How to get mana?

"You still think I'm a hero even though I'll kill you someday?"

They looked at Gin then looked down. Gin couldn't guess what they were thinking. Gin thought they were starting to realize if what Gin said was true and started to see him as a threat. But a woman stepped forward with teary eyes.

"Wouldn't we also die without you at the hands of Amenus?"

Gin almost nodded, lucky he didn't actually do it. They would indeed die if Amenus continued to attack them like yesterday. Gin had experienced the power of Amenus himself. Without Gerald The Hero, Kiran was a dying kingdom.

"When the day comes, can you do it quickly so we don't feel the pain?" asked an old lady. She might be smiling but her eyes didn't cover her fear.

The cursed one was the creature they had been afraid of. For thousands of years, the oracle had warned them that there would be a great curse, a catastrophe that would end the world.

But after Amenus came, they were more afraid of dying at the hands of that evil than a disaster. Especially after they saw Gin and Amenus fight. The elves realized they were not in a position that would allow them to choose whether to live or die. When the disaster came, it was certain that the world had to end.

Gin understood their feelings of helplessness. But he couldn't stop it. This must all happen according to plan.

"How did you live?" Gin changed the subject so they wouldn't think about the end of the world anymore.

Leogus' smug smile returned. "My fire magic is so strong, there's no way I'm going to burn to death."

"Then why don't you help me?" Gin was a little annoyed. Gin did not see Leogus again after he was thrown into the fire.

"And getting killed for nothing? No, thank you. I helped evacuate people."

"Weaks."

"At least I didn't faint from running out of mana. Hahaha... That was so embarrassing!" Leogus laughed. Even some of the people who started to leave them held back their laughter.

Gin rolled his eyes. He was still unfamiliar with the magic world. As far as he knew, mana was like even a battery that he needed to use magic. But how to get it? He still didn't know.

Gin opened his status window again.

[GIN]

[Title: Disaster]

[Ages: 20]

[Power: Unlimited]

[Vitality: 90]

[Magic stats: 4000]

[Mana: 1]

[Skills: Absolute Strength, Magic Resistance, Magic of Abyss]

[WARNING! YOUR DISASTER CORE HAS BEEN STOLEN!]

"I only have one left," Gin muttered with a sigh.

Leogus' laughter stopped. His eyes widened with a half-gaping mouth.

"What did you say? How much left?"

"One left."

"How much was it?"

"Two."

"No. I mean, before you fought Amenus."

"Only two."

Leogus was stunned. It was not funny anymore. It was crazy. So crazy. Even small children have hundreds of mana in their bodies. But Gin only got two mana yet he still overpower. Ordinary creatures would definitely die with less than five mana.

Seeing Gin's casual reaction, Leogus was sure that Gin knew nothing about this world.

"How do I get mana?"

Leogus slapped his own forehead, frustrated. "You really don't understand anything."

Leogus looked around, there was nothing he could use as a source of mana, this place was too barren.

"Follow me! I'll teach you how to get mana."

Leogus took Gin and Gargan to a quite far forest. The forest was outside of Kiran and survived Gin's rampage last night.

They stopped in the middle of the trees. The atmosphere here felt cooler and calmer than Kiran that looked like hell.

"Maana comes from the living things around us. You can absorb a lot of mana here."

Leogus opened his arms and took a deep breath. Gin watched with knitted brows. He didn't see any change.

"What are you doing?"

"Absorbs mana. Do the same with me!"

Gin opened his arms and took a deep breath. Nothing happened. His lungs felt fresh, but that was all. His mana was still the same.

"Stupid elf! You should explain more clearly! My Lord is not too quick to grasp information!" Gargan scolded Leogus, but Gin was the one who got offended.

Leogus rolled his eyes. "How old are you? Even a child can absorb mana by themself!"

"Twenty."

Once again, Leogus was stunned. Gin said it expressionlessly but it made everyone gape.

"You-you are a newborn baby!"

Gin was confused, so his sword who understood him explained in simpler language.

"Creatures in this world have long lives, My Lord. For example, the little boy who greeted you earlier, they are forty years old."

It was Gin's turn to gape. The kids looked like eight years or younger.

"Then how old are you?"

Leogus lifted his chin high. "I am two hundred years old."

"Wow, you are so old."

The frown on Leogus's face got more pronounced. He was displeased with the praise. Gin was too careless to notice. He pointed his palms in the air, then to the right and left. He didn't feel anything, mana or whatever, nothing.

"Don't tell me you don't even know how magic works," Leogus sneered.

He just said it casually, but when he saw Gin's flat face, he realized it. The great disaster that defeated Amenus, didn't know how to use magic. Gargan also knew about it, but due to their bad relationship, there was no way she would tell Leogus.

"Then how did you fly yesterday?"

Gin shrugged. "I don't know."

If it wasn't because Gin had saved his people, Leogus wouldn't want to do this troublesome thing.

"Then do this. Close your eyes, and imagine that the whole world is your source of energy. You want to get stronger and eat the whole world."

Gin was hesitant at first. How could he eat the world? But he still gave it a try. He closed his eyes, imagining a world filled with trees, flowers, and rabbits. A beautiful world to live in.

"When you inhale, you inhale all their energy. Just think about it," said Leogus.

Gin took a deep breath. This time something was different. He imagined little lights coming out of the trees and flowers. The light flew and entered his body.

[Mana has been filled]

[Mana stats: 5]

The window appeared even though Gin closed his eyes. He could see it very clearly. He succeeded, so he didn't stop there. He did it again.

[Mana stats: 25]

The number had gone up drastically.

[Mana stats: 75]

Gin's body felt lighter and stronger. All the pain in his body was also gone.

[Mana stats: 380]

Gin opened his eyes. That number had gone up too high. He only intended to get a hundred mana.

"How much mana do other people usually have?"

Leogus closed his eyes. "For adults, about 5000. Why?"

Gin looked back at his window. His number was still very small compared to the average of other people. However, he doubted whether it was enough or if he should take more.

"I'll teach you magic later. But now we have to go back. We have to plant the seed."

"What seed?"

Leogus and Gin back to Kiran which could be called as a wasteland instead of a kingdom. The residents gathered at the place where the giant tree was before.

Gin didn't want to interfere. He joined the line, watching them from afar.

King Sarkan stood in the middle of them. He was carrying something in his hand. He raised that thing high then said some spells, or prayers. Gin wasn't sure what it was.

"This seed will be our home in the future. In the remaining time we have, let's live well. When the last day comes, we will leave without regrets." King Sarkan gave a little speech.

Then he put the seed into the ground that had been dug out and planted it with a worried face. It seemed he wasn't sure if the seed would grow.

"That's the seed of a giant tree, My Lord. I heard that elves have seeds like that. I believe it's their last acorn."

King Sarkan said nothing more after planting the seed. He went with his guards, while the crowd dispersed with bowed heads. The gloomy aura couldn't be avoided. Gin knew their sadness about losing their home.

It might take years, or thousands of years for the seed to grow. Maybe the seed still didn't grow when Gin got his disaster core, and in the end, their hard work was just in vain.

The crowd had already left. Their hopes for the seeds were not that great. Only Gin, Gargan, and Leogus were still standing there.

"It doesn't look like it's going to work. It would take a hundred thousand years to grow one giant tree," Leogus muttered.

"Can't you plant it with your magic?"

"Which madman could do it? That's absolutely impossible, even our previous hero couldn't do it."

Gin felt bad. He had also lost his home to Amenus. No one understood Kiran people's feeling better than Gin.

"Can I do something?" Gin asked under his breath.

"What?" Leogus was confused but Gargan noticed it immediately. This time she didn't want to stop her master.

"Maybe I can try my magic now. What should I do, Leogus?"

Leogus just stared at him for a few moments. A minute later, he nodded. Even though he didn't know what Gin's wanted, he didn't mind teaching him.

"Just imagine what you want. Put your whole heart into it."

As always, Gin couldn't understand what Leogus was saying. But he still did it.

"Then, grow!" Gin said awkwardly.

Nothing happens. After all, he was still learning. But even if he fail, he could try again.

When he was ready to try again, a sprout suddenly appeared from the ground. It continued to grow into a small tree with leaves on it.
