Chapter 9: humiliation and restoration

As soon as it was announced, word quickly went throughout the city that the Lioness Arts Group had decided not to hire the Bull Intelligence. This information immediately traveled throughout the dinner. Everyone agrees that someone must have done something to irritate the Lioness Arts Group; Whoever is in charge of maintaining that relationship is not hiding the reality from anyone.

As Alex approached the table where he and his in-laws sat, he began by notifying them of the latest development. The grandfather of his bride was the first to offer some insight. He addressed Alex with a pompous tone, asking, "What brings you here, Alex?"

Alex paused for a moment to collect himself before continuing, saying, "I wanted to share the fantastic news with the family once more. I recently learnt that I will be the one to carry out  the multimillion-dollar Housing contract. The milk and honey will still flow in the Smith's family." There was an awkward pause during which no one talked. Everyone was at a loss for words.

"There's no way you can be serious. You lack the intelligence required to secure a transaction of this magnitude. It is impossible for you to do so. You could not have completed all of that on your own."

Alex was able to keep his cool long enough to respond, "Well, it's not impossible. In addition, I was fortunate in landing the contract. Because I understand how significant the contract is to both my wife and her family, I thought you should be aware of it."

There was complete silence at the table once more, and Alex's in-laws were stunned speechless as a result. They couldn't believe that the man they had humiliated and dismissed had achieved such incredible success that even the mayor was proud of him. They couldn't figure out how he did it.

Vicky, on the other hand, was perplexed as to why her father, master Smith, was acting strangely and why he was so unhappy with her husband, Henry. She couldn't help but wonder why her father was acting so strangely.

"Is it because of useless brother-in-law, Alex?" inquires the other. She was intrigued if he had any connections to the Lioness Arts. However, he was the company's Chief Executive Officer. Although she was thinking this to herself, she was also wondering how Alex had started or where he figured it out.

“Huh?” Vicky was taken aback by her mother's words at first, but after giving them some thought, she realized that what her mother had to say may very well apply to her husband. Vicky arrived to this conclusion after doing some research.

"Didn't you say anything?" Mrs. Smith, this question was intended to be rhetorical. The degree of tension in Vicky's body has already reached a potentially dangerous level. It is no longer surprising to find that her husband was regularly humiliated by his brother-in-law and eventually lost a key contract to him. That offered Mother no joy at all. Despite all, it is clear that he is a terrible waste!

"How could he possibly have anything to do with the Lioness Art?" she questioned, shaking her head exasperatedly. Now that he has prevailed over them and obtained the contract, he should be aware that he lacks the necessary education to operate as a security guard at the Bull.

"Did you say something." Georgia left subtle hints here and there.

"No, I have to go home as soon as possible," Vicky said, remembering how angry her father was with her husband. She became visibly tremblig and became extremely concerned.

"Alex would not have been able to complete the task without your assistance. Who did you know at the agency, the mayor?" Georgia explained.

Mary could no longer put up with her mother's pranks at this point. "That's all there is to it, Mama. That's the end of it. If you insult both me and my spouse in front of me while I'm sitting here, I'm not going to put up with it."

She stood up and went to her husband, who was congratulated by his company.

"I was not anticipating things to go in this direction. It would appear that I have misjudged your abilities."

"Honey, you have no idea how many talents I still possess that you are completely unaware of. In the not too distant future, you will gradually learn about them." Alex said while cracking a grin.

He was well aware that the prejudice held against him by the Smith family could not be overcome in a short period of time. He was also aware that he could not act hastily in an effort to alter the way his mother-in-law felt about him.

As a result, Alex made the decision to tackle the problem one step at a time.

Around the dinner table, the Smith family was gripped by shock. All family members widened their eyes in disbelief as they reacted to the news that Alex had won the contract.

It was just what Alex had mentioned to them before!

Is it possible that Alex did not successfully negotiate the contract?
