The next day, the board members assembled in the boardroom again. Their purpose of convening was to deliberate on whether to make Alex the CEO or not. It was a hard decision to make, because they had seen just the previous day that Alex did not learn anything from the training he was supposed to do and was not fit to be the CEO, but they also knew that he had done his own part of the deal and it will be unjust to not give him the position. Also, they knew that Alex and his mother would make trouble again if Alex was not given the position. As it is with meetings, arguments ensued between the members before a final decision was made. Mackenzie Milton got home earlier than usual that day. Usually, when board meetings were held, he came back home late. But not today. Her mother came running to Hailey's room thinking she was in some trouble. Since Hailey became pregnant, she had been extra careful with her, and always doted on her to make sure she delivered the millionaire’s baby successfully. "What's the problem, darling?" Cade finally spoke up. He had gotten the reaction he wanted, to his satisfaction. He had seen the unmistakable surprise in Alex's eyes. Had seen Alex’s mother pass out in front of everyone. Had heard his father call out his name as though he were unsure of Cade's existence. He also had a good time watching the board members wonder aloud and in surprise. He was not the only one that was pleased by the reaction, even Gale could hardly keep a straight face at this time. "Gentlemen." Cade began. "Please can we be calm?" It was almost physically impossible for the men to calm down. As for Cassandra, she obviously could not, because she still had an awestruck look on her face. "I will tell you all about everything now," he said. He looked around, noting that his call had been effective. The men were calm now and listening expectantly. Cade gestured to Gale who understood and went to sit somewhere in the room. Then Cade kept his glasses on the table in the room and began his narration.

“You can’t make demands like that. You’re not even a board member, but you seem to keep forgetting your place just because we let you be part of some meetings out of courtesy.” Gale said to Cassandra.“It’s fine, Gale.” Cade said with a smile and everyone turned to him, even his mother was surprised that he wanted to agree to Cassandra’s term.“She’s right. I’ve been away for a long time. It’s only proper that we let the board members decide if they still trust me enough to lead the company as I have done in the past. A vote is fine with me.”Gale stared at Cade with an incredulous look. But the look that Cade gave to Gale was trying to tell Gale to trust him. “Okay then if both parties consent, we shall have a vote.” Mr Kieran said. Alex wriggled uneasily in his seat. Even though this was his mother’s idea, he was very sure that he had created a wrong impression of himself to the board members already and did not stand a chance at being the chosen candidate to be made CEO.
