Chapter 005

Edward didn’t know why Grace despised him so much, but he was willing to impress her.

“Why don’t—”

He started to talk, but Grace pulled out her phone and turned her back to him.

“Yes, I’m right in front of the marriage agency.”

She said to the person on the other end of the phone.

“Yes, I’ll be waiting.”

Just seconds after her phone call, a BMW 7 series pulled up to the marriage agency and stopped before them.

A beautiful young woman exited the car casually.

She was adorned in a pretty dress and jewellery and walked in high fashion.

“Grace, how are you doing?”

She hugged Grace and didn’t even spare a glance at Edward.

“I’m fine,” Grace answered.

“Great! I came as soon as I could.”

Grace turned toward Edward reluctantly.

“Rebecca, this is Edward.” She said. “Edward, this is my best friend.”

Rebecca eyed Edward from head to toe and shook her head.

Clean yet overly cheap shirt and pants.

A pair of shoes scrubbed clean but clearly roadside goods.

Not a single item of value from head to toe.

Apart from looking decent, there was absolutely nothing worthwhile about him.

What a cheap riffraff! Rebecca thought.

She already felt pity for her friend, who was forced to marry him.

When Grace called and told her that she needed advice on getting rid of Edward, she thought her friend was exaggerating.

But seeing Edward in person made her realize that he was indeed a scoundrel.

He was incomparable to Grace’s other suitors, who were all from wealthy families.

‘I must free my best friend from this riffraff.’ She said to herself.

“Nice to meet you, Rebecca,” Edward said, smiling and extending his hands to Rebecca.

However, Rebecca ignored him entirely and wrapped her hands around Grace instead.

“Are you still attending the Noble Sports Club event with me? I heard that Dominic will be there.”

She smiled mischievously.

Almost everybody knew Dominic was one of Grace’s most devoted suitors.

Rebecca had always believed Dominic would win Grace’s heart.

Grace beamed at the mention of Dominic.

He was the CEO of PioneerTech, and his family was a third-rate local family.

Grace had asked Dominic for a favour a few days ago, and she hoped he would bring her good news today.

“Of course, I’ll attend the event,” Grace told Rebecca, smiling.

“Edward, you should come with us,” Grace said.

Edward dropped his hand and raised his brows.

He was surprised that she extended an invitation to him, especially since she had been so cold to him earlier, but he was delighted that she invited him.

“Sure,” Edward responded.

Rebecca laughed inwardly because her plan was working.

It was her idea to invite Edward to the sports club event so they could disgrace him.

She would show him the lifestyle and wealth of the elite men interested in Grace and ridicule him in front of everyone.

That would make Edward feel ashamed of himself and, hopefully, cause him to leave the marriage.

“Let us go then.” She exclaimed, smiling wickedly.

They entered Rebecca’s car, and her driver took them to the Noble Sports Club.

The Noble Sports Club was one of the most luxurious sports clubs in the city.

The average spending here was very high, so ordinary people simply could not afford to become members.

Only the young masters and misses from wealthy and prominent families would visit it.

When they arrived, Edward realized it was a fencing and horse-riding club.

Nowadays, noble clubs were popular, and most people knew some skills more or less.

Several luxurious cars were in the parking lot, which suggested that wealthy and high-ranking men frequented the establishments.

“I can’t wait to see Dominic during his match.”

Rebecca dragged Grace along eagerly, and they started toward the entrance of the club, leaving Edward behind.

“Hello, pretty ladies,” A bouncer outside the club greeted Grace and Rebecca. “You may go in.”

Edward attempted to follow them, but the bouncer pushed him back. “Who are you, and where do you think you’re going?”
