YOUNG MASTER

As Nicholas went out, he smacked his lips bitterly and shook his head in disappointment. Maya was supposed to be that only woman that was loyal. And now, she could do that to him? To betray him like that?

He was out, not even knowing where to go. His phone rang and he picked it up to see it was his friend, Mal.

"Hey dude, what's up. Wait, did she like the gift??" Mal asked immediately. He knew of Nicholas' plan to surprise his wife.

Nicholas shook his head, "I'm...it didn't work out." He managed to say. "We're divorced now. It's a long story, man, she even kicked me out of the house." Nicholas said feeling ashamed.

"What? How could she? Where will you sleep now? I think that is more important firstly." Mal said.

A half smile worked its way over to Nicholas face. At least he had friends who cared about him.

"Maybe you can head back to work. The place is open all day so you wouldn't mind sleeping there for the night." Mal said.

Nicholas shrugged. "You know how my boss is. I doubt he would let me stay." He said.

"Well we don't know yet for sure. Just take care of yourself, bro. You know if I were in town, I would have helped more." His friend said and Nicholas nodded.

"I'll head over to Tim's." Nicholas said at last.

"Okay then, no problem." He said, then they said their goodbye.

As he was about to call his other friend, Tim, his phone rang and he was already calling.

"Hey Tim, I was just calling because--"

"How is everything going on with you? Oh no you just feel so ashamed right now. Sorry about that. When we heard that, we didn't believe it." Tim said, referring to his roommate who Nicholas was aware of.

His face flushed with embarrassment. "Thank you, Tim. But how did you find out?" He asked.

"Your wife, I mean, ex wife now...she posted it online. It was kind of embarrassing to me, friend."

"Well she kicked me out and now, I am on my way to your house." Nicholas said.

"What? Why would you come to my place? Nicholas, the only reason we're all friends with you is because of your wife. Now you're just a delivery man with no money and wife. I'm sorry but you're no longer welcome to our league."

Nicholas couldn't believe those words from his own friend! "What? But I thought we're friends, how can you say that?" He demanded.

"Listen, I'm not rich enough to take care of you like you're a baby. Sorry, but don't call me again until you have money. I hope you can understand."

Of course he couldn't understand! Before he could say anything again, his friend hung up.

Nicholas looked too shocked to even say anything. He couldn't sleep at his workplace now.

His boss was a scary man with even a scarier temper. And everyone always looked down on him, even his colleagues at work. Where could he go now?

He was wandering like a helpless man now. As if his day couldn't get any worse, he happened to be standing in front of a lady with frizzy red hair.

She frowned at him and hurried forward. "Nicholas, this wasn't our agreement!" The lady yelled.

"Cynthia, I'm sorry. Please I will give you your money I promise." He quickly said to the lady. Cynthia was his colleague and he borrowed money from her a week ago.

The lady's frown deepened, "what nonsense is that? You said you would return in two days. Now it's been one week! I won't stand for this." She warned.

"If you don't pay me my money, I'm going to report to everyone that you're a fraud, I'm going to tell our boss--"

Nicholas's eyes widened at that. "No, please don't tell your boss about this. You know of his temper." He pleaded. "He could even fire me. Just don't say anything. You'll have your money,"

"Fine. You have until tomorrow. Good night!" And with that, she walked away angrily.

Nicholas heaved in a heavy sigh and frowned at how bad his day was going! What could he do? What was there to do even?

Just as he was lost in thoughts, he had not noticed some vehicles that had been parked outside, monitoring him.

"Sir, that is definitely him. We should get him, don't you think?" A man said to his boss, both of them in the car, observing the slender tall man with dark hair.

"Calm down. We'll be sure in a minute. Let us send his picture to him to confirm." He said, and his partner confirmed with a nod.

A while later, there was a reply. "Okay, that's him. Let's get him, and quickly." He said and immediately, they both jumped down from the dark vehicle with a bag in their hand.

It happened so fast. Before Nicholas knew it, a black bag was placed over his head, blocking out the light. He struggled but these men were stronger. "Who are you people! Let me go!"

They said nothing and just dragged him into the car.

"Hey, who are you? Stop this! Who are you?" Nicholas continued to scream but they said nothing again.

Lastly, he was calm and said nothing. But he couldn't help but think about everything suddenly happening at once. Who would bail him if these people were kidnappers??

What could he do if they began to demand for money too! No, he needed to remain calm and face the situation ahead.

They drove on until they arrived at a place and stopped. He was being forced outside of the car and the mask was off his face. He could see light again, only, it was in the night and yet everywhere was still so bright like that.

He was in a mansion with brilliant lightning and a lively setting. There was a giant oak tree in the centre and looking straight ahead, he could see the entrance to the building. But as he stared further, a man was walking towards him angrily.

He was short and slender but with fierce and mean looking eyes. Finally, he arrived in front of Nicholas but he stared behind him at the two hefty men that had taken him. And this man yelled, "what are you doing handling our young master like that!"

Nicholas didn't hear him well. Young master? Him?

They must have gotten the wrong man. Certainly, there must have been a mistake somewhere!
