Bloopers. Why didn't I make up an excuse and stay back home. If at all I did that, she won't be able to tell whether it's a real or fake. If only I knew he was going to be present. Why didn't Joan tell me he's part of an invited guest? Maybe she didn't know.. I answered my own question.

The way Joan squeezed my palm reassuringly and mouthed 'It's okay' made me know she saw through my nervousness.

I inhaled deeply and concentrated on her father even though I didn't hear a thing he said. The opening ceremony came to a close and guests started to leave while others remained for the aftermath celebration.
