Rune of Arcana

Some apprentices went straight to the library in groups, some with friends, and some alone. Arryn was still in the practice hall, standing with his group mates.

"When shall we go to the library?" Aurora asked, worried.

Aurora certainly doesn't want to lose quickly to other groups, even though the results of the arcana compilation are individual work. Lucas fell silent, pondering whether it would be appropriate to look for the book now, considering that some apprentices may take more than one book to corroborate a theory.

"I think we should immediately go to the library to find references," Lucas replied.

"Then let's go," said Lorelei. She was the most excited when she saw the apprentices leaving this place.

Arryn nodded, walking after them all out of the practice room. Ivy flew from the metal railing in front of the audience seats onto Arryn's shoulder.

Ivy's sudden arrival surprised Arryn's three group mates. They were wondering about Arryn being able to get the pet magus.

"I saved her when she was about to be eaten by a bobcat. Her whole family died except her,” Arryn replied, raising a hand to shoulder height to take Ivy in his arms.

“But it's tough to get a magus pet. You're lucky to have her, Arryn," Aurora explained. Arryn smiled while thanking the girl for the compliment.

The library was on the fourth floor, meaning Arryn had to walk down the stairs to get to that floor. There seemed to be no conversation between the four group members, causing an awkward feeling to start a conversation.

Until they got to the front of the Obelisk library, neither of them started any conversation. The library door opened, and Lucas, as the group leader, walked in first, followed by Aurora, Lorelei, and Arryn.

Lucas took care of all kinds of administration, while Arryn was silently amazed by the beauty of the Obelisk library. The bookshelves were arranged in a spiral with so many collections, Arryn didn't know where to start to learn about witchcraft.

"Okay. The bookshelf about the Arcana is on the second floor of the library,” Lucas said, walking over to the three of them holding the group library card.

"It seems we don't need to worry about the number of books," Lucas explained.

They began walking into the center of the library, where several apprentices were seen busy studying the knowledge in the borrowed books. Some actually make small talk without carrying a single book.

“Don't mind them. We should focus on ourselves," Lucas replied. Arryn nodded in understanding.

They arrived on the second floor of the library. Rows of bookshelves that looked familiar to Arryn's eyes reminded him of the time he used to visit the library when he was Alan.

The three people in front of Arryn suddenly split up, following the library shelves to find the book they wanted. None of the three wanted to look for the book with Arryn.

In the end, Arryn did it all alone without their help. He stepped into an arrangement of two meters high bookshelves to find the book in question.

There are many titles books with the same theme, but Arryn is a little confused about choosing each book's author.

Of the many, it turns out that Sage Quentin also co-wrote the Arcana theme book and displayed it in front of Arryn. He was curious and began to reach out, taking the book by Sage Quentin.

"Good choice," said one of the women, walking up to Arryn and stopping near him when she saw him pick up a book she had previously studied.

Arryn turned his head, looking at the woman standing beside him with a shocked expression. Even more surprising, she wore a black uniform with a white pattern, indicating she had reached the second-tier mage class.

"You know about this book?" asked Arryn.

“Sure. From many references, I think Sage Quentin's book about the Arcana has a simple and easy-to-understand explanation," explained the woman.

Arryn and the woman immediately sat on the empty chairs beside the bookshelves. The woman introduced herself as Sansa, a healer class magic user.

Sansa opened the book and briefly explained the Arcana and what they do. There are three types of arcana items; Arcana attack, arcana heal, and arcana support.

Each Arcana has five different items, a total of fifteen items that will increase the status of the owner of the Arcana. However, Sansa explains that each magic-user can only choose five Arcanas out of the fifteen with accessible terms and no binding rules.

Arcana attacks increase Arryn's magic power, arcana healing for HP and MP regen, and arcana support for increasing status when critical.

Arryn had a general understanding of what arcana functions. In short, Arcana is a collection of items that can help him in the early battle when the fight starts. Also, the arrangement of Arcana will help raise Arryn's level.

“Then how do I compose arcana for myself?” Arryn asked curiously.

Sansa smiled as she stretched her right hand forward, eyes closed as she tried to cast a spell to open her Arcana rune.

Arryn had never expected that the arrangement of the Arcana would be shaped like a tree with five circles inside. Two items are at the top, one in the middle, and the rest below.

The names on Sansa's runes were precisely the same as those in Sage Quentin's arcana book. Each item type arcana has a different color; the attack arcana is red, the heal arcana is green, and the support arcana is yellow.

“You can also choose according to your needs and your original magic,” Sansa replied, deactivating her arcana runes as she allowed Arryn to start crafting.

Arryn, who was completely inexperienced in the arrangement of arcana runes, asked Sansa for help choosing the best one. The woman smiled; she would gladly help Arryn complete his arcana runes.

“Before crafting. You need to know something about these arcana runes,” replied Sansa.

The woman immediately took the book about the Arcana that Arryn was holding while pointing out a few things that Arryn should know. First, every item has its own level; the highest level is level 3.

Second, increasing each level requires arcana pieces which can be obtained from carrying out missions in the guild. Each level requires different pieces.

“When my Spirity item is about to be upgraded to level 2, I need 1000 arcana pieces,” answered Sansa.

"And to upgrade to the next level, I need at least 10,000 arcana pieces," continued Sansa, showing the shape of the arcana pieces that looked like broken glass, only that something was engraved on the pieces.

"Well. That's what you should know. Now, let's start crafting your Arcana," Sansa answered, rolling up her uniform sleeves to her elbows while holding a book in both hands.

Sansa ordered Arryn to chant the magic spell written in the book, the same as the magic spell Sansa had cast a moment ago. Arryn nodded without arguing.

Suddenly an arcana tree appeared before Arryn, inside a blue panel with all five empty circles. Arryn looked so excited; he couldn't wait to feel the changes in his body when he finished crafting the Arcana.

Sansa stood up from her sitting position and stepped closer to Arryn with both eyes fixed on the young man's arcana panel.

“The Arcana Rune Panel is usually unlocked when one turns 17 and has a first-tier class,” Sansa replied, pulling the wooden chair she had just been sitting on to place it near Arryn.

"To fill in the five circles, you just have to press the circle with your finger, and you'll see a list of items you can place there," Sansa replied, pointing to the two items at the top.

Arryn could see it closely; most of the arcana items that could be installed in that place were attack arcana types. Just as she was about to put the item, Sansa asked Arryn about the original type of magic.

The young man couldn't answer what kind of original magic he had, whether teleportation or dimensional. However, just as Arryn was about to answer her, a male voice came behind Arryn's back.

“He has a special kind of original magic,” the man replied.

Both of them immediately turned around and saw the figure of a man who was speaking to them. To Sansa's surprise, it wasn't just any random man who had arrived; it was Sage Quentin.

Sansa reflexively stood up and lowered her head in a salute to Quentin. Sansa is a huge fan of Quentin, which is why she's taking magic lessons at the Obelisk instead of a typical magic academy.

"Did Riviela tell you to craft the Arcana, Arryn?" asked Sage Quentin. Arryn was silent while nodding his head.

Quentin immediately turned his head away, looking at Sansa, who was on a different tier from Arryn. The man smiled, happy that someone else was willing to help his son.

“Thanks for briefly explaining the arcana to Arryn,” replied Sage Quentin, tapping Sansa lightly on the shoulder.

“I-I was just helping my confused first-year students, nothing more, Sage Quentin Master,” Sansa replied.

"That's a kind act. Now, he will be completely under my supervision,” replied Sage Quentin, holding Arryn by the shoulder and suddenly disappearing in the blink of an eye.

Sage Quentin brought Arryn to Quentin's office to explain a lot about Arcana. Quentin was worried that Arryn had made the wrong Arcana because changing the wrong Arcana would take a long time and cost a lot.

Arryn fell to his knees; Quentin told his son to sit on the sofa while he brought another author's arcana reference book, not himself.

"Why did you bring me here?" Arryn asked, annoyed.

"I'll arrange the best arcana for you," Quentin replied.

"So what if I arrange my arcana as I please?" he asked.

Quentin immediately turned around and looked at Arryn, still sitting on the couch with sharp eyebrows dipping and staring at Quentin.

“Once you craft a wrong arcana, you will regret it for the rest of your life.”
