Chapter Nine

Everybody paused to the sudden voice, their legs vibrate has they checked their phones to confirm the words. Their eyes widen immediately. Mrs. Baker ordered they put it on screen.

Everybody gathers around her, their eyes were only on the TV, they wanted to hear the catastrophe that will soon befall them.

Clara was left in the back as they neglected her immediately the streaming start.

Her heart was pounding hard when the secretary of Ricky company was shown in the Livestream. She had very little luck on winning the bid, but she has to believe in a miracle because her future depends on it.

‘Why would Klaus say such a thing’ she bites her lips hard.

Mrs. Baker felt the pressure on her shoulder, she swore she is going to kill Klaus and tear Clara to pieces if they lose, she hasn't utter anything since because she was speechless.

Her heart has been sounding ever since Richard mentioned the loan.

how can she let everything she worked for go to waste just because of a stupid son-in-law.

She wished she was more ruthless then, Clara won't have dare married Klaus, damn it, she couldn't done everything within her powers. it came unexpectedly and she was too shock to react.

Everybody shook their head forward has Helen was close to announcing the winner.

Helen smirked and said. “Our CEO Mr. Marshall spotted a hidden gem in this bidding war, so the announcement was delayed but now Ricky company has chosen their winner”

cold sweat drops from their forehead, this was the longest speech in their life, Richard was only the one excited. Finally that rotten cabbage will be kick out.

“The winner of the bid is Clara Baker!, she is young and talented, here is what she placed”

Their breath seized immediately Clara name was mentioned, a sudden shock passed their body.

Mrs. Baker couldn't believe her ears, she stares at the TV hoping to see changes but there was none.

‘is that Clara name’ everybody was thinking one thing. ‘Clara won the bid, holy shit!’

Everybody turns to Clara, who was puzzled. she like a statue with big eyes.

Clara was declared the winner, but she noticed some changes in her bid, she wanted to speak up when Mrs. Baker voice was heard.

“Clara!, good job, that my daughter!” her voice wake everyone from their shock state.

They started congratulating Clara. “Clara you are awesome!, Ricky company called you a talent, how did you do it!” everybody was praising Clara. Lillian and Alice hide behind the family members, they couldn't believe Clara won the bid, who would've thought, Lillian asked her husband if he could help but he ruled it out immediately, he said it was death sentencing.

If her husband can get her the deal, then how did Clara scale it.

‘is this luck’ Alice shivered knowing Clara won, she was the second most frightened person here, now that Clara won, Mrs. Baker is going to give her the CEO post.

this was triggering to her, how can Clara be given the CEO post when she defied every words of Mrs. Baker says.

She supposed to be a servant here.

Alice followed every order Mrs. Baker gave just to climb the ranks, now she is highly respected but because of some stupid reward. Clara the disobedient child will be rank higher.

‘This is absurd’

Mrs. Baker roars “Let celebrate” everybody joins her, their cheeks were moving thinking of the commission they will get from the deal, only Richard was psychology down.

He was the number one most frightened person here, how come everybody is celebrating. Everybody was busying thinking of the money, but they all forgot the most important thing.

Richard manages to move his lips, “Mom!” his voice stopped the celebration. They face him, wondering what Richard was about to say since he wasn't smiling.

“What is it Richard” Mrs. Baker asked, Richard voice shakes, “Kla…us bet”

Their heart collapsed.

Klaus watched Helen has she delivered the speech, she has proved herself to be worthy of the post.

She basically did everything. Klaus was surprised by the demands of Ricky company.

Klaus stood up from the chair, he was ready to depart, he asked Helen to come over so he can give her instructions, Helen came immediately she got the call.

She bows seeing Klaus coming towards the door. Klaus was getting exhausted by all this respect, although it reminds Klaus of who he is now.

“Job well done!” Klaus said to Helen, Helen cheeks moved, being praised by Klaus was like receiving an Olympic gold medal.

“It's…my duty to assist you sir, please don't praise me!” Helen hides her face from Klaus stares.

Klaus wanted to say some words but he decided to let it go, he then said. “I won't be coming always, so you remain the boss, and lastly I don't want my identity to be exposed, alert all the staffs about this!” Klaus was pass Helen, Helen understand everything Klaus said, she has already been told by Steve before, Klaus is a prominent heir and his identity must be kept secret but she was curious about one thing, how prominent is the Marshall family since she hasn't heard their name before.

Helen shouted, “Yes Sir” Klaus smirked, he is slowing enjoying his new life.

Klaus walked pass the guest room, he wanted to check if Harold was still there even though he knew Helen has chased him out.

Klaus felt calmness, seeing nobody there. Klaus came out of the Ricky company, he was about to book a taxi when he spots the luxury car packed at the entrance.

Steve came out, Helen told him Klaus was here, so he decided to stop by.

Klaus eyes widen seeing Steve, Steve bows his head has he approached Klaus.

Before Klaus could say anything, Steve said. “Young master, here are the contacts of the remaining company” Klaus collect the file, but he remembers he didn't ask Steve for anything, Steve continues his talk seeing Klaus was silent, “these are the contacts of the secretaries in the company, In case you want to give a call before you visit” Klaus nods checking each of the company names, last time he only sighted to Ricky company.

Klaus checked the first one, Sterling company, they base on cars, the net was almost a 100 billion.

Klaus' heart beat faster, he never expected another company to worth higher than Ricky company.

Klaus slowly slides the file, he felt a vibration in his body, the second was Goodchat, one of the rising star in the social media apps.

Klaus hands started shaking, how can he be the owner of Goodchat. Klaus checked the net worth of Goodchat, 80 billion dollars. he felt a vibration in his brain. everybody in South Cherry uses goodchat and they have popular celebrity under them.

Klaus lips moved a little but he didn't utter anything.

He was sudden soaked with sweat when he remembers Steve said this was just the babies.

Klaus checked the third, Perfect match, it was dating company worth 20 billion, Klaus has heard of it before, but he didn't put ears, Klaus slides to the last one, suddenly the file fell from his hands, Klaus step backwards in shock.

Steve quickly picked the file up then he said, “young master are you okay, is something wrong” Steve was worried by Klaus reaction but he knew fully well the young master was frightened by the figures he was seeing.

the young master has lived a terrible life from those scumbags. Steve can't imagine how much Klaus has suffered. when found out he was a son-in-law in the Baker family. he wanted to go the baker Vila and demolished everything but he stopped thinking of how the young master will react. Now Steve was happy he didn't do that, let young master have his revenge himself.

Klaus heart beating racing thinking about what he saw.

He saw Nine lives, the biggest hospital in South Cherry, he planned to send Clara there for her delivery, but it was expensive, so Klaus throw the idea the way. Now he can send her to the VIP wards. However Klaus was shocked nine lives was worth 120 billion dollars.

Klaus lips slow curly when he finally got himself back, he said, “I am okay Steve, just send the contact to my line, I am going somewhere right now so I can't carry these files” Klaus step to the taxi waiting at the entrance.

Steve follow Klaus immediately, “here is your bank card, I can drop you off if you want” Klaus collected it without checking then said.

“Don't worry! Steve” Klaus enters the taxi, Steve wave him goodbye. Seeing the young master quizzical look made his heart flutter, this is just a tip of what the Marshall owns.

Klaus phone sounded immediately, Steve has sent the contacts to his line, Klaus didn't bother to look the message, he was occupied with something else.

finally Clara position will be the highest, he couldn't help but smile, Clara lost her respect when she married him, but now she will be rank higher than everybody.

Mrs. Baker never gave them peace in their marriage, she kicked them out of the Baker vila and restrict the commission Clara earns from the family.

Her plans were to make Clara suffer and return quickly. Klaus feared losing Clara then, but she didn't fall to any of her mom traps.

she stays with him for that Klaus is extremely grateful. Now he is going to make Clara a true goddess not only in the Baker family but the whole South Cherry.

The taxi stopped in the Baker villa. Klaus came out, the place was quiet only the wind sound was heard.

Klaus slowly steps to the door, now nobody will disturb his marriage again.

Klaus opened the door, many eyes fixed on him.
