The next day, Mason was brought back to the interrogation room for last interrogations before being set free. The detective didn't waste any time and asked if he had anything else to say. After seeing Chloe's father, Mason and Rochelle returned home with a spring in their step and a glint of triumph in their eyes. It was night already. They were both exhilarated as they walked through the door. Mason couldn't help but laugh as soon as he collapsed on the couch. He was more than happy with what was happening right now. The fact that they had been able to turn Cage against his future father-in-law was the plan when he had phoned the man to make peace between them. After the police car disappeared, and the headlights faded into the darkness, Mason smiled. He could see the way the dejected officer returned to his car. They had no idea that he wasn't far away from them. He had been able to hide the car in thick vegetation, but from a small patch, he could see them. He grinned as soon as they were gone. Nothing felt better than victory. He felt a rush of adrenaline as he revelled in the satisfaction. With a mocking laugh, he stepped out of his car and started to survey his surroundings once again. The next morning, he arrived at the dilapidated bungalow on Oak Street. Stepping out of the car, the first thing he spotted was Mason's car which was parked on the other side of the street.
