3. Invitation to Collaboration

"Hey, you!" called the man in the corner of the cell while leaning his large body against the notoriously cold prison wall.

Daren was silent for a moment. He looked left and right because he wasn't completely sure that it was the man who was calling.

"Hey, you! Fat! Are you deaf?!" He called again. Now with a fat appendage that Daren can understand.

Daren pointed at himself doubtfully. The man nodded quickly, "Come here!" he ordered, then raised one of his tattooed hands. He motioned for Daren to come closer.

Daren swallowed his saliva heavily, like swallowing snake fruit seeds. He looked at the man for a long time. From his appearance, it was clear he looked like a delinquent. Cold-blooded due to many wounds on his arms and face. It could be that he also killed many people indiscriminately. Daren thought so.

The man took a deep breath. He seemed to close his eyes for a moment, before finally speaking. "Quick, come here stupid! Or you won't be able to see tomorrow!"

Hearing the man's threat, Daren, who was originally afraid, now trembled even more. He hurriedly approached the man with cold sweat all over his body.

Daren's lips trembled. He wanted to say something, but not a single word came out of his mouth. His words got stuck at the end of his throat.

The man looked at Daren from head to toe. Examining and guessing what happened to the fat young man in front of him.

"What exactly did you do that brought you to this place? Does a man like you have the guts to kill someone?" the man asked casually while continuing to pay attention to Daren as a whole.

A glimpse of what he saw, Daren, like a good person, calm and without a murderous aura, but why do you have to go to prison? The man thought briefly about Daren's figure.

Daren was still shaking and too afraid to answer the question.

The man changed his sitting position, originally leaning against the wall with his right hand as a support for his head, now he sat cross-legged with a serious expression, his sharp eyes directed straight at Daren.

"I'm asking you, stupid! Are you deaf, so you can't hear my question ah? Or are you mute? Answer!" he shouted while punching the wall on the right side.

This shocked Daren beyond words. "NO!"

The word 'no' just came out of Daren's mouth. I don't know, how could he avoid death just by saying 'no'? Daren looked around, waiting for the man's answer.

Under pressure and fear for his safety, Daren sat cross-legged in front of the man. My mind became confused instantly. Come to think of it, would he not be able to see the sun tomorrow?

Is his life that short?

“Don't kill me…” Daren prostrated himself before the man whose name he didn't even know. "Please don't kill me, Boss. I will do whatever Boss orders. As long as Boss lets me live."

The man responded to Daren's request casually. He even laughed at the attitude of the young man before his eyes.

“It turns out your body is big, but your stomach contents are smaller than an ant. Ha ha ha." He continued to laugh at Daren. As if Daren's words were just a joke.

Daren cursed angrily in his heart. How dare he speak harsh words. He wasn't stupid enough to give up his only life.

The man finally stopped laughing too. Meanwhile, Daren just remained silent in a prostrate position. She was too afraid to lift her head to even look into his brown eyes.

“You want to get out of this place, don't you?” asked the man with a serious and fierce expression.

Daren finally wanted to raise his head too. However, still, not a single word came out of his mouth.

The man grinned. There are many meanings to his smile and Daren, a figure who is unable to read the thoughts and intentions of the person he is talking to.

"Will you do something for me? In return, you will get out of this place. How about it?" offered the man with great confidence.

Daren changed his body position, from prostrating to now sitting cross-legged. His face looked very enthusiastic. "Boss? Of course, I want to get out of this place, but..."

Daren stopped his sentence. At first, he looked excited, but after a few seconds, he immediately turned gloomy. It was as if there was something that made him not want to live anymore.

The man saw the change in Daren's expression. "What's with your expression? Why did you pause that sentence, ah?"

This sentence suddenly made Daren take a deep breath. “If I had realized it from the start, maybe something like this would never have happened.”

His face looked pale. From his eyes radiated a very deep and heart-wrenching sadness. It was as if his life had never had the slightest bit of happiness.

The man laughed out loud, "Hahaha...rich women are like that. Never mind, friend. You just forget about her. A woman who only admires men is not worthy of being loved."

The man looked up. After saying that, he remembered someone very important in his life. However, all that is in the past.

"Good grief!" After closing his eyes for a moment, he took a deep breath, feeling tightness in the recesses of his heart. "Why should I remember? That woman will be happy in the afterlife. Hahaha."

The fierce man babbled and laughed to himself. Meanwhile, Daren didn't dare to interrupt. He was too afraid to make a sound, let alone mock the man who was engrossed in his thoughts.

"Okay. I have an interesting offer for you." The man became serious again. His face looked fiercer than before.

Daren nodded without knowing what the man was going to offer.

"Come closer!" he said while waving his right hand.

Even though he looked doubtful, Daren approached.

The man brought his face closer to Daren's ear. He started whispering something. To the point that it made Daren shudder with amusement.

Don't know what was whispered?

After a few minutes, the man pulled away and leaned back.

Daren blinked several times. Can't believe what he heard. Like a dream. However, it was real and recorded by his brain.

"It's easy isn't it?" the man asked casually.

"Will this plan work?" Daren asked haltingly. The nervousness accompanied by sweat pouring down my face has not stopped until now.

"Don't you believe me?" the man snapped while punching the wall behind him.

With one blow, the wall seemed to crack. Daren swallowed heavily. His head immediately lowered and his body went limp as if all his bones were missing.

Daren couldn't speak. The man laughed loudly. Finding Daren very scared.

"We'll start, tomorrow!" the man said firmly again.

"Good." Daren nodded half hesitantly, not because of enthusiasm, but because of great pressure.

Every time Daren looked into the man's hazel eyes, he felt an evil aura envelop the man. It was as if the angel of death was constantly looming by his side.

'Oh, Lord. Is this the destiny I have to live? Why do you always test me? Never once have I felt happiness. Don't you deserve to be happy?'

Daren sat in the corner of the cell. Grieving for his fate that has never changed. Starting from living in an orphanage, to marrying a woman from a rich family. Even though their status has changed, their caste is still village people. Always receiving insults from his wife's family.
