4. Vow Of Vengeance

Chapter Four

“Hmmm, young man you have to take heart. You were too late , why didn’t you bring her to the hospital as soon as possible “ the doctor asked

“I ur mother can’t make it, we tried our best but you brought her in too late . You are lucky to have some few minutes with her before she leaves us and don’t worry about the bills , I will take care of it” said the doctor who pitied the young man when he saw how shabby and tattered he looked.

“Where is she ! My mother can’t die !” Elijah started shouting till his veins popped up , the younger male nurses had to come and hold him down and calm him before they led him into his mother’s room.

Elijah Stood by his mother's bedside, watching as she took shallow, labored breaths. Her skin was pale, and her eyes were closed, and he could tell she was in pain. He felt helpless, like there was nothing he could do to ease her suffering.

The room was quiet except for the sounds of the machines beeping and the hiss of oxygen flowing through tubes. The attending nurse and junior doctor sat in a chair by the window, their face etched with grief.

The young man reached out and took his mother's hand, feeling the coolness of her skin. He wanted to tell her how much he loved her, how much she meant to him, but the words caught in his throat.

He had known for months that she was dying of diabetes but the cancer complications were so sudden , but it still felt unreal, like it couldn't possibly be happening to his mother, the woman who had always been so strong and vibrant.

He felt a surge of anger and frustration, wishing he could turn back time, to a time when his mother was healthy and happy, and they could laugh and joke like they used to. But that time was gone, and he was left with this painful reality.

He looked up at the clock on the wall, willing time to slow down, to give him just a few more moments with his mother. But the seconds ticked by relentlessly, each one bringing her closer to the end.

“I have a secret to tell you about your true identity my dear son,you are …” Elijah’s mother tried to say but her mouth was too heavy and even though Elijah was curious to hear the secret ,he didn’t like seeing his mother struggle . She looks too weak and Elijah decides to say his last words to his mother before it becomes too late and he will regret not saying them.

“I love you mother and I vow to work hard tirelessly till I succeed and become a wealthy and powerful man. I will also make sure I take revenge , they will all suffer and I will make sure that they all bow on their knees in front of the grave and beg you for mercy while they apologise for treating us like trash” Elijah vowed with so much determination in his voice because he meant every word he said .

Few minutes later , the beeping sounds of the machine became louder , the zig zag lines on the beeping machine close to the hospital bed started becoming straight and he knew that it was time for his mother to go to heaven.

Finally, with one last shuddering breath, his mother passed away. The young man felt a deep sense of loss wash over him, like a piece of him had been ripped away. He knew he would never be the same again, that the memory of his mother dying in front of him would haunt him for the rest of his life.

Elijah sat on the hospital bed, his mother's lifeless body resting in his arms. The room was quiet except for his sobs, and he felt like the weight of the world was crashing down on him.

He had watched as his mother slipped away, her breathing becoming more and more labored until she finally took her last breath. He had been there with her every step of the way, holding her hand and whispering words of comfort, but now he felt utterly alone.

He looked down at her face, still beautiful in spite of the illness that had ravaged her body. He couldn't believe she was gone, that he would never hear her voice or feel her touch again.

The memories came flooding back, of all the times she had been there for him, cheering him on at his football games, comforting him after his first heartbreak. He realized now how much he had taken her for granted, how much he had assumed she would always be there for him.

He held her close, feeling the warmth of her body slowly fade away. He wanted to scream, to lash out at the world for taking her from him, but all he could do was cry.

At that moment, he felt like he was the only person in the world who had ever felt this kind of pain. He knew he would never be the same again, that a part of him had died with his mother.

Eventually, he knew he would have to let her go, to say goodbye and try to move on, but for now, he just wanted to hold onto her for as long as he could.

Elijah was so hurt that he choked on his tears , he didn’t leave his mother till the nurses came and dragged him aside and Elijah with shaky hands filled in the details of her death certificate before he stoned out of the hospital and headed for William's residential mansion straight.

It was night but Elijah went out and started running like a mad person till he reached home looking all soaked and drenched.

The weather is freezing cold but Elijah didn’t care, he went to his father’s office and saw it locked but a maid told him that his father ,grandfather and uncle Michael were on the rooftop.

Elijah quickly ran upstairs, his wet body soiling the ground he passses till he went to the rooftop and saw his biological father , his uncle Michael and to his disappointment his grandfather Williams sitting comfortably on expensive sofas while they drank expensive alcohol and smoker cigarettes to make the matter worst, there were 2 ladies about the age of Elijah who is 21 years old.

The ladies who were shabbily dressed were sitting on his father’s lap and uncle Michael’s Lao while they smoked along. Now the rain has stopped and the cool breeze that blows after a heavy rain made the rooftop all cold and chilly in a relaxing manner.

“I’m so disappointed in you grandfather, I don’t have any hope in those two “ Elijah said pointing to uncle Michael and his father before he continued talking , even though he clearly looks like he has been through hell . None of the three cared to ask about his appearance, they simply hate and don’t care about him.

“…but how could you let them do this rubbish with girls in front of you while my mother lies cold ? You all killed my mother and I will never forgive you !” Elijah said and no matter how he tried to act strong , he couldn’t help but break down and cry.

“What’s wrong boy ? Talk to me “ his grandfather said while still smoking , the other two clearly didn’t care about him.

“Didn’t you hear something I said ? My mother died and you 3 are responsible for her death! You all had the money but you still refuse to help till she gave up the ghost “ Elijah shouted at them

“Oh, then go and sleep. I will handle the burial ceremony “ Grandfather Williams said with a sigh of relief as if he was half Elijah’s mother died.

“I wished you died along with her “ was what his father said and Elijah became so angry that he carried the stainless steel ice bucket on the table and poured the liquid ice towards his father while he and the girl sitting on his laps stood up and dodged him.

“This is the reason why I wanted you dead too, look at the way you’re treating your father with disrespect!” Elijah’s father shouted but Grandfather Williams signaled for him to keep quiet.

“Go and sleep Elijah ,Grandfather said he will pay for the burial “ uncle Michael said without remorse.

“All of you listen to me , I vow to work hard tirelessly till I succeed and become a wealthy and powerful man. I will also make sure I take revenge , they will all suffer and I will make sure that they all bow on their knees in front of grave and beg you for mercy while they apologize for treating us like trash and outcast “ Elijah’s vowed , Uncle Micheal laughed at him while the other two continued drinking as if he just didn’t tell them that his mother is dead.

“Don’t dare touch my mother , I will find a way to make sure she gets buried in a good way. It’s too late for you to help us with your filthy and corrupt money” Elijah said and he didn’t even allow them to speak back before he turned around to leave/

Elijah felt insulted and defeated so he turned around and left their presence with the little pride he had, he went back to the room and took his mothers favorite ring and put it on his little finger before he took his bath and changed his outfit, it was when he was having his icy cold shower that he made a decision to leave the house , to leave the William’s mansion.

“There is no point in me living here anymore , my mother is dead and I need to go out there and work harder if I want to succeed “ Elijah encouraged himself because he has no one to do it for him.

Elijah didn’t sleep in that house and he didn’t carry anything along with him, he only carried his mothers favourite vintage ring as a parting gifts before he left the William’s mansion but he made sure to give it the whole building a final look of hatred without saying goodbye to anyone, there was no need for that anyway because they hate him after all.

William's family were just purely evil, no one even said sorry or comforted him because of his mother’s death and instead of grandfather Williams’s to lead by example , he just allowed his family members to do whatever they want. They were all so arrogant and rude, thinking that they were above everyone just because they had so much money.

It was really dark in the night and it’s already midnight , Elijah’s was very hungry and he didn’t have anyone or anywhere to go to especially by this dangerous hour, he also didn’t have any money on him but he had faith and determination to succeed and became very powerful, more wealthy than the entire William’s family and to also to become very influential and powerful in the entire county.

Elijah could feel the pounding headache that signaled he had drunk way too much. His mother's death was still fresh in his mind, and he knew that drinking to numb the pain wasn't going to make things any better.

The previous night, Elijah had left the hospital after watching his mother take her last breath. He had spent hours by her bedside, praying for a miracle that never came. She had fought a long and difficult battle with cancer, and he had watched her slowly fade away. As he left the hospital, he couldn't bear the thought of going home to an empty house which will only remind him of his misery and his loss with no one to comfort him, so he headed to the nearest bar.

The bar was dimly lit, and the smell of alcohol and cigarette smoke filled the air. Elijah sat at the counter and ordered a whiskey neat. The bartender looked at him sympathetically but said nothing. Elijah took a sip of his drink, and it burned as it went down his throat. He didn't care. He just wanted to forget.

Elijah spent the next few hours drinking, one shot after another. He didn't talk to anyone, and no one talked to him. He was lost in his grief, drowning it out with alcohol. As the night wore on, he started to feel the effects of the alcohol, and his thoughts became fuzzy. He didn't remember leaving the bar, or how he got into this room, but he woke up the next morning in his bed with a woman underneath the bedsheets.

The woman next to him was a total stranger, and he had no idea how she got there. He didn't remember anything from the previous night, except for the endless shots of whiskey he had consumed. He groaned and sat up, trying to remember how he got into this situation. He looked over at the woman, who was still asleep, and he couldn't even remember her name or how he ended up in the situation.
