Chapter Fourteen

Helen stormed out of Aaron's study, her frustration reaching a boiling point. She retreated to her room, slamming the door behind her with a mixture of frustration and despair. She let out a scream of exasperation.

Inside her room, Helen paced back and forth, her emotions swirling like a tempest. In a soliloquy that mirrored her inner turmoil, she muttered, "Who does he think he is anyway?" Her voice wavered with indignation. "Treating me as if I owe him something as if he can control my life."

She sank onto her bed, the weight of the situation pressing down on her. The truth was, Helen hadn't secured a new job as she had let Aaron believe.

Instead, she had just wanted to go as far away from him as possible. She couldn't bear staying with him in the same close quarters when he had eyes for some other woman.

She had enough savings to sustain herself for a year while she navigated the uncertain waters of her future. It was a decision born out of a desperate need for change.
