Chapter 006

“He is with us,” Grace told the bouncer who stopped Edward from entering the club.

The bouncer reluctantly allowed Edward to pass.

Grace and Rebecca were welcomed warmly by the noble young men and women as they entered the club.

“Grace, you look beautiful.”

“Rebecca, I love your earrings.”

“Do you want to sit with us?”

The room was suddenly filled with comments from those who admired Grace and Rebecca.

But none of them paid any attention to Edward talk more of greeting him.

They assumed he was their bodyguard since he was dressed like a commoner.

Who would pay any heed to an ordinary bodyguard?

Edward didn’t feel uncomfortable but instead admired the interiors of the club.

Grace and Rebecca found a sitting spot at the rear front, and Edward joined them.

“Look! Dominic has started his bout.”

Dominic was in the ring, striking his opponent skillfully. Fencing was a respectful sport; most gentlemen from wealthy families even employed masters to teach it.

“Oh, how perfect.”

“His movements are so graceful and smooth.”

“Cool! His opponent is no match!”

Rebecca also complimented. “Dominic has always been superior to everyone in fencing.”

As they watched, Dominic defeated his opponent easily.

He didn’t even look like he used any bit of his energy.

Rebecca clapped and jumped to her feet.

“Dominic is so impressive. He defeated Charles so easily.”

“Yes, he is,” Grace added.

Dominic spotted Grace and approached her with a smile on his face. “Grace, Rebecca, I’m glad you’re here. Did you watch my bout?”

“Of course we did,” Rebecca replied. “You were really great and moved so fast.”

And Grace nodded.

“Thank you. Would you—”

Just then, Dominic’s eyes fell on Edward, sitting beside Grace. “Who is this? I’ve never seen him before.”

“Him?” Rebecca laughed dryly.

“He is the riffraff I told you about. He is Grace’s useless husband, Edward.”

A muscle ticked in Dominic’s jaw as he stared coldly at Edward.

How did this riffraff dare marry his sweetheart?

Had he no self-awareness or brain?

Or was he too brainless to recognize the gap between himself and Grace?

Had he taken a good look at himself and seen how cheap he was?

Dominic decided to teach Edward a lesson and embarrass him in front of everyone.

Dominic turned to Edward.

“I see, so you’re the riffraff. What special skill do you have that makes you good enough to marry Grace?”

“Everything,” Edward responded.

Dominic chuckled and eyed disdainfully.

Indeed an ignorant fool who had no shame.

“Do you run any company? Do you have a fencing master? What are you good at?”

Before Edward could respond, Dominic jabbed his finger on his shoulder.

“Forget it, you don’t have to answer. Judging by your looks, I doubt you could answer any. I won’t make things difficult for you.”

“Haha ...”

Upon hearing Dominic’s words, a few onlookers couldn’t help but chuckle.

“You know what, join me for a bout and show us your skills.”

Dominic suggest.

Edward shook his head. “Thanks, but I’m not interested.”

“BOO! Shame on you!”

“If you’re scared, just say it.”

“Yeah, there is no need to deny!”

“Like I said, a loser is always a loser.”

Evidently, Edward’s words had sparked a chorus of mockery from onlookers.

“You are scared, aren’t you?” Dominic teased.

“I know you’ve had no chance to play a noble sport, so we will take it easy on you. Don’t worry.” Dominic seemed to speak with understanding.

Edward rolled his eyes. “I’m not scared. I just don’t wish to participate. It’s too easy for me.”

“Oh my goodness! What shameless boasting and audacity!”

“What a nerve! I already feel sorry for Grace.”

“Who does he think he is to look down on noble sports?”

“Easy?! Can you even defeat the weakest girl in this club? Boasting isn’t a good quality.” Dominic said coldly, “Even though you’re a commoner and feel no shame, since you’re with Grace, I can’t let you embarrass her like this. Be a man and compete with me.”

A round of laughter exploded in the club.

“Accept the challenge, boy! Have some dignity!”

A man from the crowd exclaimed.

“Yes!” Another joined.

“Show us your mighty skills.”

Edward knew they would endlessly mock him if he didn’t accept the challenge.

He just wanted to shut Dominic up and put him in his place.

Edward rose to his feet. “Since you wish to fight and make a fool of yourself, I accept your challenge.”
