately after we caught her, killed Jayne Mansfield because Jayne knew something about her"

"How do you know that?"

"I did my homework while you were doing charity". Griffin looked around him. "How far is the tunnel we found John from here?"

George scrolled through the G****e maps. "It's just a five minutes walk"

Griffin smiled. "That son of a bitch!". He'd caught him this time!.
