CONFIDING IN GALE

The aftermath of the car accident had left Cade battered, bruised and unconscious. He looked peaceful even with the bruises that were plastered on his body, as he slept in oblivion. Day after day, Raegan sat beside him, hoping and praying that he would wake up again.

As two weeks passed, Cade gradually emerged from the cocoon of unconsciousness, opening his eyes and taking note of a presence beside him — Raegan. Soon enough, he was fully conscious and widely awake. His bruises however, still needed more time to heal. On the day that Cade was to be discharged, the attending physician, a bearer of news both heavy and irrevocable, entered the room where Cade and Raegan were.

"How are you doing, Mr Milton?" The doctor smiled at Cade.

"Getting better," Cade smiled back at him.

"That, I can see. And you, Mrs Milton?"

"My husband is alive so I am well, doc," Raegan nodded at the doctor.
