The look on the old man's face immediately and the fact that he wasn't doing anything to resist the arrest said so much. The detective, however, was very alert in case he tried to do anything funny.

He couldn't trust anybody no matter their age. He could look old and unsuspecting, but the fact that he had done something that grievous was a sign that he could do anything. Cage observed his grandfather's distress as he walked towards Chloe and held her hand gently.

She was still enraged and it seemed to take everything within her not to lash out at Cage right now and push him away. Holding her in place, he gently let her rest her head on his shoulder, hoping she wouldn't lash out at him. He could feel her anger and didn't want anything that would aggravate her any further.

"Listen to me, shouting won't change anything. I'll do something about this, ok? There is no way we're going to fight the detective." He said to her, even though she didn't look any convinced.

She still looked enra

The man shook his head as soon as he uttered the words and it took some time before it settled. The detective, together with everyone inside the room, gasped in pure shock. Chloe, who was sobbing, stopped immediately and didn't say a damn word. The whole thing was too much for her to believe. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her own grandfather whom she had trusted so much, the one person she never expected to do something like that, had done and had in fact, confessed that he was the one. She prayed that it was all a joke and he wasn't serious, but considering the situation and the dangers involved right now, she knew he wasn't joking. Her worst fears had been realised. It could actually be true. She was shaking with fear after he had said that, she took a step back, feeling her heart break into a million pieces. It was too much for her to accept. Dizzy with emotion, Cage staggered backward as well when he heard the news. In that moment, everything he knew about the fami

"Get the fuck out before I deal with you!" Cage yelled before he attacked Grandpa Richland who was defenceless because of the cuffs around his wrist. But the police officers who were nearby quickly intervened and separated them before he could do more harm. "Please calm down." The detective said to him, before walking between Cage and Grandpa Richland to prevent any further altercation or attack. "I mean... leave him alone. The law will take care of this." The detective corrected himself, knowing that asking him to calm down was the most unrealistic and worst thing he could ask Cage to do right there. Cage didn't say anything, he just stood there, breathing heavily as he stared at the old man whose face was bowed in shame and sadness. Chloe didn't know what to say, her heart was beating so fast in her chest. She was going through a wide range of conflicting emotions and it wasn't helping matters at all. "Cage..." She whispered, sounding so anguished. The rest of her words stuck

Cage nodded, grateful and angry. "Thank you so much for everything detective, I'm happy that you were the only person who listened to me while everyone else doubted what i was saying. I am so grateful. And I also appreciate what you are still doing." He said, before a ghost of a smile flashed across his face. As soon as he hung up the phone, he turned to Chloe who was staring at him. He put down the phone and kissed her. "I'm surprised we aren't even talking about your cousin who was also arrested. She shouldn't have done that." He said, shaking his head. Chloe nodded. "It's still a shock. I had no idea my family was this fucked up." She shrugged, looking so uncomfortable. It is still too much for her to come to terms with. "I couldn't couldn't believe she would do something like that, even though... There has always been trouble between her and Micheal. It feels like she always hated him. They were always quarrelling and fighting whenever there was a get-together." She said, sigh

  • RETURN OF THE TRILLIONAIRE: CAGE   SCOPE

The moment Cage walked into the bedroom sulking, she knew she had to get out of her shell and talk to him. It no longer mattered that she was the one who was pregnant, his emotions were still very fragile now and he had to be treated carefully, or they would end up making him do something they would regret in the long run. Cage walked over to the edge of the bed after chugging down a glass of water and sat. His hands were clenched into fists as he thought of what had just transpired between her father and him. He had the guts to say that to him after what had just happened. What was he even thinking?! Cage wondered, shaking his head before turning to face her. She edged closer to him and put an arm around his shoulder. He was brimming with tension, and it took everything within him not to explode and go about ranting angrily. "Who called and why are you looking so annoyed. What's wrong?" She asked softly, swallowing her own anger. He took a deep breath, not knowing how to tell he

In the evening that day, Cage took her to see the doctor. And they were asked to wait at the ultrasound room while the doctor was informed. The room was filled with a soft, warm light, which was just the perfect ambience for him. They sat side by side on the examination table and he put his fingers around hers and stroked it while they waited. Her eyes were filled with excitement and her cheeks flushed with anticipation. Each time she came to see her baby here, it made her so happy. She was usually filled with this particular warmth that nothing could dampen, not even the recent rotten events that had preceded this moment. Soon the doctor walked into the room with a very bright smile on his face, as if to mirror the happiness of the prospective parents. It was Cage's first time and he was full of anticipation also. "Good morning, are you ready to see your little one?" The doctor chuckled, before he dropped a brown file and walked back to then. They both nodded eagerly, and Cage co

He didn't say a single word till they got back home. And neither did she. She knew she had hit him in the heart with her request and wanted to give him some time to think about it, but she was hoping that he would say something to her before getting out of the car but he didn’t, which worried her so damn much. She wondered if the festive air that they had been returning with was suddenly gone and if he was now angry at her. That was exactly what she didn't want to happen, Cage being angry. He rarely got angry, but when he did it didn't end well. She shook her head, hoping that that wasn't the case. As soon as the car died down, he got up and walked to the other side of the car and opened the door for her before stepping aside so she could walk past. She sat there, looking at him before sighing deeply and contemplating her words before she would say what she had in mind. "You haven't told me anything yet." She said as her brows came together in worry. Her uncertainty was what had her

"I know" she replied, looking so broken as soon as they got inside the house. "I cannot excuse what he has done. But... but he is still my grandfather and I can't bear to see him suffer. You're making a very bad mistake!" She groaned, her voice trembling as she tried to find her words. Cage sighed, putting his hands on his waist. This just seemed to get a lot worse, because it had just escalated quickly. What what she even thinking? He thought, knowing that it was surely going to take a lot of time before getting her to come to terms with what had happened. He could feel his anger rising again, and he was forced to remind her what she needed to hear. "Chloe... how would you feel if the same was done to you? How would you feel if your parents were killed at such a young age. My childhood was destroyed by him, and you think I'm just going to let him be? Nobody deserves to go through what I went through as a kid. Put yourself in my shoes before you talk first. I don't like it when you'r

Her father let out an emphatic sigh when he heard that. He heard his heart miss a beat. From the look of things, it looked very much like they were still going to do a lot of things before getting her grandfather back, and if the worst went to the worst, he was going to have to apply violent means. But he was against the idea before it even sprang up to life. He knew how bad things could turn out later, and didn't even consider the option. The things that were going on right now had taught him a lot even though he wasn't involved in any of it. So he just let the thought slide, but not without gritting his teeth and waiting for a while before speaking into the phone. He knew now that Cage was a jinx, and it would take a whole damn lot before they could break him and make him do what they wanted. "That doesn't sound wonderful

Trevor couldn't believe that this was happening. He'd gotten off the call with hopes that Cage wouldn't do anything, but when he had gotten off the phone with Cage, he couldn't believe it. It was still very hard to assimilate the words he had heard. They were devastating, utterly devastating. The threat and the calmness in his voice, he was still finding it very hard to believe a single word of it. "It's a fucking bluff," he said under his breath as he kept pacing the entire room. There was a lot more to this. "There is no way he's going to be able to freeze my accounts. That's not going to happen without a court order." So far he had been able to stay under the radar because of the palms he had to grease. It had saved him a lot and hearing what was about to happen meant a lot of things. It meant there was no way he could report to the authorities because they would find out what he had been doing and there wouldn't be a way to cover up the skeleton he'd been hiding in his cupboard

There was no mercy here. The silence was heavy where he stood and it was only broken by the occasional rustle of leaves in the breeze. It pulled him from his thoughts as he walked to the direction. A black S

Even with the thought that she was not hurt at the moment, he couldn't risk the dread that had already engulfed him. Nothing made sense to him him anymore. He just wanted to see her safe and he knew he was going to pull off something extra to get this done. He was back home and no longer at his office now, but the Gedan family was still out here, and they had to be stopped. FOOLPROOF

"What happened?" He asked, the concern in his voice was as silent as a summer afternoon. Cage took a deep breath and answered. "Chloe has been kidnapped. And they want me to sign all my properties over to the Gedans Family in exchange for her release. I never saw anything of this sort coming but it looks like they have been planning it all along for a long time. I won't be surprised if I find out that they are connected to the problems we have been facing lately, especially with Marcia. They could be the ones who told her to do what she did and now that their plans won't work, they opted immediately to abduct my wife. Those bastards, once I have my hands on them I'm going to make sure they regret whatever they are doing right now." Cage said, growling and punching the table with his clenched fist. A day ago he was happy that he had been able to curtail the situation but right now, everything had just gotten worse and probably gone back to square one. There was a big silence, after

    A VERY BIG ONE

Cage sprinted back to his car as soon as he began to understand what was going on. He drove back home as fast as he could with his thoughts racing madly. He didn't know what to believe or think about. The fact that she had left an hour ago made him so worried and no matter how he tried to push the dangerous possibilities off and tell himself that she was OK, he couldn't. He knew that something was very wrong when he arrived home and rushed inside, calling out her name with a very panic-filled voice. "Chloe! Chloe!, are you here?" The house was eerily silent and he went to check the cameras after that. He found out that nobody had been there the whole time he was away. He had a very bad feeling in his gut at this point as he wondered what could have happened to her and where she might be at this point. Just for good measure, he checked every room, every corner, but there was no sign of her. The panic set in as he realised she was truly missing. He decided to wait, hoping she would wa

    A CHILL OF DREAD

Cage felt so relieved and carefree as he drove down the familiar route to Chloe's family home. He was very happy because the problem had been solved at least and he just had to find out the main person behind the fake rumours. That wasn't a pain in the ass since whoever it was would be kept at bay as soon as he knew that he was wanted and a lot of people were looking for him. He had made a mental note earlier to call Dave to know if he'd found anything about the voice of the man who had spoken with Marcia over the phone. He was snapped out of his thoughts when someone honked at me from behind. He matched the accelerator and the car began to race down the tarmac. The later afternoon sun had already cast shadows on the earth but he barely noticed. He couldn't wait to get to the house and finally meet her. He was worried about what their conversation was going to sound like. He wondered if it would be awkward or emotional, considering what had happened between them before now. He remin

He knew that something was still out there, searching and waiting for him to slip so they could strike. And he knew that he had to make sure that he didn't. The next day, he decided to call his lawyer again. He had decided that there was no need to rest anymore until he had gotten the whole problem sorted out. He felt uneasy when he picked up the phone and called his lawyer, Mark. The feeling was there with him, and it refused to leave him no matter how much he tried to. "Mark, I need to talk to you." He said, sounding tense even though he was trying everything possible not to sound that way. Yes, they had taken care of Marcia and her lies but that wasn't just working for him. It wasn't enough motivation because what faced them was bigger than Marcia, and even more deadly. He still remembered the attack of the assassins who had been sent to end his life. The thought made his gut

    BREAKING NEWS!!

Two days later, Cage was in his house, particularly sitting at his desk in his study. The last few days had been a whirlwind of confusion and anxiety. The cops were still outside the estate where he was leaving, so he hadn't been able to leave the house since then, until he had been proven to be innocent. It was a very tiresome time for him and he couldn't wait to be done with it. That was the moment that his phone suddenly rang. He thought it was from his assistant or Mark but when he peered into the phone it was a strange number. It was strange because he didn't know who it was and because the caller ID was only composed of very short numbers that nobody in the state used. It almost looked foreign, and he prayed that it was the government house so he could be done with this. But on a second thought, he wondered what it would be if it wasn't really the government house but instead the perpetrator. His heart pounded as he picked up the phone. "Hello, this is Cage. " He said, doing e
