Cillian sat at his desk in his study. He had been feeling uneasy for a while so he hadn’t left the house. He poured through an article while he had a glass of rare scotch before dinner. He didn’t drink a lot but on occasions he would have a glass. This was one of those occasions, when he was alone. No one to disturb him, no job to attend to, just some time to himself.Cillian dropped the papers. Something was wrong and he could feel it. He was restless for some reason. He stared at the door then he went back to his paper. Just then a figure came in through the door. One look and Cillian finally knew why he was uneasy all day.“Brother! I hope you missed me.” Micah said with a smile.Cillian grunted as he saw his younger brother, and took a big swig from his glass finishing the contents. He looked at the scotch bottle in the cabinet. He didn’t waste any time in going over and pouring himself another hearty glass.Micah tutted. “You only drink when you’re by yourself, at peace or frus
Alarick finished his dinner and was about to head to bed when he decided to check up on his father because he seemed really upset after leaving the dining room earlier. He walked to his bedroom door and knocked. No one answered. He knocked again and still there was no reply. Alarick chose to open the door and peep inside. He did and saw Cillian laying on the floor clutching a picture of his late mother, tears coating his eyes and cheeks. Cillian had fallen asleep crying over the fact that he couldn’t do anything to save her. Seeing Micah had made him remember his past and it hurt too much. He blamed himself and could do nothing now but to drown his sorrows in alcohol. A bottle of vodka laid beside him discarded on the floor half drunk, another empty bottle beside it. Alarick sighed and stepped into the room. He crouched down to his sleeping father’s body and could smell the alcohol from his opened mouth. He lifted Cillian off the ground and rested him on his bed. Alarick picked up
Cillian, Alarick and a business associate James Burgess, were on their way to attend a business meeting that day. James wasn’t supposed to accompany them but they agreed to let him come at the last minute. Since they hadn’t been expecting anyone else to join them, they hadn’t brought a limo so he had to sit in front with the driver. The ride so far was uneventful as they were occupied with browsing through documents relating to a new investment rather than taking a look around. Even the driver was absent minded as he stared at a beautiful woman from across the street. If they had paid more attention, maybe then they would have noticed the large truck heading straight for them. The impact on Cillian’s side shook the car and caused it to skid across the ground, rubber burning on hot asphalt. Alarick hit his head on the side window which rendered him unconscious immediately. James Burges didn’t have it so good though. Due to the fact that James sat at the front seat without his seatbelt
Days went by and still the police were not able to apprehend the man that Cillian had pointed out to them. They had followed all the leads they had but had still come up empty. So now they had nothing to go on except a picture of a man who could not be found.Alarick was at his office seething after he got a call from the station. He threw his phone onto his desk. He was getting fed up with not having the man who almost killed his father behind bars. He came in to work early to get his mind off the fact that they hadn’t caught the man yet but this call just made everything worse. Why was the man so hard to find? Was he really a ghost or were the police just that incompetent? Just then his phone buzzed. It was a message from an unknown number.DAYSIDE PORT 2:00pm TODAYALEJANDRO SANCHEZ WILL BE THERE GO WITH THE POLICEAlarick looked at the phone. He didn’t know who sent him the message. If it was the police, they would have called him instead. He texted the number back. WHO IS THIS
Alarick got to the station some minutes after they brought Alejandro in. They took the culprit to the interrogation room and he went in to watch. Alarick and the officer in charge of his case, Maurice sat down opposite Alejandro who was chained to the table. “Where is your accomplice?” Alejandro was cautious. He knew that the man sitting across from him had threatened his family but he was more wary of the person he was trying to protect. The person who stood him up. “Which accomplice. I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “We know you’re a member of the Sinaloa cartel by that tattoo you’ve got.” Maurice asked. Alejandro twitched. “I want a lawyer.” Alarick slammed his fists on the table and that startled Alejandro. “We have evidence of you at the crime scene leaving after you t boned our car.” “You know I’m in the Sinaloa Cartel and you still want me to snitch. Plus, you have evidence so why ask me questions?” Alarick shouted but he was cut off. “Your family…” “If I sn
After Alarick had told his father all that was going on he went straight home to rest. It was late and he didn’t want to go back to the office. Work and this whole case were getting to him. He couldn’t let the company go into ruin because he was focused on getting his uncle and he couldn’t let Micah go free because he was working all the time. He promised himself one calm night. He needed to destress then go right back to them.Alarick instructed the staff to make him dinner immediately he got home before he went into his room and undressed. He had a hot shower and went down to have dinner. After his dinner he went to his room and laid down flat on his huge King sized bed.Alarick tried to fall asleep but sleep’s blissful embrace refused to come. He grunted as he stood up from his bed. If he couldn’t sleep, he would throw himself into work. It was the only thing he could do for now. He had no leads on Micah but he would get some tomorrow.Alarick sat down at his office and started to
After the early interrogation of Alejandro, Alarick had gone to the company. He didn't go straight to the warehouse due to what Alejandro had said about the place. Instead, he decided to use a different approach.Alarick walked to his office but not before seeing his secretary. Vivian sat down at her desk in a black knee length plaid gown. She looked good as her long hair poured down on her shoulders. Alarick walked up to her and tapped on her desk."Good morning Mr Alarick."Vivian stood up immediately she saw him approach her. Alarick gave her a smile."Good morning to you too, Vivian. I have something for you to do. I need you to get in touch with the owner of the warehouse with storage units on Monte Lane in East Harlem. I’ll give you more details so you know the particular one I’m talking about."While he spoke Vivian grabbed her MacBook and typed down what he wanted her to do. "I know East Harlem is no place for a lady such as you but I need you to do this because I trust you c
Alarick, Maurice and some other officers converged at the warehouse he just bought. Maurice watched Alarick as he stepped down from the cab car with some papers in his hands. He couldn't come with his expensive one and a bunch of gaurds to East Harlem. That would cause a lot of trouble since they were planning on keeping a low profile. They all had to dress like civilians but Alarick insisted on wearing his suit."Why are we here?" Maurice questioned.Alarick handed the papers to Maurice who took a look at them. It was the permits for the warehouse."I bought it like I said I would." Maurice gave him a questioning look. It wasn't unheard of that he would buy it but he was surprised that it happened so soon. The man had some serious connections. "How did you even get this place on such short notice?" Alarick shrugged and smirked."I'm Alarick King. I can make anything happen if I want it to."Maurice rolled his eyes. They turned to the door and saw that it was padlocked. Maurice sho
The judge walked back into the courtroom and the room immediately turned quiet. She took her seat silently and looked at the jury. It wasn't a guess what the jury would pick. The massive amount of compelling evidence that was shown was more than enough to convince everyone in the room of who was innocent and who was guilty. She turned back to the crowd while hitting her gavel. "Court is now in session. I have to ask both sides. Does either the prosecution or the defense have anything else to say in this case?"Both sides of the court shook their heads, no one wanting to come forward and say another word. The judge turned to the jury."Has the jury come to a decision?"A man from the jury stood up."Yes we have, your honor.""Could you read it out for the court to hear?"The man opened the envelope in his hands and brought out the paper. He looked at it and read."In the case of Alarick King versus Grace King, the jury found the defendant, Grace King, guilty of defamation."The crowd i
It had been a day since the fire incident at the King mansion. Luckily they had all made it out alive and unscathed apart from the man on Alarick's security detail that was shot, Henry. They had disposed of the dead bodies of the attackers and had rounded up the culprits who were caught. It took them some time to get rid of or repair the damage that was done that night but they pushed on especially when they knew they finally had their smoking gun. The thing that would end Grace. The day of the long awaited court hearing had arrived. Alarick sat beside Charlotte and they both sat some distance away from Grace and her new lawyer. Grace eyed them both still angry at the fact that they had survived the fire. The tables were turned. Now they were the prosecution and Grace was the defense. She was going to be the one to fend off their attacks and just like the night she sent men to get rid of Alarick, she would lose. The tension in the air was palpable and with the agreement of both parti
The group stayed glued to the floor for some seconds when some of Alarick's security detail barged into the room armed to the teeth and lifted them up from the ground. Alarick, who had landed on Charlotte to shield her from whatever was going on, got up and looked away, avoiding the gaze that Charlotte gave him when she stood upright. Scarlett noticed the exchange and bit her lip till she drew blood. She said nothing though, not wanting to incite a fight when they still weren't sure of what was happening. The guards immediately turned around and pointed their weapons at the door as if expecting for assailants to come running in guns blazing. One of the security men shouted over the deafening noise of gunshots coming from outside."Mr Alarick, are you okay?"Alarick gave the guy a nod before the man who was seemingly the head of the security team turned over and asked the same questions to the women in the group."What about you ladies? Is anyone hurt by any chance?"Charlotte, Scarlet
Five days had gone by and there hadn't been a peep from either Grace or the company on the business scene. It had been unusually quiet and Alarick didn't like it. He paced in his study as the sun set with Charlotte watching him while she arranged the papers on the desk. They had finished creating and compiling evidence in their argument for the court hearing that was going to take place in the next two days. All they had to do now was wait. Alarick ran his hands through his hair frustrated. Charlotte knew the feeling all too well. It's not like anything bad had happened but they wanted it to. They needed it for their plan to fully be realized. A few days ago Alarick and Charlotte had come upon a video of Grace commanding someone on the phone to burn Alarick's house down so that he and Charlotte would die in the fire and not be able to make the court date allowing her to legally take the company as her own. Alarick had already put in contingency plans for her attack but him dying and
It had taken two grueling days for Charlotte to draw up a defamation lawsuit to give to the court and incidentally the court date was set to take place in a week. On the same day as Alarick's real birthday, the day he was actually born before he was stolen from the King family, not the day he thought was his birthday, given by whoever had found him. But even though that was the case Alarick wasn't enthusiastic about it.Alarick and Charlotte sat in the study and like most times went through some documents that could further increase their chances of winning the case. They had gotten over their little misunderstanding that day in front of the courthouse and planned to just win it all and then move on. As they worked in silence, Alarick's phone rang. He looked for his phone as it continued to ring out amidst the vast amount of documents that covered the desk at the time. In another second or two he found it and checked the caller ID. It was one of the members of the board. Jameson Clay
Alarick and Charlotte walked out of the courtroom together. The reporters rushed towards them as the duo stepped out, and they were also swamped by the crowd that gathered outside the building. Alarick's guards did their best to keep the crowd away from the both of them and they succeeded in that, but they weren't successful in quickly taking them through the crowd and to their car because the bystanders were just too much. The light flashing from the several cameras partially blinded them as they tried to leave the premises through the steps but when they found it impossible to, they decided to stay back and answer the questions of the masses so they would be allowed to pass through. Alarick spoke to his men and told them that he wanted to stay a bit and speak to the crowd and the guards relented, opting to just shield him rather than try to break through the impenetrable wall of the people who wanted answers. Just as the group had stopped their descent, the questions came flying."M
Everyone that was in the courtroom before the break was called back in as the court was about to be in session. They all took their seats anxious for what was to come next. Some bit their nails and some sucked in a breath, nervous. This was the time that the verdict would be given. Would the prosecution win or the defense win? What would happen if the verdict didn't go the defense's way? What would happen to the company that so many people respected in the business world, not to talk of the King family if the allegations were indeed true and they were involved in shady business? All these were questions that the crowd in the court had. Everyone including the prosecution and the defense. Alarick and Charlotte took their seat as they shared glares with Grace and her lawyer. The tension in the air was palpable. A knife could cut it in half. They were all on their toes. The jury had to decide on this case and all they could do was hope that the verdict went their way.The door opened up
“I won’t waste any more time by going through the process of how the evidence was found. Instead, I’ll show everyone the proof and allow them to make a decision for themselves. This is exhibit A.” The lawyer for the prosecution took a file from off his desk and showed it to the whole room. He brought out a copy and gave one to the judge and then another to the jury to peruse. He crossed his fingers and gave it some time before he continued. “In the file that you were given you will find the dealings between the King Corporation and a well-known notorious cartel headed by Lorelie Mandan. This was for the shipment of a large number of guns and possibly explosives to an undisclosed location somewhere in the Mexican desert. The drop off was made by the company and the cartel picked it up. If you still have doubts then I would like to call a witness to the stand.” The lawyer turned to the judge and he gave his go ahead for the witness to be called out to the stand. “I call Matteo Sanch
Just as Alarick had predicted there was a huge trial that was going to be held due to what Grace had released to the press. It had only been a day after her false announcement when he had gotten a letter saying that he had to be in court for a hearing concerning his company’s activities. Surprisingly, Charlotte was ready for the hearing. The zeal to crush Grace at her own game had pushed her even more to provide everything that they needed or might need when the court case held. Alarick had also prepared until he was ready to face Grace again and confront her.The day of the court hearing came and the buzz of how the day might end filled the television stations, news outlets, media rooms and even gossip mills with so much anticipation that the hearing was allowed to televise live due to the pressure that was put on the courthouse. The press had used the excuse of trying to educate the masses to get the exclusive content but everyone knew the truth. Everyone knew that no matter what ha
