THE EXAM

The day for the scholarship examination that Carlson and his friends had registered for was coming close. Carlson, though very intelligent, began to prepare. He had to stop farm work, just so that he could have maximum time to study for the forthcoming examination. Morris focused on chemistry and Carlson studied more of economics and finance related topics, while Robin pored over law related subjects. After they were done for each day, Rosa would have their meals waiting for them, even though they protested by saying they were not children anymore and tried to get her to rest. She even insisted they each take a glass of milk daily.

"It helps the brain," she would say, and the boys, wanting to please her, would gulp it all down.
