Chapter 7

As Donald drove off from the legal Holdings conglomerate he received a call from Andrew Donald.

 "I am close to the company where are you, Donald?" Andrew inquired.

"You have to go back now Andrew, things are really hot down here. The reporters are everywhere I am on my way back" Donald explained over the phone.

"Okay Donald, what happened? Were you able to resolve the issue?" Andrew asked concerned.

"Things are worse than it seems. All our secrets are out to the press, embezzlement case, the reporters know all about it and not just that the… the family secret we have been keeping for years".

"The reporters know all about it, I have to call Elena now I don't know how my mother and father will take this news".

Donald responded as he ended the call on Andrews.

"Elena, things are worse. The non-governmental organization secret we have been keeping for years, the reporters know all about it."

"I… I… I don't know what to do. I am on my way back home now". Donald said to Elena over the phone.

"Don't worry Donald, we will sort it all out, just get home first" Elena responded trying to calm Donald.

"On getting to the Harrington Mansion Donald knew the worst was yet to happen with the non-governmental organization secret out, the family business would be ruined for life.

"We have to do something!, Mother, Father the secret, the press knows all about it. Someone leaked that information to the press". Donald said as he paced around the sitting room.

Just as they were having the conversation the police siren wailed from a distance.

"The police… the police they are here who must have tipped them off?" Donald asked palpitating while Elena and Mrs Harrington tried to make sense of all that was going on.

"We need to calm down, the police cannot arrest anybody. they have no warrants for that" Elena said trying to calm everyone down.

Just as they were talking the police busted into their mansion.

"Mr Harrington Donald, you are under arrest for embezzlement of the sum of five million dollars and you have the right to remain silent or get a lawyer."

The policeman said as they handcuffed Donald.

"What right do you have to arrest my son? where is your warrant? Mrs Harrington requested.

"Well ma'am, this is the warrant for the arrest" The policeman showed Mrs Harrington the warrant which left her with no choice but to let them take down her son.

"Elena!, Mom!, do something! call Andrew!" Donald screamed as the policeman took him away.

"Mum, we have to do something we cannot let them send Donald to prison we have to find who tipped the reporters and the police," Elena said to her mum.

"Firstly, you need to call Andrews and let him know the situation. Let him make some calls and call some business associates if there is anything they can do to help us in this situation"

Mrs Harrington said to Elena.

"Okay, Mom I'll do that but you need to check up on Dad and don't tell him anything. It could worsen his health condition". Elena said as she dashed out of the mansion.

"Oh God, what's going on? how did the secret come out? This secret could ruin all my husband had worked so hard to gather over the years. This will kill him. I just hope we find a way out of this before it is too late". Mrs Harrington said to herself as she walked back to meet her husband on his sick bed.

"Boss, Donald has been arrested," Steven told Jared as he walked into his office.

"Good, I guess the Harrington's is running shelter skelter to find a way to bail him out. Let's see how they will achieve that while they worry about the nongovernmental organization secret that has been exposed too" Jared said.

"I hope the next plan is in order already?" Jared asked.

"Yes boss, everything is in place. All you have to do is give us the order" Steven said as he bowed to Jared.

"It's almost time, in the next seventy hours, we will execute our plan," Jared said.

"Andrew, we need to call all our business associates, we need to know who is behind this attack," Elena said to Andrews.

"I have tried I have made some calls and I hope we get a reply before tonight but we need to go see Donald at the prison now" Andrew responded.

Andrew and Elena drove down to the station to check up on Donald.

"Elena, is there anything we can do? Have you found out who was behind the tip-off to the police?"

Donald asked palpitating.

"Not yet, but we hope to get a reply soon". Elena responded.

"Just hang in there brother you'll be out very soon," Andrew said to Donald.

"We need to go and get his bail, it's been more than 24 hours already". Elena said worried while she discussed it with Andrew.

"We can't, I just got off the call with the judge. His final hearing has been moved to tomorrow. The case has gotten to the highest district. There is nothing we can do to save him now". Andrew told Elena.

"No… no… no, there's something we should be able to do. My brother cannot go to jail!" Elena said wailing.

"But we still need to find a way to get the legal holdings conglomerates to partner with us again so that we will be able to bounce back," Andrew told Elena.

"Donald said when he went there he said he met lots of reporters. why did Alexander change her mind?" Elena asked worried.

"The only way to save Donald is for him to plead guilty to reduce his sentence in jail" Andrew explained.

however, Jared had another plan in place. He had contacted the assistant general on the case to ensure that Donald was being sent to life imprisonment with hard labor.

However, on the day of Donald's hearing, Jared had other plans for Andrew.

Elena had tried to pull off some strings hoping that it would reduce Donald's sentence.

On the final hearing, Donald was sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labor. Mrs Harrington could not believe her ears neither could Elena and Andrew.

"No…no… no I can't be sentenced to life imprisonment. All I did was for my family. Elena!, Mom!, Do something!" Donald wailed as he was being dragged off the courtroom.

Mrs. Harrington could not control the tears as they flowed freely down her eyes. Andrew tried to comfort Elena to stay strong for her mother even though they knew this could serve as a big blow for them and just when they thought they had seen it all another catastrophe struck.

Andrew's store was being raided by the police.
