Chapter 3

One by one, customers left their tables without paying. Suddenly, Roland became panicked because he was losing customers in the restaurant. He ran up to the customers with both hands spread. "No, sir, madam. Don't leave here. It's not our fault."

"Move aside! Don't get in our way. We don't want to eat in a bad restaurant like this!" The customer snapped at Roland, turning on the restaurant's perceived poor quality because of the commotion.

Roland clasped his palms together in front of his chest, trying to prevent them from leaving. "Please don't leave, at least pay for the food you've eaten."

The customers widened their eyes at Roland's words. They did not accept having to pay for the food at the restaurant. "What? Our comfort is being compromised and we still have to pay for the food?"

"We don't want to pay a dime! Think of it as compensation for our comfort being disturbed by your actions!" One of the customers threw the dishcloth on the floor, then stepped on it. It was the biggest insult to the restaurant.

The other customers still seated at their tables were even more uncomfortable, and got up to throw their cutlery on the floor. "What the hell is this? I'm sick of all this commotion!"

"Yeah, we'd better move to another restaurant that's more concerned with customer comfort!" They kicked the chairs over, sending some expensive tableware tumbling to the floor.

Now all the customers in the restaurant were gone. Roland grabbed his hair in frustration. "Ah, shit!"

Roland turned his gaze towards Lola and Brian. He pointed an index finger at them. "This is all because of you!"

Roland's hand moved toward Aiden with a shaking fury. "You're fired today! You must also compensate me for all the damage you've done! Replace the two plates you broke with a thousand dollars."

The servants behind Roland, who disliked Aiden, seemed happy to hear that. They even looked like they were applauding each other. "He finally got fired too."

"It gives me great satisfaction to see him suffer like that. He deserves it. You useless bastard!" The short-haired waitress grinned fiercely at Aiden up ahead.

"Yes, I'm also satisfied to see it. Especially since he has to compensate." The ponytailed maid also chimed in, seemingly satisfied with Aiden's plight.

Lola's eyes widened at the restaurant manager's words. She couldn't imagine how much that thousand dollars was. She knew very well how Aiden's finances had been.

Let alone a thousand dollars, even a hundred dollars was impossible for Aiden to have. Let alone working as a part-time worker. Lola was sure that Aiden wouldn't have the money to compensate for the loss.

Lola smirked as she controlled her eyes to stare at Aiden contemptuously. "What, a thousand dollars? Can a poor guy like you afford to compensate that much? Wait, do you have any money?"

Aiden held his hardened jaw. His hands even trembled, wanting to clench into tight fists. He didn't expect Lola to insult him as much as the others.

Brian wrapped his arms around both of Lola's shoulders so casually, intentionally wanting to make Aiden suffer even more. "How could a poor man like him have that much money? If he had that much money, he would have invited you to eat here first. Doesn't he always give what he has to you?"

Brian emphasized that last sentence to insult Aiden. Lola laughed until she covered her mouth. "Ah, you're right. He's always given everything to me. So if he has that much money, he should also give it to me. But it looks like he really doesn't have ten thousand dollars. That's impossible, he's obviously poor!"

Aiden adjusted his breathing, which was becoming labored due to the anger inside. "You've gone too far, Lola. After all the things I've done, how could you say that to me."

Brian lowered his hands and girded his loins haughtily. "Oh, I feel bad for being in the same place as a loser guy like you. So, come on, let's go to another expensive restaurant instead."

Brian put his arm around Lola and asked her to leave the restaurant. Lola gave Aiden a quick glance before turning her body around, as if satisfied with the pain Aiden was now feeling.

Watching them leave the restaurant, Roland was furious and couldn't accept losing a customer that meant so much to him. He lightly raised his hand and landed a hard slap on Aiden's left cheek.

Not only was he angry about losing customers, but also because Aiden had suffered a lot of losses, losing a lot of money. Roland grabbed his hair again. His head hurt like it was going to explode. "It's also because of you that all the customers in this restaurant ran away. You also have to compensate for the ten thousand dollars in losses from customers who didn't want to pay and the broken tableware!"

Aiden widened his eyes perfectly. "What, ten thousand dollars? Didn't you say that I only have to compensate a thousand dollars for the two plates I broke?"

"What are you talking about? Who do you think is going to compensate for all these losses? It all happened because of you!" Roland emphasized that he didn't want to know, Aiden had to pay for all the damages of ten thousand dollars.

Aiden shook his head, not accepting what the restaurant manager had said. "I don't want to pay that much. I'll only pay for the two plates I broke!"

Roland snorted in annoyance at this. He lifted his stance up as he girded his loins, glaring at Aiden defiantly. "Why, don't you have that much money? You poor bastard. A lowlife with a lot of attitude!"

Of course Aiden didn't have ten thousand dollars. His two full years' wages as a part-time employee wouldn't have amounted to that much. Aiden was very annoyed with Roland. Where did he get that kind of money? His head now hurt more and more like it was going to explode that very second.

Roland's jaw hardened, until the veins on his neck were clearly visible. "I don't want to know, quickly compensate for all the losses in this restaurant!"

But Aiden just stood there, ignoring Roland's words. He looked visibly shocked by Lola and Brian's departure, even his head felt like it was about to burst after listening to the insults that came out of Lola's mouth.

"Hey, are you deaf?" Roland walked up to Aiden and pushed the man's back until Aiden was pushed forward a few steps.

Aiden still didn't say a word. Roland became furious. "Asshole! You didn't hear, huh?"

Aiden turned his head quickly, giving Roland a sharp glare. "I heard, idiot!"

"Insolent! You dare call me stupid? You shameless servant! Bastard, you dare to challenge me! Damn it! Because of you, all my customers are uncomfortable and leave here. Because of you, this restaurant has suffered a huge loss. Damn it!" Roland's anger, which had reached the top of his head, raised his hand to throw a punch at Aiden's face, but Aiden managed to avoid it.

"Damn it!" Roland brought his hand back up, looking to land another punch on Aiden's face.

But this time, before his hand had even landed on Aiden's cheek, a loud old voice stopped him. "Stop it!"
